OFUDESAKI/CHAPTER 16/  1882 TENRIKYO

(imamade wa) (kono yo hajimeta) (ningen no)     *-

(moto naru koto o) (tare mo shiromai) 16-1

Until now, this world beginning human’s

origin creation matter, no one knew.

(konotabi wa) (kono moto naru o) (shikkari to)     *-

(douzo sekai e) (mina oshietai) 16-2

This time, this Origin creation firmly,

by all means, to the world all would like to teach.

(kono moto wa) (Kagura ryounin Tsutome wa na)     * 

kore ga shinjitsu kono yo hajimari  16-3

This Origin is the Kagura. Both people the Service perform.

These are the Original minds, that started this world.

(Konotabi no Kagura to yuu wa ningen o      *-

hajime kaketaru Oya de aru zo ya.  16-4

This time’s Kagura that is said, human to

begin to start Parent exist!

*Oyasama was physically alive 

kono moto o shiritaru mono wa nai node na      *-

kono shinjitsu o mina oshieru de  16-5

This Origin knowing person, there is none. Because of it,

*origin of human creation

this Original mind, all will be taught.

*the Original mind is the pure mind given from heaven to the first parents

(imamade no) (nichinichi kudoki) (dandan to)    *-

(yuute kikashita) (koto wa aredomo )16-6

Until now, day by day persuasions step by step,

to tell and inform about exist. But

(mou kyou wa) (ika hodo Tsukihi) (yuuta tote)        *-

(ichiretsu kokoro) (wakari nai node) 16-7

now today, how much God had said about obtaining the (Original mind),

everyone’s mind , understanding does not exist.

*word do not completely convince people

(soreyue ni) (mou seetsu ga) (kitaru kara)     *-

(zehi naku ima wa) (kayashi suru zo ya) 16-8

Therefore, now the time has already come.

Certainty (or right or wrong) does not exist. Now I will give returns. 

*God will begin to place illness as guidance to help people understand that the heart naturally does this for us, to purify our minds.

(kono kayashi) (chotto no koto towa) (omouna yo)      *-

(atchi kotchi ni) (ouku mieru de )16-9

These returns, small matter, do not think.

There here, in great numbers will be seen.

(kono you no) (ningen hajime) (moto naru o)      *-

(doko no hito demo) (mada shiromai na) 16-10

These workings of human beginning, the Origin creation, to

wherever the person is, yet does not know.

(konotabi wa) (kono shinjitsu o) (sekaijuu e)  *-

(douzo shikkari) (mina oshietai) 16-11

This time, this Original mind, to the world,

by all means, firmly all to teach.

(shikato kike) (kono moto naru to) (yuu no wa na)     *-

(Kunitokotachi ni)( Omotari sama ya) 16-12

Listen intently, this Origin creation that is said,

Kunitokotachi and the venerable Omaotari.

*these two represent Deities that started human beings. Some refer to the two names to represent the male and female part of God?

(kono okata) (doromizu naka o) (misumashite)     *-

(uo to mii to o) (soba i hikiyose) 16-13

These personages, within the muddy water, observed

a fish and serpent, and  drew them near.

(konotabi no) (zannen to yuu wa) (shin kara ya)      *-

(kore o harasuru) (moyou nai kayo) 16-14

This time’s regret is said to be from the Core.

*core of God’s heart

(kono koto o) (Kami ga shikkari) (hikiukeru)    *-

(donna kayashi mo) (suru to omoe yo) 16-15

This matter, God will firmly take charge.

(kono kayashi) (mietaru naraba) (dokomade mo)     *-

(mune no souji ga) (hitori dekeru de) 16-16

These returns, when they are seen, wherever,

*these returns are illness as guidance from God

the sweeping of heart, by oneself can continue. 

*these returns represent guidance that our hearts usually do for ourselves to purify our minds. Fates resulting from what we have previously done, comes from our hearts. If we understand this, we can purify. our own minds by not acting on our evil thoughts

(imamade wa) (dono yona koto mo) (miyurushite)      *-

(jitto shiteita) (koto de aredomo) 16-17

Until now, what kind of matters, I have been overlooking.

I have been restrained. This existed, but. 

(kyounohi wa mo) (hi ga tsunde) (aru kara na)     *-

(donna koto demo) (suguni kayasu de) 16-18

today, the day is pressing. Because it exist,

whatever matter, I will immediately give returns.

*give guidance

(kono tokoro) (tomeru kokoro de) (kuru naraba)     *-

(sono mama doko i) (Tsukihi deru yara) 16-19

This place, stopping mind, if one comes.

*stopping the performance of the Service

That condition, where will God appear.

(deru no mo na) (donna koto yara) (shiromai na)   *-

(Tsukihi mukai ni) (deru de shouchi se) 16-20

Appearing, what matter is this, you do not know.

God to go toward and appear, ponder it.

*God giving guidance

(kyounohi wa) (mou jubun ni) (tsunde aru)    *-

(dono yona) (michi ga aru ya) (shiren de) 16-21

Today, now the (regret) is fully piling up.

*regret in God’s heart

What kind of paths there are, you do not know.

*there are many paths of suffering that one does not know.

(sekaijuu) (mina ichiretsu wa) (shikato seyo)     *-

(nandoki Tsukihi) (tsureni deru yara) 16-22

Throughout the world, all everyone be firm.

When God will go out to accompany.

*when God will begin placing illness as guidance

(kyounohi wa) (Mezurashi koto o) (yuikakeru)     *-

(nani o yuu tomo) (tare mo shiromai) 16-23

Today, marvelous things, I will tell you.

Whatever is said, there is no one who understands.

(sekai niwa) (mina dokomade mo) (onaji koto)     *-

(kodomo katazuke) (koshirae o suru) 16-24

In the world, all everywhere, they are the same.

The children to mold, you prepare to do.

(ika hodoni) (koshirae shita to) (yuuta tote)     *-

(sonosaki naru wa) (tare mo shiromai) 16-25

How much one prepares to do, that is said to obtain,

After that, what occurs, no one knows.

(Tsukihi niwa) (donna omowaku) (aru yara na)     *-

(kono michisuji wa) (shirita mono nashi) 16-26

To God, what kind of intentions exist?

This path, there is no one who knows.

*path to save people

(konosaki wa) (dono yona yume o) (miru yara na)    * _

(monku kawarite) (kokoro isamu de) 16-27

This time, whatever kind of dream you may see.

The situation will change, the mind will become spirited. 

*when the mind is pure, it becomes spirited

(dono youna) (mezurashi yume o) (miru yara no)      *-

(kore o aizu ni) (tsutome ni kakare) 16-28

What kind of marvelous dream you will see.

This for the sign, begin the Service.

*the sign is God’s guidance

(kyounohi wa) (dono yona koto mo) (kiite iru)    *-

(nandoki monku) (kawaru koto yara) 16-29

Today, what kind of matters, you will hear.

When the situation will change, it will be about.

(dono youna) (koto ga aritemo) (uramina yo)     *-

(mina meimei ni) (suru koto ya de na) 16-30

What kind of occurrences may happen, do not bear a grudge.

*occurrence is God’s guidance 

All each, you have done.

*God is guiding you by telling you that the occurrence is the result of your action in the past. This is what our hearts show us in our daily lives. We reap what we have sowed

(Tsukihi niwa) (mina ichiretsu wa) (waga ko nari)    *-

(kawai ippai) (omote iredomo) 16-31

To God, all everyone are my children, to attain.

Full of  love, thinking to be, but

(meimei ni) (suru koto bakari) (zehi wa nai)    *  –

(sokode jikkuri) (mite iru no ya de) 16-32

to each, you have done only, Certainty (or right or wrong) is nonexistent.

There, (God) deliberately  looking at it.

*God only on the sidelines watching the wrong doings

(kyounohi wa) (nanimo shirazu ni) (iru keredo)     *-

(asunichi o miyo) (erai ou kuwan) 16-33

Today, knowing nothing, you are existing, but

look at tomorrow, a great broad (path). 

*ou kuwan may translate to taking responsibility for adverse events

(kono michi ga) (mietaru naraba) (dono youna)     *-

(mono demo kanau) (mono wa arumai) 16-34

This path, if it is seen. What kind

of person,  opposing person will not exist.

(Tsukihi niwa) (donna omowaku) (aru yara na)     *-

(kono kokoro oba) (tare mo shiromai) 16-35

To God, what kind of intentions  may exist.

(kore oba na) (miekaketa nara) (dokomade mo).   *.  

(mune no uchi oba) (hitori sumikiru) 16-36

This to God,  if it is seen, wherever,  

*the Original pure mind is seen

the heart’s interior, God alone will purify.

(korekara wa) (kono yo hajimete) (nanimo kamo)     *-

(nai koto bakari) (yuikakeru nari) 16-37

From now on, since this world’s beginning, all things

that do not exist, only to say, to occur.

(imamade wa) (hito no kokoro no) (shinjitsu o)    *-

(tare ka shiritaru) )mono wa nakeredo) 16-38

Until now, of a person’s mind,  the Original mind,

who is aware, this person does not exist.

(konotabi wa) (Kami ga omote i) (deteru kara)    *-

(donna koto demo) (mina oshieru de) 16-39

This time, because God is thinking to go out,

what kind of thing, all will be taught.

*people must be told what is going to happen before God begins to work

(kono hanashi) (doko no koto tomo) (yuwan de na)     *-

(minouchi sawari) (kore de shirasuru) 16-40

This talk, no particular place, I do not say.

(konna koto) (nande yuu ya to) (omouna yo)     *-

(kawai amarite) (yuu koto ya de na) 16-41

(donna koto demo) (hayaku mieru de) 16-46

imamade mo Kami no kudoki wa dandan to    *-

iroiro toite kitaru naredomo 16-48

ika hodoni kudoita totemo tare nitemo    *-

kikiwake ga nai Oya no zannen 16-49

kokomade mo yoi na kudoki ya nai hodoni    * 

konotabi koso wa shiyan suru you 16-50

(kono osamekata) (tare mo shiromai) 16-63

From God, the world, if God works,

(soreyue ni) (kono shizumekata) (choto shirasu)     *-

(ichiretsu hayaku) (shiyan suru you) 16-64

(jitto shite ita) (kono zannen miyo) 16-68

(korekara wa) (Kami no omowaku) (suru kara wa)      *-

(donna koto oba) (suru ya shiren de) 16-69

Through human’s eyes, nothing can be seen. But

through God’s eyes, all can be seen.

(koshirae o) (yaru no wa shibashi) (machite kure)   *-

(doromizu naka i) (hameru gotoku ya) 16-73

The preparations (of guidance), to give away. For a brief time wait to do.

(tsureiku mo) (chotto no koto dewa) (nai hodoni)   *-

(ooku mieru ga) (tare mo shiromai) 16-77
