In our daily prayer of the Youki-tsutome, Church leaders tell us that this is a service asking God to sweep away our dusts or negative thoughts. But in the Ofudesaki, God tells us this prayer is to save other people. We followers should already know how to sweep our own minds by understanding what fates come from our own soul and by not acting upon our negative thoughts.
The first and third parts of this prayer are easy to understand, as we are asking God to help others sweep away their negative thoughts. God does this by placing illness as guidance to help people understand the negative thoughts in their minds. It is these negative thoughts that they will act upon, resulting in negative fates that their own soul collects, stores, and eventually manifests as suffering. God is showing them their future if they do not remove their negative thoughts.
But what is the second part of this Service about? Why is God talking about the Origin of creation, represented by heaven and earth?
Two verses from the Ofudesaki may give us the answer.
(Imamade ni)(nai tasuke oba)(suru kara wa)
(moto o shirasan)(koto ni oite wa). 9-29
Until now, nonexistent salvation, God, because to do.
The Origin must be informed, for the occurrence (of guidance) placing.
(Kono you no)(ningen moto o)(sekaijuu)
(shirashite oita)(koto de aru nara). 12-129
Of this world, human Origin, throughout the world,
Informing established, occurrence to exist, if so.
God is telling the early followers that the story of human creation must be told before God places illness as guidance to others. Why must we tell the story of creation? It is because God created the perfect body from the creatures that existed in the muddy ocean of the earth. From heaven, the pure mind of God was placed into the first couple that started human beings.
This combination should only bring health and happiness, as intended at the beginning of creation by God. This is what the second part of this Service talks about, and this is what God wants us to tell people when we spread God’s truth.
It is the attainment of the pure mind that will bring us health and happiness.
If we understand this, it is truly a service to save the world. But we are not using it as intended. This is why our teachings are not spreading to the world.
