Be a fool

In one of the stories, our founder of the religion told someone to be like a fool. That God loves fools. When I initially heard this it did not make sense.

But what is a characteristic of a fool. Webster defines fool as a person lacking in judgment or prudence. In religion and science since the earliest times, people that were not understood have been labeled as fools. For example, before the earth was considered to be flat, people that had declared the world to be round were ostracized and made fools of.  It is a mind that does care on how others react to our message; but it is a mind that is not discouraged, or angered by rejection. This is the mindset of the missionaries that God wants.

To continue to go forth with one’s faith  requires a mind that suppresses the ego. It is  mind that is determined to go forth even when people are making fun of you,  It is a mind not concerned with the self, but with the concern of others.

It is this mind set, that the early prophets set forth on, and it is this mind set that missionaries now continue forth knocking on stranger’s doors, introducing a new message that may not be greeted with open arms. With the passage of time more people will begin to understand, but for now it is okay to be a fool.
