WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
Ever since I began reading the Ofudesaki, I have been questioning what is the truth. Is the information in the Ofudesaki the truth?  Is it from God?  If I follow the instructions, can I purify my mind and attain health and happiness?  If I spread the teachings, and perform the Youki-tsutome, can God help me to bring new members to our religion?  These are many of the questions I have.  As for the question of following the instructions in the Ofudesaki to purify my mind, I am still in the process of doing this. But again, the question always arises, am I following the truth?
When I first translated the Ofudesaki into English, I was very proud of my accomplishment and sent my books to church leaders to review. Unfortunately I had placed a picture of another person that I had thought was a picture of Oyasama on the back cover.  I remember one church minister from Hawaii questioning about the picture, and told me that he praised me for my translation, but advised me to be aware if what I was translating was the truth?  He was graciously telling me that I was wrong with my translation, even though he had not read my English translation I had sent him.  Since he probably did not read my translation, he even praised the person who was responsible for Church headquarter English translation. The Church headquarter translation is not word for word, and verse for verse translation. It is filled with the person’s interpretation of what is written in Japanese hiragana.
I also had previously posted on a facebook group about Tenrikyo that is moderated by his son. These posts were concerning the information I have found in the Ofudesaki.  Like his father, he was adamant on his beliefs of what is the truth, and deleted my posts. The son’s views of the truth is different from mine, as he admitted on his facebook post that he was disappointed at the recent presidential outcome. The only reason I mention this is because recently information has been coming out that the political party his son has been for, has been found to be fraudulent, and  deceitful to the public The democratic party was telling us that the opposing party was corrupt, and they needed to censor the opposing party’s  lies, and place people in prison for opposing their views.  Now we are finding out billions of dollars of our taxes were going to foreign countries without our knowledge. Today we are finding out that social security was paying for over 18 million people who were born before 1920.  This is only the beginning of our quest to find out the fraud taking place in our country that we thought was based on trust and honesty. But again these same people were telling us that they were telling us the truth.
Returning to the main topic. What is the truth? In the Tenrikyo religon most people will admit that the scripture contains God’s truth. But why are church leaders not following the instructions in this sacred scripture? If you who are reading this post and believe that they are, please provide the information including the verses.
Yesterday, one member of the group left because I had sent him a pdf copy of my English translation of the Ofudesaki. He questioned my translation without reading it, and stated that how could all the leaders in the church be wrong about the teachings in the Ofudesaki.  Again my translation is word for word from Japanese to English of God’s truths. It is up to the reader to decide if the original translation of the Ofudesaki by Church Headquarters is correct, or if my translation is more accurate. Then one would have more information to decide if the Ofudesaki is God’s truth. Church leaders must understand God’s truth in the Ofudesaki. If they are mistaken, they will be leading many on the wrong path.
AM I COMPLAINING OF THE CURRENT TENRIKYO LEADERSHIP?
Yes I am, but I am giving a solution unlike others who complain.
WE NEED TO READ AND UNDERSTAND GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS IN THE OFUDESAKI!
真実とは何か？
おふでさきを読み始めてからというもの、何が真実なのだろうという疑問を持ち続けてきました。おふでさきの情報は真実なのか？ 神様からの教えなのか？ おふでさきの教えを守れば、kokoro (mind) を清め、健康と幸福を得ることができるのか？ この教えを広め、陽気づとめを行なえば、神様は私たちの宗教に新しい仲間を加えてくださるのでしょうか？ これらは私が抱く多くの疑問である。 おふでさきの教えに従って kokoro (mind) を清めることについては、私はまだその途中です。しかしまた、私は真理に従っているのだろうかという疑問が常に生じます。
初めておふでさきを英訳したとき、私は自分の 成果をとても誇りに思い、教会の指導者たちに本を送っ て講評してもらいました。残念なことに、私は教祖の写真と思われる別の人物の写真を裏表紙に載せてしまったのです。 ハワイのある教 会の牧師が、その写真について質問し、私の翻訳を褒め てくれたが、私が翻訳したものが真実かどうか注意 するよう助言してくれたことを覚えている。 彼は、私が送った英訳を読んでいないにもかかわらず、私の翻訳が間違っていることを快く教えてくれたのだ。 おそらく私の訳を読んでいないのだろうから、彼は教会本部の英訳を担当した人物を褒め称えることさえした。教会本部の翻訳は一字一句、一節一節の翻訳ではない。日本語のひらがなで書かれていることをその人が解釈しているのだ。
私も以前、フェイスブックのグループにおふでさきについて投稿したことがある。このグループの司会は牧師の息子が務めている。これらの投稿は、私がおふでさきで見つけた情報に関するものでした。 父親と同じように、彼は何が真実であるかという信念に固執し、私の投稿を削除しました。
牧師の息子の真理観は私とは異なり、フェイスブックへの投稿では、最近の大統領選の結果に失望していることを認めている。民主党は、対立する政党は腐敗しており、対立する政党の嘘を検閲し、自分たちの意見に反対する人々を刑務所に入れる必要があると言っていた。 今、私たちは何十億ドルもの税金が、私たちの知らないうちに外国に流れていたことを知った。今日私たちは、社会保障制度が1920年以前に生まれた1800万人以上の人々のために支払われていたことを知っている。 これは、私たちが信頼と誠実さの上に成り立っていると教えてきたこの国で行われている不正を突き止めるための、私たちの探求の始まりに過ぎない。しかしまたもや、同じような人々が、自分たちは真実を語っているのだと私たちに語っているのだ。
本題に戻る。真理とは何か。天理教では、ほとんどの人が聖典に神の真理が含まれていることを認める。しかし、なぜ教会の指導者たちはこの聖典の指示に従わないのでしょうか。
昨日、私が英訳したおふでさきのpdfを送っ たので、グループの一人が帰っていきました。彼は私の翻訳を読まずに疑問を呈し、教会の指導者全員がおふでさきの教えについて間違っているわけがないと述べた。 繰り返しますが、私の翻訳は神の真理を日本語から英語に一字一句忠実に訳しています。何が神の真理かを決めるのは読者次第だ。
世界が平和と繁栄を手に入れるためには、教会指導者たちはおふでさきにおける神の真理を理解しなければなりません。
私は現在の天理教の指導者に不満を抱いているのでしょうか？
そうだ。しかし私は、不満を言う他の人たちとは違って、解決策を提示しているのだ。

Why the truth is not spreading to the world

天理教は神の真理を世界に広めることに成功しているのだろうか？
天理教の信者が300万人いるとしよう。地球上の人口が70億人だとすると、天理教信者は世界人口の約0.00004285％である。これはほぼ0％である。
なぜ宗教は成長しないのか？
1. 私たちは魂（ムネ）を理解していない。神はおふでさきの最初の節でこのように語っている。魂こそ、私たちが理解し、世に広めなければならないものなのです。
2. 私たちは、私たちの特別な祈りである「Youki tsutome」を理解していません。私たちの教会の指導者たちは、この祈りによって私たち自身の否定的な考えを一掃するよう神に求めているのだと話している。しかし、この祈りによって、私たちは自分の魂がすることを納得させることによって、他人の否定的な考えを一掃するよう神に求めているのだ。この祈りは、自分の魂が何をするのかを人々に納得させる。魂を理解すれば、自分で自分の心を清めることができる。kokorko (mind) が清らかであれば、幸福と健康だけが自分の魂からやってくる。
私たちの教えが世界に広がらなければ、どのような結果になるのでしょう。
世界には苦しみがある。
私たちは何をしなければならないのか？
1. 自分の kokoro (mind)を清めるために、魂を理解しなければならない。
2. その教えを他の人々に広めなければならない。天理教の教友は皆、神の教えを世 界に広めるために出かけて行かなければな らない。
3. 私たちは、神様の真理を伝えたと人々に納得してもらえるよう、神様にお願いする「陽気づとめ」を行わなければなりません。
神は、私たちがこの3つのステップを達成すれば、教えを世界に広めるという神の祝福に失敗はないと教えています。したがって、教えは世界中に広まり、すべての人に平和と繁栄がもたらされるのです。
 
 

HAVE THE TENRIKYO CHURCH BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN SPREADING GOD’S TRUTH TO THE WORLD?

 
Lets say that there are 3 million Tenrikyo followers. If there are 7 billion people on earth,Tenrikyo followers total about  0.00004285% of the world population. This is almost 0%.
 

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WHY ARE RELIGION IS NOT GROWING?

 
  1. We do not understand the soul (mune). God tells us this in the first verse of the Ofudesaki. The soul is what we must understand and spread to the world.
  2. We do not understand our special prayer, the Youki-tsutome. Presently we are asking God to sweep our own negative thoughts away.  But by this prayer, we are asking God to sweep the negative thoughts of the people we have spread the teachings of the soul. This prayer convinces people of what their own soul do. When they understand the soul, they can purify their minds by themselves. When the mind is pure only happiness and health will come from their own souls.
 

WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR TEACHINGS NOT SPREADING TO THE WORLD.

 
There is suffering in the world.
 
 

WHAT MUST WE DO?

1. We must understand the soul to purify our own minds.
2. We must spread the teachings to others, All of the 2-3 milion people, lets all go out to spread God’s truth of the soul and pure mind.
3. We must perform the Youki-tsutome asking God to convince these people of the soul, so they can purify their own minds.
 
God tells us that if we accomplish these three steps, there will be no failure in God’s blessing of convincing people of the soul to purify their own minds. Therefore, the teachings will spread throughout the world, bringing upon peace and prosperity for all.

WHY DID GOD DESCEND FROM HEAVEN?
God descended from heaven not to start a new religion, but descended from heaven to teach us how to life a happy life. God teaches us how to achieve a happy life, and also teaches us how to spread the teachings to others.
DO WE NEED A RELIGION TO SPREAD GOD’S TRUTH?
The answer is a definite yes. There must be an organization that will help implement the instructions in the Ofudesaki. This is what the Tenrikyo Church is for. Our mission is to spread the teachings to the world. We must have facilities that will serve to implement God’s instructions. Also God has granted us special prayers to expedite the salvation of others that requires physical buildings or churches.
*note the Yorozuyo and 12 dances are not mentioned in the Ofudesaki. Yet the church places much emphasis in memorizing and performing this Service that summarizes the Ofudesaki. Is this Service necessary?
DO WE NEED TO ASK FOR DONATIONS?
Any organization, including churches will need money to sustain itself. Because the churches do not produce income, they will need donations from their congregations to spread God’s teaching to others. Money should only be spent for the purpose of spreading God’s teachings, and not on worldly matters, like physical aid or disaster relief.
DO WE NEED LARGE CHURCHES?
When the honseki asked Oyasama how large to build the first place of worship, Oyasama told him to build a small building. Unlike other churches where facilities are built for large amount of people to hear God’s teachings for their salvation, Oyasama placed more emphasis on her followers going to houses to spread God’s teachings then having large facilities to entertain followers. Physical possessions are not important, as it is the pure mind God want us to attain.
SUMMARY
It is our own soul that God wants the world to understand. By understanding the soul, we can understand why suffering or joy appears in our lives. This is what we must spread to the world. Again God has given us the instructions how to spread God’s truth to the world.
 
神はなぜ天から降りたのか？
神が天から降りてきたのは、新しい宗教を始めるためではなく、幸せな人生を送る方法を教えるためである。神は私たちに幸せな人生を実現する方法を教え、その教えを他の人々に広める方法も教えている。
 
神の真理を広めるために宗教は必要か？
答えは間違いなくイエスである。おふでさきの教えを実行するための組織が必要です。これが天理教教会です。私たちの使命は、教えを世界に広めることです。私たちは、神の教えを実行するために役立つ施設を持たなければなりません。
*おふでさきには、よろづよと12の踊りは記されていない。しかし、教会ではおふでさきをまとめたこのおつとめを暗記し、実行することに重きを置いています。このおつとめは必要なのだろうか。
 
寄付を求める必要があるのか？
教会を含め、どのような組織であれ、維持するためにはお金が必要である。教会は収入を生まないので、神の教えを他の人々に広めるためには、信徒からの寄付が必要になる。お金は神の教えを広める目的のためだけに使うべきであり、肉体的な援助や災害救助のような世俗的なことには使うべきではない。
 
概要
神が世に理解してほしいと願っているのは、私たち自身の魂である。魂を理解することで、なぜ人生に苦しみや喜びが現れるのかを理解することができる。これこそが、私たちが世に広めなければならないことなのだ。神は再び、神の真理を世に広める方法を示してくださった。
 
大きな教会が必要か？
教祖は、本席が教祖に最初の礼拝所をどの程度の大きさで建てるかを尋ねられた時、小さな建物を建てるようにおっしゃいました。教祖は、大勢の人が神の教えを聞いて救われるような施設を建てる他の教会とは違い、信者たちをもてなすための大きな施設よりも、信者たちが家々を訪ねて神の教えを広めることに重きを置かれたのです。物理的な所有物は重要ではなく、神が私たちに到達させたいのは純粋な kokoro (mind) なのです。

WHAT TRUTH IF TOLD TO THE WORLD WILL SAVE THE WORLD?

It is the truth of the soul. God tells us in the first verse of the Ofudesaki that we do not understand our own soul.

WHY WOULD THE EXPLANATION OF THE SOUL SAVE THE WORLD?

By understanding the soul, we can understand why suffering or joy occurs in the world, and in our lives.

WHAT SHOULD OUR RELIGION DO?

Tenrikyo should spend their efforts to spread the truth of the soul to the world.

WHAT IS THE END RESULT?

Health and happiness to everyone, and peace throughout the world.

 

私たちの宗教の目的は何ですか？

おふでさきの真理を広めることです。

 

世界を救う真実とは何か？

それは魂の真理である。神は『おふでさき』の最初の節で、私たちは自分の魂を理解していないと教えている。

 

なぜ魂の説明が世界を救うのか？

魂を理解することで、なぜ世界や私たちの人生に苦しみや喜びが生じるのかを理解することができる。

 

私たちの宗教は何をすべきでしょうか？

天理教は、魂の真理を世界に広めるために努力を費やすべきである。

 

その結末は？

WHAT TO SPREAD

WHAT IS THE MESSAGE WE MUST SPREAD TO THE WORLD?

We must tell people about our own soul. Most people believe in the soul that exist in our bodies. Because of the soul, we live for eternity. Some believe the soul ascends to heaven, while others believe that the soul returns back to earth to start a new life (reincarnation). But what does the soul do while it is in our bodies? It is the soul that monitors our behavior while the soul is in our bodies. It collects our demerits from our evil actions, stores it, and eventually manifest the fate as suffering back to us when the right opportunity arises. The right opportunity  may appear in the distant future, many time in our next lives. Because of the soul, we reap what we have sowed. It is not God that punishes or rewards us for our actions.

When our physical bodies die, the soul takes our fates and their associated thourhts to the next life. Therefore, our memories are left behind, but the negative fates and their associated thoughts go to the next life.  Death of our physical bodies do not give us a fresh start in the next life.

Do we just suffer for the negative actions in our past life?  Karma or innen can be lessened or erased. Remember each negative fate is associated with the negative thought or thoughts that were acted upon. Therefore, if we ponder the negative thought when suffering occurs and not act upon them, we can lessen or eliminate the suffering. God tells us that when the mind is pure, only health and happines will come from our own souls.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE SPREAD GOD’S TEACHINGS

For some people, they accept these teachings and be able to begin to purify their minds by understanding what comes from their own souls. But God tells us that many people will not be convinces of God’s teachings. God tells us God will help us convince these people of the teachings.

GOD TELLS US TO PERFORM THE YOUKI-TSUTOME

What happens when we perform the Youki-tsutome-tsutome? We will discuss this in the next post.

 

私たちが世界に広めなければならないメッセージとは何か？

私たち自身の魂について伝えなければならない。ほとんどの人は、私たちの肉体に存在する魂を信じている。魂があるからこそ、私たちは永遠に生きることができる。魂は天に昇ると信じる人もいれば、魂は地上に戻って新しい人生を始める（輪廻転生）と信じる人もいる。しかし、私たちの肉体にいる間、魂は何をしているのだろうか？魂が肉体にある間、私たちの行動を監視するのは魂である。私たちの悪行によるデメリットを集め、蓄積し、やがて適切な機会が訪れたときに、その運命を苦しみとして私たちに返してくれるのだ。その好機は遠い未来、来世に訪れるかもしれない。魂のせいで、私たちは蒔いた種を刈り取る。私たちの行為に対して罰を与えたり、報いを与えたりするのは神ではない。

私たちの肉体が死ぬと、魂は私たちの宿命とそれに関連する思考を次の人生に持っていく。したがって、私たちの記憶は残されるが、否定的な運命とそれに関連する思考は来世に行く。 死によって来世で再出発できるわけではない。

私たちは過去世での否定的な行為のために苦しむだけなのでしょうか？ カルマや宿命は、軽減したり消したりすることができる。否定的な運命は、それぞれ行動した否定的な思考や考えと関連していることを覚えておいてほしい。ですから、苦しみが起こったときに、そのネガティブな思考について考え、それを行動に移さなければ、苦しみを軽減したり、消したりすることができるのです。kokoro (mind) が清らかであれば、自分の魂から健康と幸せだけがやってくると神は教えている。

 

神の教えを広めた後に起こること

一部の人々は、これらの教えを受け入れ、自分自身の魂から来るものを理解することによって、心を浄化し始めることができる。しかし神は、多くの人々が神の教えに納得しないだろうと教えている。神は、このような人々に神の教えを納得してもらうために、私たちを助けてくださると教えておられる。

 

神様は「遊木堤をやれ」とおっしゃる

Youki-tsutome」をするとどうなるのか。これについては次回の記事で説明しよう。

God’s truths

WHAT ARE THE THOUGHTS THAT GOD WANTS US TO REMOVE FROM OUR MINDS?
We must remove the five negative thoughts mentioned in the Ofudesaki (Verse 3-96). These are the negative thoughts of disappointment (oshii), covetousness (hoshii), self-love (kawaii), greed (yoku), and arrogance (kouman).
 
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ONE ATTAINS THE PURE MIND?
God tells us that when one attains the pure mind, only health and happiness will come from one’s own  own soul. God tells us that our minds will be spirited (verse 3-3). Also there will be no fear (verse 3-77). In verse 3-99, God tells us if we attain the pure mind, not to fall ill, to die, and not to weaken while alive. God also will accept our prayers to save others ( verses 4-51-52). Any protection will be provided when one attains the pure mind (verse 6-109).
 
HOW DO WE ATTAIN THE PURE MIND?
God tells us to understand what comes from one’s own soul. What comes from our own souls are the fates we have created by acting on our negative thoughts. When suffering occurs, we should ponder our own minds for negative thoughts instead of blaming others or God. When we ponder our negative thoughts and not act upon them, we can gradually purify our minds.  God calls this the path of the soul to purify the mind.
 
WHAT DO WE DO WHEN WE ATTAIN THE PURE MIND?
God tells us to spread God’s teachings to others to save them. These instructions to spread the teachings  are in the Ofudesaki and will be discussed in the next post.

神が私たちの kokoro (mind) から取り除くことを望んでいる思いとは何でしょうか？
おふでさき（3-96節）に記されている5つの否定的な思いを取り除かなければなりません。それは、失望 (oshii)、貪欲 (hoshii)、自己愛 (kawaii) 、貪欲 (yoku)、傲慢 (kouman)の五つの否定的な思いである。
 
純粋な心に到達するとどうなるのか？
神は、純粋な kokoro (mind) に到達したとき、健康と幸福だけが自分自身の魂からやってくると教えている。神は、私たちの kokoro (mind) が勇ましくなると教えている（Verse 3-3）。また、恐れもなくなる（verse 3-77）。3-99節で、神は、私たちが純粋な kokoro (mind) を得れば、病気にならず、死なず、生きている間は弱ることもないと教えている。神はまた、他者を救うための祈りを受け入れてくださる（verse 4-51-52）。純粋な kokoro (mind)を得れば、どんな保護も与えられる（ verse 6-10）。
 
どうすれば純粋な心を得ることができるのか？
神は、自分自身の魂から来るものを理解するようにと教えている。自分自身の魂から来るものとは、否定的な考えに基づいて行動することによって作り出した運命である。苦しみが起きたとき、私たちは他人や神を責めるのではなく、否定的な考えを持つ自分自身の mind(kokoro) を考えるべきだ。自分の否定的な考えに思いを巡らせ、それを行動に移さないことで、私たちの kokoro (mind) は徐々に浄化されていく。 神はこれを、kokoro (mind) を浄化する魂の道と呼んでいる。
 
純粋な kokoro (mind) を得たとき、私たちは何をすればいいのだろうか？
神は私たちに、他の人々を救うために神の教えを広めるように指示している。この教えを広めるための指示はおふでさきにあり、次の記事で説明します。
