Sometimes it is our attitude and the choice of words that we use that can have a profound effect on the person who we are trying to convey our message. For example Oyasama once told a follower:
All the work that you consider your own matter becomes your own. All you the work that you consider someone else’s matter belong to someone else.
When we are able to consider another person’s matter as our own, our attitude changes from “I’m doing you a favor” and “I’m doing this for you” to “Please allow me to do this for you.” This is how our faith in this path ought to be. *
When we realize that helping others brings upon our own salvation, the phrase “Please allow me to do this for you will” will become easier to say from our own mouths. The phrase also makes the recipient more comfortable to receive the help. As we all know, sometimes it is very difficult to ask for help from others.
Sometimes the urge to volunteer or help others becomes stagnant. But if we realize that true joy can only be the result of shared joy, then matters of others become our concerns. When we realize this , helping others becomes an important goal. Then the phrase “Please allow me to do this for you” will become part of your daily routine!
