Two choices
新しい人々に教えを広めるには2つの方法がある。
A. 天理教が現在実践しているように 私たちは次のように伝えます。
1. 私たちのkokoro (mind) の中にある否定的な思いやほこりを取り除かなければなりません。
2. 毎日、Youki-tsutome をして、ほこりを取り除く。
3. 神の祝福を受けるために、神に食べ物を捧げ、献金しなければならない。
4. 神の祝福を受けるために、毎月教会に行き、よろづよと12の踊りに参加し、しばしば和服で、日本語で、間違えずに踊らなければならない。
5. 神の祝福を得るために苦しまなければならない。
6. 日本に巡礼して神に感謝し、おさづけで人を救う修行をする。(hinagata)
7. Kashimono karimono
また、天理教信者にとっても、入信してもらうために、まずどの教えを強調するかがジレンマとなる。
B. あるいは、こう伝える：
健康と幸福を得るためには、自分自身の魂（ムネ）を理解しなければなりません。教えを広めるにはもっと多くの段階が必要だが、まずは入会希望者がすでによく知っているテーマ、魂について話すことで、興味を持たせなければならない。
結論として
おふでさきの教えはとてもシンプルです。最初の節で神は、私たちは自分の魂を理解していないと教えています。 私たちは魂について、そして魂が私たちの体の中で何をしているのかを人々に教える必要があります。魂について人々に教えることで、より多くの人々が天理教に入信し、天理教員が世界を救うために教えを広めることがより容易になります。次に、教えを広めるための手順について説明しますが、これにはより詳細な説明が必要です。これには、「陽気づとめ」、「神様のお導き」、「おさづけ」が含まれます。
There are two ways of spreading the teachings to new people.
A. Like Tenrikyo is practicing now, we tell them:
1. We must remove our negative thoughts or dusts from our minds
2. We must remove the dusts by performing the Youki-tsutome daily
3. We must donate and offer food to God to receive God’s blessing
4. We must go to church every month and participate in the Yorozuyo and 12 dances, often dancing in Japanese attire, in Japanese, and without making a mistake to receive God’s blessing
5. We must suffer to attain God’s blessing (hinagata)
6. We must make pilgrimages to Japan to give thanks to God, and have training to save others with the Osazuke
7. A thing borrowed, a thing loaned
Also for the Tenrikyo member, the dilemma become what teachings to emphacize first to convince people to join the church.
B. Or tell them:
We must understand our own soul (mune) to attain health and happiness, and explain what the soul is and what it does. The spreading of the teachings will require more steps, but we must first peak the interest of the potential member by telling them about a subject they already are familiar with, the soul.
In conclusion:
Our teachings in the Ofudesaki are very simple. In the first verse God tells us that we do not understand our own soul. We need to teach people about the soul, and what it does while in our bodies. Teaching people about the soul will bring more people into our religion, and wil make it more easy for Tenrikyo members to spread the teachings to save the world. Then the steps to propagate the teachings will be explained later which requires more detail. These include the Youki-tsutome, God’s blessings of guidance, and the Osazuke.
THE SOUL
世界に健康と幸福をもたらすメッセージとは？
A. イエス、モハメッド、ブッダ、Oyasama を救世主として信じることでしょうか？
B. 神に祈りを捧げ、巡礼すること。
C. 十戒を守ること
D. 罪を悔い改めること
E. 天国や死後の世界を信じること
F. 魂を信じることでしょうか
G. 教会に出席し、献金をすることである。
H. 人に親切にするための説教か？
ひとつを除いたこれらの手順はすべて、なぜ世界に喜びや苦しみがあるのかを説明している。苦しみを取り除き、喜びと健康をもたらす方法を説明するのは、1つを除いたすべてである。正解はF、すなわち魂である。
世界で最も神聖な聖典である『おふでさき』の中で、神は私たちが魂（ムネ）を理解していないと説いている。私たちの肉体が死んでも、魂は次の目的地へと続いていく。魂とは、私たちが何者であるかの本質であり、私たちが永遠に生き続ける理由なのだ。しかし、ほとんどの人が知らないのは、私たち自身の行動を監視しているのは私たち自身の魂だということだ。私たちが蒔いた種を刈り取るのは、私たち自身の魂のせいなのだ。私たち自身の行動に対して罰を与えたり、報いを与えたりするのは神ではなく、私たち自身の魂なのだ。私たちの行動はすべて、私たちに影響を及ぼす。私たち自身の魂がすることを理解する妨げとなっているのは、時間、あるいは原因と結果の間の長引く時間である。
私たちの肉体にいる間、魂は私たちのネガティブな行動によるデメリット（ネガティブなエネルギー）を集めている。魂はそれを蓄積し、やがて適切な機会が訪れたときに、ネガティブな運命として私たちに返してくれる。来世までその機会が訪れないこともある。多くの人が、自分の行動には何の影響もないと思っているのはこのためだ。 私たちの肉体が死ぬと、魂は運命とそれに関連する思考を来世に持っていく。死は、私たちの運命とそれに関連する思考を消し去るわけではない。私たちは、次の人生でやり直すための白紙に戻すことはできないのだ。多くの人が信じているように、赤ん坊に罪はない。私たちは、前世からの宿命や思考（ポジティブなものであれネガティブなものであれ）を背負っている。
しかし、前世から覚えていないことをしたのだから、これは公平ではないと言う人もいるだろう。前世でやったことのせいで、私たちはただ苦しまなければならないのだろうか？ 神は、人生に否定的な運命が現れたとき、他人を責めるのではなく、その出来事に関連するかもしれない否定的な思考について、自分自身のkokoro (mind)を熟考するようにと教えている。その思いを行動に移さなければ、徐々に kokoro (mind) を浄化することができる。Kokoro (mind) が清らかであれば、魂から健康と幸福だけがもたらされる。だからこそ、私たちは自分自身の魂を理解する必要があるのです。
私たちが理解し、世界と分かち合わなければならないのは魂なのだ。神はその方法をおふでさきの中で教えておられる！ 神は、私たちは真理を持っているのだから、それを世に伝えなければならないと教えている。
What is the message that will bring health and happiness to the world?
A. Is it to believe in Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, or Oyasama as your savior
B. Is it to perform prayers to God, and make pilgrimages
C. Is Is to follow the Ten Commandments
D. Is it repent of your sins
E. Is it to believe in heaven or afterlife
F. Is it to believe in the soul
G. Is it to attend church and make donations
H. Is it sermons to be nice to people?
All these procedures except one explains why there is joy or suffering in the world. All but one explains how to remove suffering, and bring upon joy and health. It is F, or the soul that is the correct answer.
In the Ofudesaki, the most sacred scripture in the world, God tells us we do not understand the soul (mune). Most of us agree that when our physical body dies, our soul continues on to the next destination. You can call the soul the essence of who we are, and why we continue on for eternity. But what most people do not know is that it is our own soul that monitors our own behavior. We reap what we have sowed because of our own soul. It is not God that punishes or rewards us for our own actions, but it is our own soul. Everything we do, has an effect back on us. It is time or the prolonged time between cause and effect that hinders our understanding of what our own souls do.
While in our bodies, the soul collectes the demerits (negative energies) from our negative actions. It stores them, and eventually releases them as negative fate back to us when the right opportunity arises. Sometimes the right opportunity does not appear until our next lives. This is why many people think that their actions have no consequences on them. When our physical body dies, the soul takes the fates and their associated thoughts to the next life. Death does not erase our fates and their associated thoughts. We do not get a clean slate to start over in our next lives. A baby is not innocent as most people believe. We carry our fates and thoughts (positive or negative) from our previous lives.
But some will say that this is not fair, for the things we have done that we cannot remember from our previous lives. Are we to just suffer because of what we have done in our previous lives? God tells us when negative fates appear in our lives, not to blame others, but ponder our own minds for the negative thoughts that may be associated with the incidence. If we do not act upon these thoughts, we can gradually purify our minds. When our minds are pure, only health and happiness will come from our souls. This is why we need to understand our own souls.

Why Tenrikyo Does Not Grow in Membership
なぜ私たちの宗教は会員数が増えないのか。これがその理由である：
1. 純粋なkokoro (mind) を得るための魂を理解していない。
2. ひのきしんを理解していない
3. 祈りである Youki-tsutome」がわからない。
4. 病人におさづけをするタイミングがわからない。
それぞれについて説明しよう：
魂とは、神が世に理解してほしいと望んでいるものだ。私たちの行動を監視しているのは、私たち自身の魂である。私たちの肉体の中にいる間に、私たちの行動から得た短所と長所を集め、それを蓄積し、やがて適切な機会が訪れたときに、私たちの運命として私たちに返してくれる。適切な機会が訪れるのは、来世になってからかもしれない。肉体の機能が停止したとき、肉体を離れて天に昇るのは、私たちの運命とそれにまつわる思いを集めた魂である。やがて地上に戻り、過去の宿命とそれにまつわる思いを胸に、人生を続けるのもこの魂である。死は私たちに再出発や白紙委任を与えるものではない。多くの人が思っているように、赤ちゃんに罪はない。 だからこそ、苦しみや喜びが現れるのだ。私たちは自分の魂のために蒔いた種を刈り取る。 このことを世界は理解しなければならない。
ひのきしんという言葉がわからない。おふでさきにはないが、みかぐらうたにはある。 ひのきしんとは、つまり神への 貢献である。 ひのきしんとは、神の理である魂の理を他の人々に広めることです。 これは世界を救うために最も重要なことです。自分のkokoro (mind)を清めるために、魂を理解しなければならないことを伝えなければなりません。kokoro (mind) が清らかであれば、魂からは喜びしか生まれない。 ひのきしんは、公園掃除でも、教会掃除でも、災害支援でもない。
私たちは、日々の You-ki-tsutome の祈りを理解していない。 魂（ひのきしん）の理（ことわり）を広（ひろ）げてこそ、You-ki-tsutome も効力を発揮するのである。 私たちは、魂の真理を広めたことを人々（き）に納得してもらうよう、神様にお願いしているのです。 神はどのようにして魂の人々を納得させるのでしょうか？ 神はこれらの人々（き）に導き（you）を置き、彼ら自身の魂が何をするのかを理解させるのです。 これが、このおつとめが You-ki-tsutome と呼ばれる所以である。 Yoki-tsutome (Joyous Service)ではありません。
神が導きのために病を置かれた人々が、病を癒すために私たちの礼拝所にやってくるのである。おたすけが病気を治すのに効果的なのはこの時です。ほとんどの天理教人は、この目的のためにおさづけを使っていません。どんな病気でも治せると思っているのです。
世界を救うための教えは、おふでさきに説かれている。残念なことに、私たちの宗教も他の宗教と同じように、主要なメッセージが人間の心の習慣、儀式、儀礼に乗っ取られてしまっています。私たちはおふでさきの神の真理に立ち戻らなければなりません。そして、神様は私たちに「陽気づとめ」と「おさづけ」を授けることによって、私たちが他の人たちを納得させるのを助けてくださるのです。
Why our religion is not growing in membership. These are the reasons:
1. We do not understand the soul to obtain the pure mind
2. We do not understand hinokishin
3. We do not understand our prayer, You-ki-tsutome
4. We do not understand when to perform the Osazuke on sick people
Let me explain each of these subjects:
The soul is what God wants the world to understand. It is our own souls that monitor our behaviors. While in our bodies, it collects our demerits and merits from our actions, stores them, and eventually releases them as our fates back to us when the right opportunity arises. The right opportunity may not appear until our next lives. When our physical bodies stop functioning, it is the soul with the collection of our fates and their associated thoughts that leave our body and ascends to heaven. It is this same soul that eventually returns to earth to continue our lives, returning with our past fates and their associated thoughts. Death does not give us a fresh start or a clean slate. A baby is not innocent, like many people think. This is why suffering or joy appears. We reap what we have sowed because of our soul. This is what the world must understand.
The word hinokishin is not understood. The word is not in the Ofudesaki, but is in the Mikagura-uta. The word hinokishin is hito no kishin, or a person’s contribution to God. Hinokishin is the spreading of God’s truth of the soul to other people. This is most important to save the world. We must tell people that they must understand the soul to purify their own minds. When the mind is pure, only joy will come from the soul. Hinokishin is not cleaning parks, cleaning churches, or disaster relief.
We do not understand our daily prayer of the Youki-tsutome. It is only after the spreading the truth of the soul, or hinokishin that the Youki-tsutome becomes effective. We are asking God to convince the people (ki) that we have spread the truth of the soul. How does God convince these people of the soul? God places guidance (you) on these people (ki) to help them understand what their own soul does. This is why this service is called the You-ki-tsutome. It is not the Yoki-tsutome, or the Joyous Service.
It is these people that God places illness as guidance that come to our places of worship to be healed of their illness. This is when the Osazuke is effective in healing illness. Most Tenrikyo people are not using it for this purpose. They think that they can cure any illness.
The teachings to save the world are explained in the Ofudesaki. Unfortunately our religion like other religions, the main message has been taken over by customs, rituals, and ceremonies of the human mind. We must return to God’s truths in the Ofudesaki. We must understand our own soul, and God will help us convince others by granting us the Youki-tsutome and the Osazuke.
