Changing your future

How important is it to understand causality (law of cause and effect) in order to understand God’s intentions. By understanding causality, we can also understand that the body is a thing borrowed from God and the mind is ours to use.  How we use our mind is reflected on our borrowed bodies. We do not have 100 percent control of what happens to us, although our mind sometimes mistakenly thinks we do.  The following is a quote from the Osashizu:

Not understanding the truth of causality will never do. Causality refers to the same one truth as a “thing borrowed.” Something that comes about is causality; something that does not come about is also causality. From this, understand. February 10, 1901

The law of cause and effect explains that we cannot change our future, and also it says that we can change our future.  Does this sound confusing? No matter how much we pray, what we want to happen may not occur, and what we don’t want to happen may happen. This is the law of cause and effect. We cannot change this part of the future because the effect is the result of our past actions. We cannot go back in the past to change our actions. But we can change our actions today and change our future. By removing evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) today, we can guarantee a joyous future. Acknowledging this concept of law of cause and effect gives us the ability to have a joyous future. This is the future that God wanted when he created mankind.
