UNDERSTANDING OUR OWN SOUL
The first verse in the Ofudesaki is the most important message that God wants us to understand. God wants us to understand the soul (mune).The mune is what we must spread to the world. Without understanding the soul, there will continue to be suffering in the world. All of God’s teachings in the Ofudesaki, revolve around the soul. The following is from the Ofudesaki in hiragana waka style poetry:
(Yorozuyo no)( sekai ichiretsu)( miharasedo)
(mune no wakarita) (mono wa nai kara). 1-1
All generations of, the world everyone, looking at,
the soul’s understanding, person is nonexistent because, 1-1
But Tenrikyo leaders believe that the mune in the first verse refers to God’s heart or God’s mind.
Looking all over the world and through al ages,
I find no one who has understood My heart. 1-1
This is a completely different meaning from what God intended to say. Without understanding the first verse, one will not be able to understand how to live the Joyous life,. What is the soul, and what does it do? We will discuss this topic in the next posts.
おふでさきの最初の節は、神が私たちに理解してほしいと願っている最も重要なメッセージです。神は私たちに魂（ムネ）を理解することを望んでおられる。 魂を理解しなければ、世界には苦しみが続く。おふでさきの神の教えはすべて、魂を中心に展開されています。以下、ひらがな和歌によるおふでさきから：

OSAZUKE DOES NOT WORK?
THE OSAZUKE DOES NOT WORK
In performing the Osazuke, we are told to teach God’s teaching, and then perform the Sazuke to heal any illness. But does it heal any illness. If it did, our religion will be very popular. In my experience, I have not been any witness to miraculous healing performed by the sazuke.
WHEN DOES THE OSAZUKE HEAL?
Then when does the Osazuke heal people. In the Ofudesaki, God describes these illness as becoming illnesses. They are not existing illness that we can heal. They are illnesses that God places as guidance that can be healed by the Osazuke. Let me explain. By our special Service Youki-tsutome, we are asking God to sweep the negative thoughts of others. On acceptance of our prayer, God enters the person, and places illness depending on the negative thoughts of the individual. It is these negative thoughts that they will act upon that will create their negative fates that their own soul collects, stores, and eventually manifest as suffering. So God by the guidance is showing the person his or her future If negative thoughts are not eliminated.
If these people understand the guidance given, they will then come to our places of worship to be healed. I can be wrong, but Oyasama did not randomly heal people on the streets, like Jesus Christ. She went out to teach people, and waited for them to come to her when God placed guidance on them. She then informed them about the teachings, and healed them. This is how the teaching of the soul to purify one’s own mind is spread to the world.

WHY GOD DESCENDED FROM HEAVEN
1. To teach us about the soul to attain the pure mind.
2. To teach us when our minds are pure, only joy will come from our souls.
3. To teach us how to spread these teachings to the world.
God’s intention was not to start a new religion with all it’s ceremonies and rituals. The main purpose of religious organization is to spread God’s teachings to the world.

Pure mind is a mind without disappointment (oshii), covetousness (hoshii), self-love (kawaii), greed (yoku) and arrogance (kouman). see Ofudesaki verse 3-96
神はなぜ天から降りたのか?
1. 純粋なkokoro (mind) を得るために、魂について教えるため。
2. 私たちのkokoro (mind) が純粋であれば、魂か
らは喜びしか生まれないことを教えるため。
3. 世界に教えを広める方法を教えること。
神の意図は、儀式や儀礼のすべてを備えた新しい宗教を始めることではなかった。宗教団体の主な目的は、神の教えを世界に広めることだ。
純粋な kokoro (mind)とは、失望、貪欲、自己愛、貪欲、傲慢のない kokoro (mind) である。

TENRIKYO
WHY GOD IS NOT ANSWERING OUR PRAYERS (YOUKI-TSUTOME).
Many in our religion believe that we are praying to God to help us sweep our own minds. But we should already know how by understanding our soul (mune). In the 2nd part of the prayer, God tells us what to tell people when we spread God’s truth. God wants us to tell them about how human beings were created. This is because the pure mind from heaven was placed into the first couple, combined with the good physical properties that were added from the sea creatures in the muddy ancient ocean. This combination, will lead to happiness and health to our perfect bodies, that God loans us. But negative thoughts have attached to our minds, which is not compatible with our perfect bodies. Therefore suffering appears to our bodies. God wants us to remove these negative thoughts to attain the pure mind. When the mind is pure, only health and happiness will come from our own souls.
THIS PRAYER IS ASKING GOD TO SAVE OTHERS THAT WE HAVE SPREAD GOD’S TEACHINGS TO.
How does God save these people. God when accepts our prayer, enters these people, and places illness as guidance depending on the negative thoughts in their minds. It is these thoughts that they will act upon that will create their negative fates that their own soul collects, stores, and eventually manifest back to them as suffering. By these illness, God is showing them their future, if they do not remove their negative thoughts. These people who understand God’s guidance will come to our places of worship to be healed by the Osazuke. This is the path to salvation of the world.
GOD’S TEACHINGS ARE NOT SPREADING TO THE WORLD FOR TWO REASONS:
We do not understand our own soul to purify our own minds
We do not understand our prayer (Youki-tsutome)
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE ALL IN THE OFUDESAKI!
神はなぜ私たちの祈りに答えてくださらないのか？
私たちの宗教の多くは、私たちが自分の kokoro (mind) を掃除するのを助けるために神に祈っていると信じている。しかし、私たちは自分の魂（ムネ）を理解することによって、その方法をすでに知っているはずだ。祈りの第2部では、神は私たちが神の真理を広めるときに人々に何を伝えるべきかを教えている。神は、人間がどのように創造されたかを伝えることを望んでおられる。 それは、天からの純粋な kokoro (mind) が最初の夫婦の中に置かれ、泥だらけの太古の海で海の生き物から加えられた良い身体的性質と組み合わされたからです。この組み合わせは、神が私たちに与えた完璧な肉体に幸福と健康をもたらす。しかし、私たちの kokoro (mind) には否定的な思考が付着しており、それは私たちの完璧な肉体とは相容れない。そのため、私たちの身体には苦しみが現れる。神は私たちが純粋な kokoro (mind) を得るために、これらの否定的な考えを取り除くことを望んでいる。kokoro (mind) が純粋になれば、健康と幸福だけが私たち自身の魂からやってくる。
この祈りは、私たちが神の教えを広めた人々を救ってくださるよう神にお願いするものです。
神はどのようにしてその人々を救うのか。神が私たちの祈りを受け入れると、神はその人たちの中に入り、その人たちの心の中にある否定的な思いによって、病気をガイダンスとして配置する。彼らが行動するこれらの思いが、彼ら自身の魂が集め、蓄え、やがて苦しみとして彼らに現れるネガティブな運命を生み出すのだ。もし彼らが否定的な思考を取り除かなければ、これらの病気によって、神は彼らの未来を示しているのだ。神の導きを理解した人々は、おさづけによって癒されるために私たちの礼拝所にやってくる。これが世界を救う道である。
神の教えが世に広まらない理由は2つある：
1. 自分の心を清めるための自分の魂を理解していない。
2. 自分の祈り（よう·きつとめ）を理解していない。
