With the approaching election, we have two candidates that the general population does not like; but we also have supporters of these candidates that will ignore or not listen to any apparent wrong doings of their candidates. In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki), is the following:
Though I have gathered many and various followers,
those that are like a distorted mirror will not do. 3-50
A distorted mirror does not reflect the true image of the subject. It is like the mind that cannot reason when information is placed before oneself. It is a mind tainted by previous false information. It is also a selfish and arrogant mind that ignores true information to benefit oneself, political party, or family. This type of mind will lead to a life entangled in corruption, lies, and sufferings. How does one escape this cycle of suffering?
How do we become like a mirror that reflects the true image? In the Book of Prophecy, God tells us to remove greed, arrogance and self-love from your minds. When our minds become pure, we are able to see the truth. This is important because the “truth will set you free”.
