Someone once said that if life becomes depressing, one should reflect deep within to find out what is causing this depression. This is where the psychologist and psychiatrist perform their miracles in treating depression. There is another theory that tells the individual to look beyond oneself in finding joy. This means thinking about helping others to find joy. This makes sense in that by thinking about our own concerns, we are likely to become depressed when events go contrary to our expectations. Some would say that depression is a selfish disease.
In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki) is the following:
If you are a mind to save others single-heartedly,
I shall firmly accept you, even if you say nothing. 3-38
If all the world comes to help one another,
God will accept all your minds. 13-38
When we look beyond our selfish concerns, our hearts become one with God, and inevitably we become spirited like God.
