Why We Need to Understand the Soul

Do you sometimes wonder where you were before you were born? Were you able to think like what you are doing now? Will you be able to think when you die? It is amazing to see an infant as he or she smiles at us. Do you ever wonder where he or she was before conception? Our physical bodies, including our nervous system will decay when we die. Will we become nothing?  It is a little scary, especially as we become older and closer to death.

Religion often attempts to alleviate our worries by promising eternity in heaven.  But again, our physical bodies are gone. How will we be able to think without our nervous system? Is death the end of our existence?

If death is not the end of us, what is it that makes us live for eternity? Is there something in our bodies that will continue on after our physical bodies cease to function.  It cannot be an organ or part of the body because they all eventually decay; but can it be some type of energy that can easily transfer from our bodies after our death, taking some of our vital information with us. Can this energy enter heaven, and somehow by God’s power make us think as we are now? Can these same energies, return back to earth, and take up a new body entering a newborn baby?

What information will these energies contain? It will not be our memories, since no one can remember anything before our births.  Personally, I cannot even remember anything before 3 or 4.  I remember when I was in kindergarten, but maybe it is because I have pictures that I occasionally view. Could these energies contain our thought patterns? Our thought patterns or how we think, separates each of us from each other.  Some people believe that it is our thought patterns that create our fate when we act upon them.  This is similar to the concept of karma and cause and effect. We reap what we have sowed.  Our fate is contained in these energies. These thought patterns and fate are carried as energies from one lifetime to another.  In summary, these energies are composed of our fate and thought patterns, which are closely associated with each other, as one causes the other.  Can these energies be what people call the soul, heart or spirit?

What are these thought patterns that make each of different in the way we think? These thought patterns are greed, arrogance, resent, and self-love.  Everyone has a different combination of these negative thoughts in our minds. It is these negative thoughts that cause our negative fate when we act upon them.  Our fate and thought patterns are collected, stored and eventually released from our bodies when we physically die.

By understanding the soul, we can assure ourselves that we live for eternity; but we can also live the joyous life by eliminating our negative thought patterns by not acting upon them. Our souls will then have only positive energies that will only bring upon joy to our borrowed bodies.
