Understanding Our Own Hearts/Souls

Why does God tell us in the Ofudesaki that we do not understand the “Mune”. God tells us in the first verse of the most sacred scripture in the world. What if the whole world understands the mune. There will be world peace and prosperity. What is the mune, and why is it so important to understand?

According to the Ofudesaki, it is the mune or heart/soul that monitors our behavior. It collects our demerits from our evil actions, stores them, and eventually releases them back to us as our negative fates. This is why the phrase “ponder what comes from the heart/soul” is often found in the Ofudesaki. We reap what we have sowed because of our own hearts/souls.  It is not God that punishes or rewards us, it is our own heart that accomplishes this. God cannot forgive us for what evils we have done.

This is the message we must spread to the world. There is justice because of our hearts/souls. We cannot escape our fates. For many, the manifestation of our fates may not appear until our next lives, resulting in delayed karma. The understanding of this concept of karma due to our own hearts, will prevent most people from acting on their evil thoughts.  This is why when we understand the heart/soul, we do not hate the people who do evil, but we inform them of the heart/soul, and pray to God, to help them sweep their evil thoughts away, to save them. These people who do evil, do not see their future sufferings.

Many people believe that our Service, the Joyous Service is most important in saving the world, and their efforts go in performing the daily Service with enthusiam and conviction. But without the spreading of God’s truths first, and understanding the importance of the heart in purifying one’s mind, the performance of the Service is not accepted by God. What does this mean? People will continue to do evil because they do not know the teachings, resulting in their future sufferings.

What are common grounds we share with other religions? Most believe in a loving God, majority of religions believe in karma and reincarnation. These are beliefs that we can agree on and start a conversation with. We can then share new ideas like the heart/soul that monitors our behavior. We can tell them of the Original pure mind, a mind without disappointment, covetousness, self-love, greed, and arrogance, that will bring upon only joy.

For some people they will then understand the heart/soul to purify their minds. But for others, we will need God’s assistance to help them understand the heart, to purify their minds. This is where the Joyous Service comes into play. With this prayer, we are asking God to help us save the people we have spread God’s truth to.  With God’s work, these people will understand the heart/soul and purify their own minds. With the purification of their minds, their hearts will only bring upon joy.

This is why we must spread the teachings of the heart/soul to the world. People do not need to suffer!  Only if they can understand their own hearts/souls.
