It is because karma, or innen does not usually occur immediately after our actions. The effects of our actions may not occur until late into our lives, or many times in our next lifetime. Although our memory is erased, It is said that our soul carries our fates and their associated thoughts to the next lifetime. We do not get a fresh start when we are reborn.

Why God does not let karma take effect immediately? If karma did occur immediately, people will not act on their negative thoughts because of fear of God; and therefore the evil thoughts will still exist in their minds. God wants us to have positive thoughts in our minds. When our minds are pure, only health and happiness will appear from one’s own soul.

Because there is karma, does this mean that we have to suffer for evil we have done in the past, or past lives. God tells us when suffering occurs, if one ponders one’s own mind for negative thoughts that may be associated with the suffering, and not act upon them, one can gradually remove our negative fates, or lessen the existing suffering. Remember, the only two things that the soul carries to the next life is our fates and their associated thoughts that were acted upon. If we could remove the negative thoughts associated with the fate, can we remove the associated fate? This appears to be what God is saying in the Ofudesaki. God wants us to purify our minds. When the mind is pure, one is saved. Only health and happiness will appear from one’s soul. But when the mind has negative thoughts, one does not know what will appear in the future.

自己中心的で、貪欲で、傲慢な人々が多くいます。彼らは、捕まらなければ、罰を受けなければ、何をしてもよいと考えています。しかし、彼らは自分の魂が地上での行動を監視していることを知りません。もし彼らが神や正義を信じていたとしても、死ぬ前に許しを請えば赦されると考えています。しかし、私たちを罰したり報いを与えたりするのは神ではなく、私たち自身の魂です。私たちは自分が蒔いたものを刈り取ります。なぜ魂のメッセージを伝えるのはこんなに難しいのでしょうか？
それは、カルマ、または因縁が、私たちの行動の後すぐに起こるわけではないからです。私たちの行動の結果は、私たちの人生が後半に現れることもあれば、時には来世に現れることもあります。私たちの記憶は消されますが、魂は私たちの運命とそれに伴う思考を次の生に持ち越すと言われています。私たちは生まれ変わった時に新たなスタートを切るわけではありません。
なぜ神はカルマがすぐに効力を持つようにしないのでしょうか？もしカルマがすぐに効力を持ったなら、神を恐れるあまり人々は負の思考に基づく行動をしなくなるでしょう。その結果、悪い思考は心の中に残り続けます。神は私たちに、心の中にポジティブな思考を持って欲しいのです。心が純粋であれば、健康と幸せだけが自分の魂から現れるのです。
カルマがあるということは、私たちが過去や前世で犯した悪行に対して苦しまなければならないということなのでしょうか？神は言います。苦しみが訪れた時、その苦しみに関連した負の思考を自分の心でよく考え、それに基づく行動を取らないなら、徐々にその負の運命を取り除くことができる、または現在の苦しみを軽減することができると。覚えておいてください。魂が次の生に持ち越すものは、私たちの運命と、それに関連する思考だけです。その運命に関連した負の思考を取り除ければ、その運命自体も取り除けるのでしょうか？これが神が『おふでさき』で言おうとしていることのように思われます。神は私たちに心を浄化して欲しいのです。心が純粋であれば、私たちは救われます。自分の魂からは健康と幸せだけが現れます。しかし、心に負の思考があるとき、未来に何が現れるかはわからないのです。
