Why is it more difficult for a rich person to get into heaven?

Why is it more difficult for a rich person to get into heaven?

In many religions, there are references to the difficulties of the wealthy obtaining God’s truth.  In the Christian religion, it was the evil pharaohs and kings that opposed the Christian religion, while in our religion, the high places or high mountains opposed our new religion.  Why is it more difficult for the rich to obtain religion?

The rich of course have money. Money replaces the dependency of God. Money can buy insurance against disasters, like car, health, and home insurance. Money can buy security, like personal security guards and home security systems. Luxury cars have many safety features not common in the standard automobile.  Having money reduces our stress concerning future events like college for the children, or cost of vacations, etc.  Money also reduces our dependency on other human beings.  We can isolate ourselves from each other when we have money. Some say that money gives us the ability to experience heaven on earth. Money, wealth, and power is sometimes confused with happiness. Many people try to gain happiness by seeking wealth and power.

Let us consider the poor. They usually cannot afford the high cost insurance that protects them from unexpected catastrophes. They cannot isolate themselves from others like the rich. They like the rich think that money and power may lead to their happiness. They may complain about the rich, but many try to emulate and envy them. Because of this mentality, they are susceptible to religions and governments that may take advantage of their predicaments.  Religions promise a better future for these people.  Religions that promise extravagant riches and rewards in the afterlife may appeal to the most poor. On the negative side, some may even accept these religions and disregard their present conditions. Faith whether authentic or false, becomes their insurance against calamity and suffering.

In both the rich and poor, it is the perception of happiness that causes the alienation or proclivity toward religion. Being rich is not a sin, as being poor is not a sin.  Only when we realize that wealth and power is not the purpose of life, will we all able to lean and rely truly on God for our happiness.  The poor may be more receptive to religion, but both rich and poor do not understand the purpose of life.  The purpose is not to gain wealth or power. The purpose is to have joy. This is only possible when all mankind live a joyous life.

Why do our prayers sometimes fail?

Why do our prayers sometimes fail?

In our religion we have two stages of the mind, the purified and the spirited. Both stages are aware of God’s teachings, and continue to develop spiritually. One stage is able to understand the initial and final teaching that all mankind was created to live a joyous life. The purified mind knows this concept, but is yet to sincerely believe in this truth. For example, there are people who are dedicated to the church, and follow the teachings for selfish purposes, thinking that God will favor them or their families.  These people may be considered pillars to the church, but fall one step short in finding salvation.

The spirited mind is convinced that all mankind was created to live a joyous life, and their actions always reflect this view. They believe by saving others, God will bless them. This stage is difficult to reach due to our selfish minds and the always-lingering doubt of the existence of God.  From both stages, prayers are initiated, but from only the spirited stage are our prayers answered.

Next time when you pray, pray for the world. God knows your situation and will help you even if you don’t say a word.

The Path to World Salvation

PATH TO WORLD SALVATION

thepath

  1. Spreading the teachings to the world, especially in the same language and customs of the region; spreading the message that God will begin to start sweeping our evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) by placing disorders and illness on our bodies. The sazuke or healing prayer effective at this stage to introduce a new religion.
  2. The mind becomes open to understanding and has an awareness of a new teaching, especially on God’s guidance.
  3. Praying to God to sweep away the evils (arrogance, greed, and self love) from spirited minds. *
  4. God answers the prayers by placing disorders and illness on bodies.
  5. Pondering of the illness and disorders on the bodies in relationship to the evils in the minds.
  6. The mind accepts the relationship between evil and God’s guidance. The mind begins the process of sweeping the evils. Illness and disorders begin to disappear from the body.
  7. The origin, our prayer and the sacred book is sprinkled on the mind.
  8. The mind continues to sweep evil from the mind, but believes in the “Origin” that all mankind was created to live a joyous life. True sincerity is gained.

*Only in the spirited stage will our prayers (Joyous Service) be answered.

Does prayer work

Does Prayer work?

Have you ever prayed for selfish purposes? I am sure that before or after the SATs or any scholastic exams, God receives thousands of prayers. How about during the Super Bowl, you would think there might be a blackout in heaven from all the prayers coming from Las Vegas. These are selfish prayers. How about the prayers after 9-11? These were prayers that were sincere. Millions of people throughout the world prayed for the victims of this horrendous crime against humanity.

But do you think any of these prayers have any effect on God? I would think that God can see the minds of the world, and can distinguish our fears and hopes in any situations.  Do we need to formally pray to God? These prayers may not affect God’s actions but I believe that prayer helps the individual gain comfort in times of stress, and calms the mind. These prayers are a blessing by themselves.

What prayers do actually have an influence on God? We have a prayer that asks God to sweep away our evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our minds. This prayer besides asking God for guidance, reinforces our efforts to rid ourselves of these evils from our hearts. This is not a selfish prayer, but a prayer asking God to create a world of joy, which was envisioned before our creation. Yes, God can understand our prayer without prostrating and praying, but by our outward prayer, the world can understand the purpose of our prayer. This prayer will eventually bring happiness and peace to the world.

It’s a wonderful life

It’s a Wonderful life

We all know the story of George Bailey in the Wonderful Life. Clarence the Angel made him realize how important his life was by showing him how the future would have been affected if he had never been born.  The movie ends with George and his family celebrating Christmas. But we never know what happens in George’s future. We all presume George had a great life. But would there still be doubt in George about his future? Would his loan company survive? Would the evil banker continue to interrupt Georges’ plans?  Would Clarence’s success prevent George from taking his life in the future? But what would have happened if Clarence had shown George his future.  George would have seen the success of his loan customers, the success of his loan company, the fame of his brother, and happiness of his family.  This view of the future would have definitely stopped any notion of his suicidal thoughts in the future. What if God gives us a glimpse of our future?

In my past blogs, I have often discussed God’s guidance mostly in terms of illness and disorders of the body, reflecting the evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) in our minds. But what if, we have no evils (greed and arrogance) in our minds like the fictional character George?  God also gives us guidance when using our minds in a positive manner. This guidance confirms our positive mental spirit. These positive signs that God gives us may be good health, prosperity, and happiness of mind. For example, when obstacles occur in our lives, if we are using our minds appropriately, God may bless us so we can easily overcome these obstacles!  So we must be attentive to whatever happens. God may be guiding us by giving a glimpse of the future, so we can live a “wonderful life”.

There may be a Christmas Scrooge in you

There may be a Christmas Scrooge in you

In the Scrooge movie, Ebenezer Scrooge was fortunate to see his pathetic future, and the future of Tiny Tim.  Even for a man considered not having a heart, this was an unsettling thought. Fortunately, he was able to see the “light”, and changed his ways.  Tiny Tim was saved, and the Scrooge was able to have a fulfilling life with many friends. His ominous fate was altered because of his change in behavior!

This is only a popular Christmas fairy tale, but won’t it be wonderful if we were able to see a glimpse of our future? Miracles may exist! In our most sacred book there is a quote, verse V-2:

This time, I shall make your future known in this life.

Look at the disorders of your body.

Like the Scrooge we may be able to see our future by the disorders and illnesses that God places before us.  If we change our behavior by eliminating greed, arrogance, and self-love from our hearts, these disorders will disappear; but more important, because of our change in behavior, our future like the Scrooge will be joyous. Who knows, there may even be a Tiny Tim in our lives?

Why is guidance so important?

Why is guidance so important?

There are many types of guidance in our lives. Our parents sometimes guided us in their own image. We all have had that teacher that made that extra effort to help us. Our religious leaders struggle to interpret their books to make us understand our lives in respect to the universe. Other guidance can be the signs on the roads, which make our travels safer, the tour guides that make our vacations more interesting, and the weatherman that keeps us safe from the weather.

These examples of guidance are all important in our lives, yet we may be missing the most important signs. In our religion we believe that God gives us special guidance in the form of illness or disorders on the body. That palpitation in your heart that soreness in your knees, the irritation in the eye, or that headache may not just be a physical discomfort. God may be guiding you to remove greed, arrogance, and self-love from your hearts.  When you ponder and reflect on your usage of your mind, you will give back these discomforts back to God.

Many of you when you read this may think nothing of this blog; but if discomfort should come upon your body, consider it as a possible guidance from God, and ponder your usage of the mind.  God may be guiding you to a joyous future!

Be like Water

Be like Water

In our religion, God compares the mind with water. Evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) is compared to dirt. When we have greed, arrogance and self-love in our minds, it is like muddy water. When our minds lack these evils, the water is clear and pure. Let us look at the properties of water. First water is clear. One can see through it, without much distortion. Water is also light. It has a density of 1. It has a capability of taking the shape of the container it is in.  In can adapt to the environment by changing into gas, liquid or solid. A clear mind, like water is able to see and understand any situations, and is able to detect guidance when given. It is able to adapt like water to any obstacles (causality, karma, chance, etc.), and is optimistic (light hearted).

What happens when you put dirt in water? One cannot see through muddy water. Images that are in the muddy water will become distorted. If more dirt is placed, objects in the water are not perceptible by sight. Muddy water does not easily take shape of the container it is put into. It is more difficult to change it into different physical features like clear water.  It is not potable, and infections begin to grow. The mind that is infested with evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) cannot understand any situations. It is closed minded to everyone, and like the muddy water does not let light (guidance from God) pass easily through. A person who has evil in his heart does not adapt like muddy water to any situations (karma, causality, chance, etc.), and becomes depressed (heavy hearted) when these obstacles arise.  They like muddy water are said to attract the bad qualities (infections).

In our religion, we have a prayer to ask God to sweep away the evils (greed, arrogance, and bad), so that our minds will become clear like water. God answers our prayers by guiding us. That is why we must be open to any occurrences that may occur in our lives.  God may be trying to guide us.  If you are familiar with martial arts, Bruce Lee was often quoted “ Be like Water”.  He may have been right.

Saving our trees

Saving our Trees

In our religion, God sometimes compares a tree to a person. Lets look at the similarities.  First describing a tree, it has roots, a trunk, branches and leaves. The roots bring in nourishment and water from the soil, while the branches and leaves bring in sunlight and carbon dioxide.  When the roots, branches and leaves are healthy, the trunk grows.

The roots symbolize a mind that is pure (no greed, no arrogance, and no self love). Long and extensive healthy roots symbolize an individual that is closer to God, while short and lean weak roots symbolize someone who lacks God’s truth.

The branches and leaves represent our perceived happiness. They are said to be green and numerous when we are happy. But when nature sometimes makes it presence, the branches may break or become diseased. If the roots are strong and numerous, nutrients and water will continue to be transported for growth and new buds will develop and create numerous branches and leaves; but if the roots are sparse and short, water and nutrients may not be transported sufficiently to grow more buds, and the branches and leaves may have a difficult time developing. As a result, the future of the tree will be in jeopardy. If our minds are closer to God (more roots), these obstacles (broken branches) will be just a stepping stone to a brighter happy future. But if our perceived  happiness (green leaves) was a result of greed, arrogance and self-love, the obstacle will set us back, and we will become depressed.

It is important for us to gain strong roots. Let our numerous branches and green leaves be the result of true joy, then of perceived joy. Let us pray to God to sweep evils from our hearts, so our long and numerous roots stabilize us during any obstacles, propelling us to live a joyous life.
