We Must Understand the Soul (mune)
Church leaders believe that the Youki-tsutome is a prayer asking God to sweep our own minds. But is this correct? In the Ofudesaki, it appears that the Youki-tsutome is a prayer to save others. It initiates God’s guidance of illness to help people understand the function of their own soul. When people understand their own soul, they can begin to purify their minds. Verse 3-59, and 3-60 tells us God places illness as guidance to the people we have spread the teachings to. These guidances are initiated by our performance of a simple prayer asking God to help us sweep the minds of others. This convincing of the soul does not stop with the presence of the illness. For those people that understand God’s guidance, they are encouraged to come to our places of worship to heal the guidance given by God. God has granted us a special prayer, the Osazuke to heal God’s guidance. This opportunity also gives us further time to instruct the person on the soul, and how to purify the mind by themselves. This is how we spread our teachings to the world.
This wrong application of these special prayers is why our teachings of the soul to purify the mind are not spreading to the world. We in the church must understand what information God wants us to spread to the world, and we must understand our two special prayers. Without our understanding of the Ofudesaki, the world will continue to suffer.

Two Special Prayers
Distorted Mirror like
There are people in the world that will not listen to our teachings because their minds contain mistaken concepts and ideas that make it difficult to accept new information. There is a verse in the Ofudesaki that tells us.
What kind of tree also, many gathered, to exist but,
like distorted mirror are, these people will not be realized. 3-50
God is telling us because their minds do not let them understand new concepts, they will not become youboku or will not be able to purify their minds presently. We find many people who are like this in the world. But what can we do as Tenrikyo missionaries to help to save them?
God tells us to spread the truth of the soul to others. This is most important, as God in the first verse of the Ofudesaki tells us that we do not understand the soul. It is the soul God wants us to understand. When one understands the soul, one will understand why suffering and joy appear in the world. One will understand how to attain joy and health in our lives. This is what we must spread to everyone. Like any new information, would people especially those who God describes as distorted mirrors accept what the soul does in our physical bodies? Probably not. This is why God has granted us two special prayers to help us spread the teachings to others to help them understand their own soul. These two prayers are the Youki-tsutome and Osazuke.
What do these two prayers do?
First this prayer, the Youki-tsutome, brings upon God’s guidance of illness to the people we have instructed on the soul. You may think that this is cruel of God to place illness? But what God does is to place illness depending on the amount and kind of negative thoughts one has in the mind. It is these negative thoughts that they will likely act upon, resulting in negative energy their own soul collects, stores, and eventually manifest as suffering (karma). God by these illness is showing these people their future if they do not remove their negative thoughts. God calls these illness blessings!
Some people will understand the illness that appears to them, and come to our places of worship to heal their illness given by God. God has granted us the Osazuke to heal them. They are healed and given further instructions to purify their minds by themselves by understanding the soul. This is how these two prayers help us spread the teachings.
But unfortunately some will not understand God’s guidance or refuse to. They will continue to act upon their negative thoughts resulting in suffering from their own souls. These are the people we must continue to teach, even though they may refuse God’s teachings initially.
In summary, it is the soul we as missionaries must spread to the world. The performace of the Youki-tsutome and the Osazuke will help us convince others of the soul. Again when the mind is pure of negative thoughts, one is saved. Only joy and health will appear from the soul.
ikana ki mo ooku yosete wa aru kredo
igami kagami wa kore wa kanawan 3-50

WE HAVE ALL SINNED
People do not want to hear that they suffer because they have sinned. God tells us that our sufferings that appear are from our past actions on our negative thoughts. Many people will say that they have done nothing evil, but they suffer from illness, and negative obstacles that appear in their lives. But they do not understand the soul, and what it does in our lives.
How do we tell people that they have sinned without making them angry, causing them to not listen to God’s teachings? This is what Tenrikyo, our religion faces, and has not solved. We do not know what information to spread to the world, and we do not understand the two prayers that God has granted us to spread the teachings. First let us discuss what information God wants us first to spread. This is all from the Ofudesaki, the most sacred scripture in the world.
God in the first verse of our sacred scripture, tells us we do not understand the soul. I believe everyone somewhat believes in the soul that exist in our physical bodies; and this will be a good subject to discuss to introduce our teachings. Christians believe that the soul either ascends to heaven, or descends to hell when the physical body perishes. But they do not know how our soul functions in our physical bodies while we are alive on earth. Let me explain.
While the soul exist within our bodies, the soul monitors our behavior. It collects our fates that are created from acting on our thoughts, stores them, and eventually manifest them back to us as joy or suffering when the right opportunity arises. The right opportunity may not manifest in this lifetime. When our physical body ceases to exist, the soul leaves the body carrying the nonmanifested fates and their associated thoughts to the next life. Therefore death erases our memories, but does not give us a fresh start as it carries our fates and their associated thoughts to the next life. It is the information within the soul that determines how, where, and when it enters to start a new life. But again in the next life, the same thoughts from the previous lifetime remain with their nonmanifested associated fates. This is why suffering and joy appear unexpectedly in our lives, and why we continue to act on either our existing positve or negative thoughts. How do we get out of the negative cycle of suffering if our soul contains negative fates?
Again God tells us we must understand the soul. When we understand the soul, we can understand why suffering and joy appear in the world. We reap what we have sowed because of our own soul. How do we stop the suffering that comes from our souls? God tells us to remove the negative thoughts that are associated with the negative fate that appears. How do we do this?
When suffering appear from our soul, God tells us not to blame others or God, but to ponder one’s own mind for negative thoughts, and not act upon them. This is not easy to do as we want to blame others, instead of blaming ourselves for sufferings or inconveniences. But if we continue to not act on our negative thoughts, we can purify our own minds. When the mind is pure, only joy and health will appear from one’s own soul. This is salvation.
If we understand the soul ourselves, God has given us two special prayers to help spread the truth of the soul to others to save them. This has been explained in previous posts but will further be explained in future posts.

There is no one who is evil
In the Ofudesaki, God tells us there is no one who is essentially evil.
In all generations, world’s places, to look out over,
of evil person is, furthermore nonexistent. 1-52
In everyone, evil said , nonexistent but,
of little dust is , attached saying resulting in.
At first I though these verses did not make sense to me, as we see people committing atrocities in the world. But in the Ofudesaki, God tells us that it is the negative thoughts that attach to people’s minds that makes them evil when they act upon them. If they can remove these negative thoughts, they will only be able to act on their positive thoughts. Then only health and happiness will appear from their souls. This is why God wants us to spread the truth of the soul to others. These people who commit these atrocities do not know what sufferings will occur to them if they do not remove their negative thoughts.
Little by little, debts pile up. That upon is,
Cows and horses to see, because the path to exist 8-54
Some religions say that God tells people that the wicked or evil people must be eliminated, including their families. These instruction do not originate from God, but from human minds. In the Ofudesaki, God tells us we are all brothers and sisters created from the same parents. There is no one who is essentially evil. Only negative thoughts have attached to their minds. It is up to us (Tenrikyo people) , to help them purify their minds so they do not suffer in the future.
In summary, we cannot eliminate people that have acted on their negative thoughts. If we eliminate them, their physical bodies that are loaned to them by God will perish, but their soul carries them to their next destination (reincarnation), and will carry their fates and associated thoughts to their next life, They will continue to act on their evil thoughts and continue to suffer. This is why we must spread the truth of the soul to the world. God has granted us two special prayers to do this. But unfortunately, currently we do not understand these two prayers, and not using them as intended by God. I will not discuss the two prayers here, as I have discussed them in previous posts. Again in the Ofudesaki, God tells us how to save ourselves, and also save these so called “evil people”.

KARMA AND REINCARNATION
If Karma and reincarnation existed what would happen to the people who engage in war because of hate, greed, self-love, and arrogance. The people involved in the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the people involved in the conflicts between Israel and Iran, where will these people go after their physical bodies die?
Would it be ironic that they will begin a new life reincarnated in the opposing side? Why would this happen? It is because their souls will take their fates which were created by acting on their negative thoughts, and their associated negative thoughts to their next life. Although our memories are lost, we are not given a fresh start when we are reincarnated. We take our baggage with us, good or bad. Since these people all have the same negative thoughts that they died with, the cycle of hate and suffering continues. If they are to have a good life, in the next life, they must remove their negative thoughts. Yes the cycle of suffering must end by understanding the soul.
This is what our religion is about. It is to spread the truth of the soul, so peace and prosperity will occur in the world. Let’s understand the instructions in the Ofudesaki to save the world. God tells us God will help us. This is why the religion of Tenrikyo exists.

Our bodies are borrowed from God
Our religion is quite different from other religions. God tells us that our bodies are borrowed from God. It is our soul that temporily inhabits God’s bodies. God tells us to take care of our precious bodies that have been loaned to us from God. This includes not only our own bodies, but bodies of others. Yet today because people do not know this, there is abuse of our own bodies, and bodies of others. For example self mutilation, suicides, rapes, and murder of God’s borrowed bodies occur daily. We are essentially hurting God by our negative actions.
What happens when we do not take care of our bodies, or hurt or kill others. God in the Ofudesaki tells us that it is our own soul that monitors our behavior. We reap what we have sowed. God tells us that their souls may inhabit bodies of oxens and horses in their next lives. This may be rare, but suffering will definitely appear if we act on our negative thoughts. This is the information we must spread to the world. God wants to save everyone, as we are all related as told in the story of creation. When the mind is pure, one is saved. Only health and joy will appear from our own souls. But if our mind is not pure, and we act on our negative thoughts, suffering will appear in our future.
In summary, it is our own soul we must understand. The world suffers because we do not understand our own soul.
Path to Salvation
This path to salvation results in a pure mind..If one ponders what fates comes from one’s own soul, one can eventually purify one’s mind. How is this done? When suffering from the soul occurs, ponder one’s own mind for negative thoughts that is associated with the suffering instead of blaming others. Then not act upon these negative thoughts. This is how one purifies the mind. When the mind is pure, only health and joy will come from one’s own soul. This is why God wants us to understand our own soul. The soul is what we must teach to the world.
