What comes from the soul

In the first verse of the Ofudesaki, God tells us we do not understand the soul. What is the soul, and what does it do?

Many people believe that because of the soul, we live for eternity. When our physical body stops functioning, the soul leaves the body and ascends to heaven. Many believe that the soul remains in heaven for eternity, while others believe that the soul returns back to earth to start a new life.

God tells us that the soul while in our physical body, the soul monitors our behavior, and eventually gives out suffering or joy depending on our behavior. It is not God that punishes or rewards us. It is our own soul that does this. We reap what we have sowed because of our own soul. Suffering or joy from our soul, will not be immediate because the right circumstances may not arise to manifest the effects of our actions. Many times, the effects (fate) may not occur until the next lifetime. If the fate is not manifested in this lifetime, the soul carries the fate, and its associated thoughts to the next lifetime. We do not get a fresh start when we are reborn. It is the lapse of time that makes understanding karma difficult for most people.

This is why God has revealed him or herself to help us understand the soul. By understanding the soul, we can purify our own minds. When the mind is pure, only health and happiness will appear from the soul. If the world understood the soul, there will be only peace and prosperity. Only joy and health will appear from our souls.

God also tells us that there is no one who is essentially evil. Only negative thoughts have attached to their minds. This is why God tells us that if we can remove our negative thoughts, we are saved. Only joy and health will come from our souls. This is why God wants to save everyone in the world.

Again this information is all in the Ofudesaki. God tells us have to save ourselves by understanding our soul, and how to share this information to others.

おふでさきの第一節で、神様は我々が魂を理解していないと告げられる。魂とは何か、そして魂は何をするのか？

多くの人々は、魂があるからこそ我々は永遠に生きると信じている。肉体が機能しなくなると、魂は肉体から離れ天に昇る。魂が永遠に天に留まると信じる者もいれば、魂が地上に戻って新たな生を始めるのだと信じる者もいる。

神はこう告げている。肉体の中に宿る魂は、私たちの行動を監視し、最終的にその行いに応じて苦しみや喜びを与えると。罰したり報いを与えたりする存在は神ではない。そうするのは私たち自身の魂である。自らが蒔いた種を刈り取るのは、自らの魂ゆえである。魂からの苦しみや喜びは即座には訪れない。なぜなら、行動の結果が現れる適切な状況が整わない場合があるからだ。多くの場合、その影響（運命）は次の人生まで現れないことがあります。もし運命が今生で現れなければ、魂はその運命と関連する思考を次の人生へ持ち越します。私たちは生まれ変わっても新たなスタートを切るわけではありません。時間の経過こそが、多くの人々にとってカルマを理解することを困難にしているのです。

だからこそ神は、魂を理解する助けとなるために自らを顕現されたのです。魂を理解することで、私たちは自らのkokoro (mind)を浄化できます。kokoro が清らかであれば、魂からは健康と幸福のみが現れます。世界が魂を理解すれば、そこには平和と繁栄のみが存在するでしょう。私たちの魂からは、喜びと健康のみが現れるのです。

神はまた、本質的に悪なる者はいないとも告げておられる。ただ否定的な思いがkokoro (mind)にまとわりついているだけなのだ。だからこそ神は、もし私たちが否定的な思いを取り除くことができれば救われると教えておられる。魂からは喜びと健康だけが湧き出る。これが神が世界中のすべての人を救いたいと願う理由である。
