In Tenrikyo, there is a saying that our bodies are borrowed, but the mind is ours to use as we wish. Actually this is not correct. Our mind is part of our physical bodies. Our minds can be damaged by accident or disease, therefore the mind is not ours to use as we please. It is our thoughts, especially our negative. Thoughts that is ours to use as we please. God tells us these negative thoughts are disappointment (oshii), covetousness (hoshii), self-love (kawaii), greed (yoku), and arrogance (kouman). These negative thoughts are like pathogens that we accumulate or sweep from our minds. Therefore God tells us there is no one who is evil. It is only these dusts or negative thoughts that they have accumulated that makes them bad. So to God, everyone can be saved if they sweep these negative thoughts away. God has created the perfect body to live the Joyous life, but we must attain the pure mind to see the benefits of health and happiness. This is why understanding the Origin of human beings is important. From the earth, God selected the good qualities of the sea creatures in the muddy ancient ocean. From heaven the positive thoughts of God was placed into the first couple. This story is also told in the 2nd part of the Youki-tsutome.
