A Prayer for God’s Blessing

Some people believe when there in injustice, it is all right to protest by looting, and hurting others. We see this when African Americans believe that there is injustice. This was not always the case. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks believed in a nonviolent protest. Many believe that violence against the opposition is approved by God, and therefore will succeed in their efforts to make changes. But protests, especially violent ones do not usually succeed. It is a rare occurrence when a wall comes down. An eye for an eye may not be a viable remedy for injustice. We can oppose and speak out against injustice, but we cannot remedy by our own actions the injustices that are inflicted on us.

How do we then address the injustices directed at us, or to others? We ask God to help us. How does God help us? We do not expect God to strike our enemies by a lightening strike, or drown them by a torrid flood. We ask God to help them sweep evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) from their minds. Imagine asking God to help our enemies? But this is how we can eliminate injustice. A prayer for God’s blessing is what will make the world better.

Tenrikyo /A Religion of Arrogance or Tolerance

It is interesting that the Muslim religion is said to be the fastest growing religion in the world. It is also interesting that a research done by the Igarape Institute has found that Muslims inhabit the cities that are more prone to collapse. The following is the initial paragraph of the article:

According to Robert Muggah, global security expert and research director at the think tank Igarapé Institute, there are a total of 66 cities dealing with such rapid urbanization, high unemployment, and risk of natural disaster and violence that they’re highly vulnerable to physical or economic collapse.

Why does a religion expand in spite of the suffering and violence that continue upon its people? I believe it is arrogance that fuels the fire to the people that suffer. The mind of arrogance leads to hate and enmity, which like an infection is easily transmitted from person to person. Throughout history, false prophets and clergy have blamed others for their sufferings. They have used the emotion of hate and fear in harvesting new members. They use God, and often call out his name before inflicting pain and death on their victims. But in spite of their devotion, their people continue to be plagued by poverty and suffering. The fervor of hate also clouds their minds as they suffer. The clergy tells them to be patient as paradise waits for them in heaven.

God Cannot Change the Effect of Karma

How powerful is karma or the law of cause and effect? In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki), God says that sometimes he cannot change the effect of karma. The following concerns a parent asking for the health of a child.

You say that you wish to train the child for two or three more years.

But she is no longer in the hands of God. 1-60

Ponder well; however dear she may be to you, her parent,

She is no longer in the hands of God. This will not be realized. 1-61

Like the law of gravity, God cannot change the rules of nature. But like any law, the results are certain; like what goes up, must come down. It is also the same with karma. Good thoughts and behaviors result in joy, while evil thoughts and behaviors result in suffering. Karma sometimes gets a bad name for its negative effect and blame of the self; but it also explains why we have joy. We control our own destiny by our actions of today. What natural laws God has given us, no man can change; sometimes not even God can alter the effects of karma.   Remember, that no matter how much we suffer today, by our positive response to our suffering, we can create a joyous future.

Tenrikyo /Why God Does Not Send his Prophets

Have you wondered why God does not send his messengers in this modern world of ours? Where are the Jesus, Buddha, and the Prophets? In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki) is a verse:

Though I have gathered many and varied trees,
those that are like a distorted mirror will not do. 3-50

A distorted mirror does not see the real image, as a mind that is clouded in evil (greed, hate, arrogance, and self love), does not see the real truth. In today’s world we see corruption, and lies in our politicians, but still people support their candidates. Racial conflicts create hate and arrogance, where truth does not matter any more. In the Book of Prophecy is another verse that may explain why God does not send his Prophets any more.

This is a world constructed on reason

So I shall press upon you everything with the reason in verse. 1-21

In today’s world, we have so much anger, arrogance, greed, and self-love that we are not able to see the truth when God sends them to us. God waits for us to be like a mirror that reflects the true image.

Tenrikyo /Sowing the Seeds

Sowing the seeds and planting the seeds are phrases used in agriculture, but they have also been used in religion as parables. In farming the seeds have to be planted in soil that has minerals and vitamins for the seeds to sprout. This is the first part in harvesting a crop. In religion, we are introducing God’s truth to the world. Like the seed in the enriched soil, we are surrounding people with God’s truth. This is the first part in bringing people to our churches. This spreading of the teachings can also be called hinokishin.

The second part in farming is to protect the sprouting plant (embryo) from weeds, and insects. Farmers often weed and use pesticides to protect the developing plant. In religion, we are told to weed our minds of greed arrogance, and self-love. When we attain this mindset, it is called true sincerity. It is also this mindset that will make the fertilizer that we will expound on next, effective in bringing in new members to our churches.

The third part of farming is to continue to provide nourishment to the plants. Farmers use fertilizer to reap a harvest of crops. In our religion God has given us a special prayer called the Joyous Service. When God accepts this sincere prayer, he will provide nourishment and guidance to people, and bring new members to our churches. God tells us to spread the Joyous Service.

So why have our churches not grown, and which part in our harvesting are we lacking?

You Do Not Understand the Heart

You do not understand the heart is what God tells us in the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki). But what is this heart that God tells us that we do not understand? I do not believe that God is referring to the physical heart that keeps our bodies alive; but I believe it is the soul, which allows us to be conscious for eternity. Where is this soul in our bodies, and what is its function?

Some would say that the soul resides in the body, and others will say that the soul also can reside outside the body, perhaps in Heaven with God. Scientists have never located this soul, and cannot prove the physical existence. Perhaps the soul is comprised of only energy, like positive energy; and like a computer chip, it can store billions of information about our conscious mind?

God also tells us that the heart (soul) is like sand, which attracts our negative thoughts. The positive soul attracting negative energy, which coincides with scientific law that negative and positive energy attract. So the soul can be covered with the negative energies of our mind, and can be the storage center of our conscious. It is this soul with its baggage that leaves the body, when we physically die. Some would say that this soul would go to heaven or hell depending on how much baggage surrounds the soul. Those who believe in reincarnation will say that the soul will eventually inhabit a growing fetus, bringing with it the negative energy from its previous lives.

What happens to this negative energy that surrounds our souls? Physical law says that energy is never created or destroyed; it is only transferred. Perhaps, the negative energy causes cancer or tumors in our bodies; perhaps it is released from the soul, and comes back to us as misfortunes (accidents, natural disasters, etc.).

The last chapter (Chapter 17) of the Book of Prophecy, God again tells us that we still do not understand. We do no understand the pure heart (soul) that each of us inherently have. God tells us to sweep the heart of dust (negative energy). How do we do this? We must remove the thoughts of greed, arrogance, and self love. These are the negative energies that surround our once pure hearts. If these thoughts lessen, eventually our souls or hearts will be free of the negative energies. When this occurs, only joy will emanate from our pure hearts.

Tenrikyo /Why people Go to Church

Why do most people go to church? They want someone to tell them that there is hope, and a bright future; and that there are extraneous forces that make them suffer.  They want someone to tell them that there is a caring God that will protect them like a parent protects their child.

The evangelist tells us that God places tests on us to prove our faith in him. They recite verses from the bible where God tests the faith of the early followers, sometimes commanding them to kill their only child. They tell us that if we have unconditional faith, God will give blessings that we would have never dreamed about. But why does God need to tests our faith in him, when God already has faith in the goodness of every individual.

The problem with these positive and optimistic sermons is that most people will not experience God’s blessings of health, and fortune that these evangelists often preach about. Yes, there will be a few exceptions by statistical chance; and the evangelist will often give them as examples of God’s blessings in their sermons. But for most people, having faith will not reverse their sufferings or misfortunes. Hope may be eternal, but blind faith sometimes only leads to the bigger pockets of these evangelists and their sponsors.

Hope and faith sometimes diminishes when suffering continues; but these evangelists often tell us that our blessings will come in the afterlife. They often continue to sell their promise of blessing in the afterlife if we continue to have faith in spite of our sufferings

God knows our true heart. He already has faith in our innermost heart because he is our creator. God has faith that we all can be good, without greed, arrogance, and self-love. It is change from within our hearts that provides God’s blessings in the future. We control our own destiny by our thoughts and actions of today.   This is in contrast to what the evangelist tells us. They believe that change must originate from the outside. This change is initiated by unconditional faith in God. God then helps removes the evil external forces, which make our lives, better. It is like a severe infection caused by a bad tooth. We can eliminate the infection by killing the external bacteria, but without the removal of the internal tooth, the infection or suffering will come back. The source of our sufferings comes from within us. Unlike what the evangelist tell us, we must sweep the evils from within us, before God’s blessings are provided. Faith is good, but change from within may provide God’s blessing of joy.

Tenrikyo /Killing God

Killing God is the title of my blog today. But how can we kill God? If we believe that we were created out of the image of God, can we not imagine that God used parts of himself in creating us; more specifically our physical bodies are part of God. When we hurt others or even ourselves, are we not hurting God? When a religion kills in the name of God, do they not know that they are killing God? Our bodies are loans from God; but the conscious (soul or heart) is ours, to use our minds as we please. What mind are you using to keep God whole?

If we can humanize God, God is not well. He is very ill. We have a world where our bodies (God) are taken for granted. Some of us abuse ourselves with drugs, and alcohol. Others abuse and try to control women, the gender that delivers God’s loans (our bodies) to us. We become selfish and arrogant believing that we control our own bodies, and the bodies of others. We do not know that our bodies are part of God. Killing God may appear to be a ridiculous idea; but what if God is now very ill, what will happen when God dies?

Tenrikyo /Quid Pro Quo

It was interesting hearing a commentator on one of the news stations concerning the recent Clinton Foundation controversy, and pay for play (quid pro quo). He stated that in politics, it is difficult to prove a cause and effect. It is the same with the Iranian hostage/ransom controversy. Sometimes the time interval of cause and effect are prolonged making the relationship difficult to connect; but sometimes like the hostage release/payment, it is immediate. In any case, either people do not see a relationship because of time, or simply do not care to see a connection even if two incidents occur one after the other.

In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), God tells us that there is evil and good behavior in this world, and there is suffering and joy in the world. You see both, but you do not understand. We have lived in many mansions (bodies). Our actions of today manifest upon ourselves in the future, many times in our next reincarnation. God tells us to reflect on what happens every day, and accept whatever occurs in a positive manner. By the principle of cause and effect, this will bring upon a joyous future. God has given us control of our own destiny by our actions and thoughts of today.

Tenrikyo /Fact that Most Religions Do Not Want You to Know

FACT THAT MOST RELIGIONS DO NOT WANT YOU TO KNOW:

The removal of greed, arrogance, and self love from your thoughts will bring you happiness in the future. It does not matter if you believe in heaven, reincarnation or even in a God.

Why is our religion different from others? We have a very special prayer (Joyous Service) asking God to help us share this truth (removing greed, arrogance, and self love will bring happiness) with other people.  The following is the Welcome page of our website which introduces our special religion.

Welcome to the Heaven’s Truth Religion (Tenrikyo). We want to share God’s simple truth. The removal of greed, arrogance, miserliness, covetousness, and self-love from our minds will result in joy. The accumulation of these evils or dusts will result in future sufferings for the individual. We believe that true joy is shared joy. We cannot experience true joy while others suffer. For this reason, God has given us a special prayer that will allow us to share God’s truth with others. This is a website created to introduce the teachings of the Heaven’s Truth Religion; and to spread the teachings that will save all mankind.

What causes suffering in this world? What causes illness? What causes tragedies? What causes natural disasters?  All these answers are in the Book of Prophecy (Fudesaki).  The solution to these problems are also contained in the Book of Prophecy.

INTRODUCTION:

God descended from Heaven to save all mankind and has given us the Book of Prophecy (Fudesaki), which contains the instructions to save all mankind.

God asks us to understand causality and reincarnation; and understand how they affect our lives today and tomorrow. We create our future by our thoughts and actions of today.

God encourages us to remove evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our thoughts and behaviors. This will make our minds spirited, and by the principle of causality bring forth joy to ourselves. But God tells us that true joy is shared joy. How do we share joy with others?

God has given us a special prayer to share our religion with others. This prayer is called the Joyous Service, sometimes referred to as the fertilizer (koe).

OUR BELIEFS:

We believe in the law of causality and reincarnation. Good thoughts and actions result in joy.  Evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) thoughts and actions result in suffering and inconveniences in the future. Cause and effect have no time limitations. The effects of our actions may not develop until the next life.

With the acceptance of our special prayer (Joyous Service), God will begin to shorten the time lapse between the cause and effect, making the relationship easier to understand. That illness or suffering may be God informing you of the misuse of your mind. God gives you a glimpse of the future by this guidance. By pondering the illness and responding positively, one has the ability to create a joyous future. This special prayer brings people to our churches, so we can introduce them to Gods’ truths on how to live a joyous life.
