Imagine a world without greed, arrogance and self love.

Imagine a world without greed, arrogance and self love.

If we could imagine a world without greed, arrogance or self love. What will it look like. Instead of spending billions on the military, we could spend it on our education. Instead of spending billions on prisons and police, we could spend it on transportation and health. How much money do we spend now protecting our houses from crime? Imagine the profits generated from not having to worry about law suits, or large insurance premiums. Imagine politicians caring about people instead of their pockets. Imagine companies that actually care about there employees. Imagine people enjoying their jobs. Imagine how less expensive gas will become. Imagine the world living in peace and happiness. Imagine a world without worries. The world spends trillions in dollars protecting ourselves from each other. How much energy and our time do we spend on this? What would happen if we spent this money and effort to help others? I believe that this is a world that God wants!

Some may say that this world is unrealistic. Some may say that we are talking about heaven. In our religion we believe in heaven on earth. God will eventually sweep these evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our hearts. All mankind will be saved, and live a joyous life.

Can knowledge make us good?

Can knowledge make us good?

Sometimes I think arrogantly, I know all about our church, the teachings, etc. I am a “good person” Can I make a deal with God to get rid of my past causality (innen, Karma), or guarantee my access into heaven. Do I need to suffer more on this earth?  God trust me, you can trust me that I am good?

But speaking from my experiences, unexpected occurrences happen in our lives, and  we end up regretting our thoughts or actions.  I believe God places these obstacles to help us completely sweep evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our hearts. Sometimes we have so much dusts (evils) imbued in our hearts that we may need  multiple challenges from God before these evils are purged from our minds.

Some people say that God is testing us with these obstacles, but in our religion we say that God is helping us remove our evils from our minds. When we reflect and ponder on these occurrences as guidance from God, our negative responses will eventually become less; and with time, these guidance from God will lessen, until evil no longer exist in our hearts. Yes knowledge is important for salvation, but it is this everyday interactions that are placed before us, that eventually determines  if we are a “good “.

Fountain of Youth discovered

Fountain of Youth discovered

Throughout history, mankind has searched for the elixir that will keep us eternally young. For example in the 16th century Spanish Explorer Juan Ponce de Leon went to Florida in search of the fountain of youth, but returned unsuccessful.

In our religion, God promises us that when the Kanrodai (Heavenly dew Stand) is completed, mankind will live forever without illness or weakening.

When the pillar is set up in Nihon,

you shall no longer fall ill, die, or become weakened.  X-11

But there is a large hurdle that must be taken before this will occur. God promises the completion of this stand only when all mankind is purified. This occurs only when greed, arrogance, and self love disappear from our minds. This may appear to be a herculean task,  and almost impossible considering the plight of the world today. But with our special prayer, God will guide us step by step to create a world of joy. When this happens,  the eternal life will be available to all.

Is God working?

Is God working?

In the Tip of the Writing Brush, God reminds us that he will go out to work to save all mankind; but with conflicts in the Middle East, corruptions, wars and religions that divide the masses, where are God’s workings today?

It our sacred book, God places emphasis on understanding, and reminds us throughout the book that we do not understand. Could it be that the world will not be able to understand God’s workings if it was placed in front of them. Would God’s workings just be ignored? Is this the reason that God may not be working?

In Chapter 14, God tells us now is the time to tell others and that there will be no understanding of anything unless you tell them. What is this that God wants us to inform the world?

God wants the world to understand God’s workings when they are given out. We need to tell the world that illness and disease will be placed on their bodies dependent on how they use their minds.  This is how God begins to sweep away evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our minds. These disorders will be cured when we ponder, and eliminate these evils from our minds. When this occurs, our future will become more joyous.

For God to work, we must tell the world what God is going to do. When this occurs, then God will begin to work, and people will finally understand God’s intentions for a joyous world.

How do we know God is out there?

How do we know that God is out there?

There is a parable that I recently heard about a man who was stuck on the rooftop during a hurricane. During the recovery, a few rescue boats came to him, but he refused help, saying that God would save him. Eventually he passed away, and went to heaven. He was a little perturbed at God, asking why God did not save him. God reminded him that he had sent two boats to rescue him, but both times he had refused.

This story is just a parable, but how many times have we ignored God’s guidance, or were not aware of it? In our religion we believe that God will eventually guide everyone into living a joyous life. What are the signs he gives us?  How about that cold that keeps on lingering or about the constant headaches that we can’t get rid of. Was that palpation of the heart, just a normal irregularity?  Can all these disorders be just coincidence, explained by science, or is there more to it? Can God be guiding us?

In our religion we believe that God guides us to help us eliminate evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our minds.  When we ponder and remove these evils from our minds, the disorders (God’s guidance) are also removed.  But more important, our future becomes more joyous. When the world becomes aware of God’s workings, the evils from our minds would eventually be swept by it self.

So the next time, something appears on your body, don’t brush it aside, God may be trying to help you!

WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO SEE THE TRUTH

WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO SEE THE TRUTH

Today as tradition in our family goes, was the day to pick a Christmas tree. The easy decision every year is what type of tree to get. Should we get the more expensive Douglas fir or the more reasonable priced pine tree?  But the more difficult process in setting up the perfect Christmas tree is placing the stand to set the tree straight in our living room.

Before setting the screws on the stand, we ask family members if the tree appears straight from their location. We always get different answers depending on their position to the tree. The person holding the tree, or nearest the tree will most always agree that the tree is straight at any position. We all finally go to each position and compromise to the final position of the tree.

I believe we can compare this to why sometimes we cannot understand the truth. We see things from only our perspective (side of the tree). We need to go around and look from different perspective to understand the whole situation. This is why we must open our minds, and also be more tolerant to people with different views.

Anger management

Anger Management

Even many of us who read our sacred books become victims to anger, arrogance, greed and self- love.  We know these emotions and feelings are wrong in most of our religions, but they are difficult to eradicate from our minds.

In our religion, we call these evils (paths of the mistaken mind) dusts. Like the dusts that accumulate in our houses, they are easy to wipe away when new, but when they accumulate, they become imbued to the surface, and our difficult to sweep away. For example, this is why anger arises even in religious people who are determined to follow the teachings, yet struggle with their emotions when confronted with difficult situations. These dusts have been accumulating for a long time and are difficult to remove by ourselves.

This is why I believe in the power of prayer. We need God to help us sweep these evils from our minds.  That is why we pray daily

“Evil sweeping, save us please, Universal Saving God”

If you pray daily, God will help you eventually sweep these evils away!

Why God does not talk to us?

Why God does not talk to us?

Do you wonder why God does not come out and speak to us directly? In the history of mankind, it is said that God has sent Moses, Mohammed, Jesus, Buddha and Oyasama according to the respective religions.

God I believe is like a parent that wants his or her child to live a happy life.  The love is unconditional. Like the warmth of an infant’s smile, God only wants his children to be happy . Yes we want our children to succeed in this world from a human perspective, but it is their  happiness that we really want.

How do we parents prepare our children for happiness. We guide them to understand everything they see.  In early years to protect them, we  are dictatorial, and demand their attention. But as they grow older, our leash becomes longer, and they are able to make their own decisions and are able to grow as individuals.  In families where the leash is always  short, the children  may never grow to reach their full potential.  I believe that God acts on this same principle.

God has in the past, given us prophets to guide us and has given us the “Truth”.  But for us children to grow spiritually, we must find the truth by ourselves.  God is giving us this opportunity now to find this truth.  God only wants the best for his children, that is why he does not speak directly to us now.

Why is prayer so important?

Why is prayer so important?

Our prayer is an extraordinary prayer that is  concise, yet it is full of meaning! Please click on the prayer on the menu to see our complete prayer.

Evil Sweeping, Save us please, Universal Saving God.

Let us decipher this statement. Evil refers to the paths of the mistaken mind which includes greed, arrogance, and self love. Sweeping refers to God distinguishing our minds, and placing disorders or illness on our bodies appropriate to the evils we have today in our hearts. Us refers to all mankind. We are saved when we reflect on our disorders, and rid ourselves of greed, arrogance, and self love. When this is done, we are also saved physically by returning the disorder back to God. Without these evils in our hearts, our behavior becomes good, creating a joyous future.

But the second part of the prayer is different from the first part. It does not appear to be asking God for help. I believe that this part was included to remind us of the origin of mankind. Why was mankind created? According to the Tip of the Writing Brush, God created mankind to live a joyous life. Without this knowledge, our prayers may be misdirected to selfish goals.  I believe this second part was placed to focus the individual on the purpose of our prayer.

The third part of our prayer is like the first part in that it is concise and full of meaning.

Evil Sweeping, Save us quickly. All mankind purified, the Joyous Life.

Let us dissect this statement.  We are asking God to  sweep away even like the first part, but it is also asking God to hasten this process. This part also gives the individual hope of what will happen when the sweeping is completed. In essence, it is almost like the first part of the prayer, but it  motivate the individual by being able to see the finish line.

If this confuses you, Just pray to God that someday all mankind live a joyous life! Yes, get rid of greed, arrogance, and self love in your heart, and also ask God to help you.

What sin (dust) is the worst?

Which sin (dust) is the worst?

What are the sins that causes sufferings in the world? In the Tip of the Writing brush, there are 5 dusts mentioned. These are arrogance, greed, miserliness, covetousness and self love. In other Tenrikyo references, anger, hate and grudge bearing are included.

Of the 8 dust, two are mentioned the most in our church doctrines. These are greed and arrogance. Miserliness and covetousness, can  be included as part of greed. While anger, hate, and  grudge bearing can also be part of the dust of arrogance.

But what dust is seen more frequently in the world today and which one causes the most suffering in this world?  In the Tip of the writing brush, Greed is mentioned the most. In this world, we see greed of wealth and power.  For many of us, we think that wealth and power will give us happiness. Many try to attain it even if it means that others may suffer.

But we see arrogance in this world causing wars and destruction. There are many people in the world that think they are better than others, and sometimes even  claim that God favors  them.  Even some religions show their arrogance by their ban on other religions, and their harsh treatment of those that do not follow their teachings.

But the dust of self love appears to encompass all the dusts. If we are honest and work hard and start to worry less about our selves , then God  will take care of everything, and the world will become joyous for all.
