The word narimono is translated as musical instruments in the Tenrikyo Headquarter’s translation. But it can also be translated as harvest, like harvest of new members. This translation makes more sense, as God wants to save people.
OFUDESAKI 14-83
God wants everyone to attain the Original pure mind. God telling us not to ignore the illness as guidance that may be given to help understand the heart/soul.
THE SIMPLE TRUTH
Our religion is very simple. Some will say, “No way Jose”, and argue that one has to daily perform the Joyous Service, attend our monthly Service and perform the Yorozuyo, and 12 dances, pilgrimage to Ojiba, and make donations. But in the Ofudesaki, I believe these chores, or duties are meant for only the yobokus or missionaries that want to spread God’s teachings.
God teaches us in the Ofudesaki that if one wants to live the Joyous life, one needs to remove the negative thoughts of disappointment, covetousness, self-love, greed, and arrogance. These are the truth to attain health and happiness. This is the simple truth.
But this simple truth is sometimes difficult to attain. God compares it to digging a root. God in the Ofudesaki gives us the instructions on how to remove our negative thoughts from our minds (how to dig the root), and also tells us what workings God will do to help us attain this Original pure mind, that will bring us health and happiness.
The removal of disappointment, covetousness,
Self-love, greed, and arrogance from your
Mind, will bring you health and happiness
This is the main message in the Ofudesaki. This is what religion actually is. It is to help people attain health and happiness!
OFUDESAKI 14-80
When one has the Original pure mind, God will teach the salvation service, and how to save the world.
Where to Spread God’s Teachings
How do we spread the truths in the Ofudesaki? I have been struggling to publish a book that is easy to understand. You can see by the attached photo that I am having a difficult time. But I believe that I am very close to publishing God’s teachings that people can understand. The second step will be where to spread God’s teachings. God in the Ofudesaki, tells us to spread the truth to the people in the high mountains (takayama) or to those who are in the upper class (kami taru). In one of the Tenrikyo books, there is a reference why we should spread the teachings to those in the upper class. God tells us that it is easier for water to flow from top to bottom. Water, or the pure mind is easier to flow from the upper class to the lower class?
But most of our churches or fellowship are in poor areas, and are being spread to the people in these areas. Are we not following God’s instructions in the Ofudesaki? This may be one of the reason Tenrikyo is the growing in membership? Should we not be spreading to those people in the upper reaches of society first? Something to ponder.
