According to the Ofudesaki, God tells us that illness and sufferings occurs because the mistaken mind’s path exist. Our actions upon the evil thoughts in our minds results in the inevitable sufferings to ourselves in the future. We reap what we have sowed. These evil thoughts are greed, arrogance, disappointment, covetousness, and self-love. It is these thoughts, that God tells us to remove from our minds so we do not act upon them.
Whatever happens, illness that is said, furthermore is unacceptable.
Because the mistaken mind’s path exist. 3-97
These paths are disappointment, covetousness, self-love,
greed, and arrogance. These are the dusts. 3-98
God wants us to remove these evil thoughts from our minds. God tells us that when one attains the pure mind, our minds will become spirited, and only joy will come from our own hearts/souls.
This is the message we should spread to the world. In the Ofudesaki, God gives us the instructions to purify our own minds. God also gives us the ingredients to share these truths to the world. Unfortunately, like in most religions, ceremonies, rituals and prayers have prioritized over the truths that God wants to convey. Are ceremonies and ritual important in religion? Yes, but they should come secondary to the core teachings of God.
What is the purpose of our Services, and prayers? Is it to appease, praise, acknowledge, offer tidings and sacrifices to an all powerful God. In many religions, this appears to be the case. But in the Ofudesaki, God is called the parent, who cares for all human beings. This loving God grants us a special prayer, that helps us to spread God’s teachings to save others.
God has granted us the Joyous Service. It is called the salvation Service, as it is meant to save everyone. By this special prayer, we are asking God to help purify the minds of the people we have spread God’s teachings to. With the mind purified, only joy with come from their hearts. This is why God created human beings, to live the Joyous life.
The problem arises when God’s teachings of the Original pure mind, and how to attain this mind, is not conveyed first. But more emphasis is placed on the salvation services, and its ceremonies which should take place afterwards. We are putting the cart before the horse. This is why most of our prayers are not being answered by God. In the Ofudesaki, God tells us that when our minds are purified, God will accept our prayers and provide any blessings. These blessings help us convey God’s truth to others. Remember the members of the Tenrikyo Religion only comprise of only a scant .04 percent of the world population today. We need to spread God’s truths to the world! These instructions are all in the Ofudesaki.
