In the Book of Prophecy (Fudesaki), God tells us that we do not understand. This sacred book gives us the ingredients to live a joyous life. Yet in the last chapter, God continues to tell us that we do not understand. Why is it so difficult to understand God’s teachings? In the Book of Prophecy, God tells us we must first remove greed, arrogance, self-love, miserliness, and covetousness from our minds. When the mind is purified of these evils, we are able to understand what events or information is presented to us.
In our religion, and in many other religions, the individual who tries to understand their sacred books have preconceived ideas that may prevent them from understanding the contents. We have the dust of arrogance in our minds. We often think we are right, and others are wrong. God tells us to remove these thoughts before reading the Book of Prophecy. As we will find out, it takes a herculean effort to eliminate these evils from our minds. It takes time and commitment to eliminate these evils. God tells us that when our minds are purified of these evils, we will be more receptive to God’s teachings; and our minds will become spirited and full of hope. The purpose of life may be hidden in our sacred books; but the key to the discovery may be our purified minds.
