Tenrikyo /Tenrikyo /The Soul

For the past decade, I have been trying to figure out the purpose of my existence, my religion, my relation with others, and how we can all live together harmoniously.  My website heaventruth.com is not only my effort to improve the lives of others, but it is also to find peace with myself. If I can make sense of the world that I cannot sometimes understand, then I may be able to help others. Truly, I have made many mistakes in my lifetime. I am hoping for the magic formula that will explain the purpose of life, and to find joy. I believe I have found this in the sacred book called the Tip of the Writing Brush (Ofudesaki). I summarize the main topics on my home page on my website, and will paste it here.

THE TRUTHS OF HEAVEN

God wants us to understand the SOUL.

Looking all over the world and through all ages, I find no one who understands the soul (heart).  Tip of the Writing Brush 1-1

Why does God want us to understand the soul? Our soul determines what happens to us today and in the future. This is why God wants us to understand the affects of the soul. Illnesses, pains and sufferings may be God’s guidance to help one understand the heart/soul.

One can accept these inconveniences as God’s will or coincidence; or one can ponder over these sufferings and begin to understand the soul and how it affects us. When we understand the soul, we can control our future.

The soul is a positive energy source that collects our evil thoughts, and it gradually releases them back to us as sufferings. We reap what we sow.

By these inconveniences, the soul helps us eliminate evil thoughts from our minds; it reminds us by these sufferings, the evils in our minds. These evil thoughts are greed, arrogance, miserliness, covetousness and self-love. All other evil thoughts are derived from these thoughts or dusts.

How does the soul eliminate evil from our minds? If we do not act on our existing evil thoughts when faced with what the soul metes out, these evil thoughts from our minds  gradually subside. The mind becomes pure, and the evil surrounding the soul is eliminated by use and attrition. This results in a pure soul void of negative energy, which brings upon a joyous life for the individual. For many people, the purification of the mind will take time dependent on the amount of negative energy surrounding the soul. We will be challenged by all the negative energies surrounding the soul. These sufferings that they manifest will test our resolve of not taking action on our evil thoughts that exist in our minds.

But suppose we do not understand what the soul does? If we act on our evil thoughts when the soul distributes its negative energy, the mind continues to produce more negative thoughts. This increases the negative energy surrounding the pure soul, causing the soul to bring upon more suffering upon ourselves.

OUR BELIEFS:

We believe in a God that loves all his children. We believe in the law of causality. Good thoughts and actions result in joy.  Evil thoughts and actions result in suffering and inconveniences in the future. It is this elusive soul that metes out our sufferings and inconveniences.  The soul collects our negative energy from our evil thoughts. These negative energies eventually manifest as sufferings back to the individual. Cause and effect have no time limitations. The effects of our actions (negative energy) may not be released by the soul for an extended period.

God sees a dangerous path in our future. He sees our souls/hearts with negative energy surrounding it. Because God wants us to understand the soul and how it affects us, God will begin to place illness (guidance) directed to our bodies in relationship to how much evil thoughts are surrounding our souls and in our minds.  God gives us a preview of our future of what sufferings we may endure if we continue to harbor evil thoughts. This guidance is what makes this religion so unique compared to other religions that also believe in causality. This guidance is initiated with a special prayer that God has granted us.

With the acceptance of our special prayer (Joyous Service), God will release some of the negative energy surrounding the soul, and manifest it into illness or suffering to help one understand the soul. By this guidance, God gives you an immediate glimpse of what infliction the soul may bring upon in the future. By pondering the illness and responding positively (acknowledging the evil in the mind, and not acting on them), the illness subsides. But more importantly the evil thoughts originating in your mind decreases; the soul has less negative energy, and the future will look more promising. One can  prevent the sufferings in the future by understanding the soul!

OUR PATH:

To continue to purify our minds of sin/evil to become spirited.

To spread and share God’s truth; telling people that illness and suffering may be God’s guidance to help one understand the soul/heart. This conveyance of God’s truth is called hinokishin .

To pray daily with our Special prayer (Joyous Service), asking God to help people understand the soul/heart and to sweep evil from their minds.

To heal the people whose minds have been revealed when God guides them to us; and teach them about the soul (heart), causality and true sincerity. True sincerity is a mind that ponders over suffering and obstacles that the soul delivers, and accepts these inconveniences in a joyous manner. This will make our minds pure and spirited; and by the principle of causality will bring forth joy in the future due to the pure soul (heart)

GOD’S PROMISE:

All mankind will live a joyous life with everyone helping each other.

Tenrikyo /The Function of the Soul (heart)

God wants us to understand the soul (heart), as it determines what happens to us today and in the future. This is why

Illness, pain and sufferings may be God’s guidance to help one understand the heart/soul.

One can accept these illness as God’s will; or one can ponder over these sufferings and begin to understand the soul and how it affects us.

The soul collects our evil thoughts, and gradually releases them back to us as sufferings. We reap what we sow.  The soul helps us remove evil thoughts from our minds; it  reminds us by these inconveniences  the evils in our minds. If we do not act on our existing evil thoughts when faced with what the soul metes out, these evil thoughts from our minds  gradually subside. The mind becomes pure, and the evil surrounding the soul is eliminated. This results in a joyous life for the individual.

But often, we do not understand  the sufferings that the soul delivers. Instead of calming our minds, we capitulate to our evil thoughts, and take negative action, resulting in the accumulation of more negative thoughts. This will result in the soul accumulating more negative thoughts or energy from the mind, and further continuing our sufferings. We see joy and suffering, and we see good and evil in the world; but we can’t see the relationship  because we do not understand the soul.

Tenrikyo /In the Beginning………

In the beginning, there was God. God said let there by joy; so he created mankind. From the sea, he collected sea creatures and created the first couple. To the first couple he added the eternal pure heart/soul of God. From this first couple, mankind was created to live the joyous life.

Each of us has the pure heart of God. This pure heart guarantees a joyous life for everyone. But since the origin of mankind, we have created evil thoughts in our minds. These thoughts originate from our selfish acts. These evil thoughts are greed, arrogance, miserliness, covetousness and self-love. These thoughts in our minds are the impetus for our evil actions, and the continual production of evil thoughts that cause suffering to others.

God wants us to understand what the pure heart/soul does.

The pure heart/soul helps us eliminate these evil thoughts from our minds. God calls these evil thoughts dusts of the mind. Our pure soul like sand collects these evil dusts from the mind. For some people, there will be much dust surrounding the pure heart. Each of these dusts detaches from the heart and manifests itself as suffering or inconvenience to one’s body. What one sows, one reaps. For some who have much dust surrounding the soul, there will a continual reminder of inconveniences coming from the soul to hasten the purification of our minds.

What does one do when suffering or fate from the soul occurs? For many, the evil in their minds will make them act inappropriately causing more evil thoughts in their minds. But God tells us that when we experience fate from the soul/heart, we should calm our minds, and ponder. God wants us not to take action on our evil thoughts. When this occurs, gradually our evil thoughts will not emerge from our minds. For some people, dependent on the amount of evil surrounding their souls, they will be challenged many times; but if they continue to suppress their evil thoughts by not acting on them, their souls will eventually return to their pristine pure form.

It is this eternal soul/heart that God wants us to understand. It is difficult to understand the soul/heart because these dusts surrounding the heart may not immediately detach from the heart. They may not manifest during this lifetime. God tells us that he will begin to help us understand the soul/heart by letting us know about the fate that surrounds the soul in this lifetime. That illness or inconvenience may be God guiding you right now! Understand the heart/soul.

God wants us to understand the soul.

Looking all over the world and through all ages, I find no one who understands the heart (soul).  Tip of the Writing Brush 1-1

Why does God want us to understand the soul? Because our souls determine our future. We suffer or have joy depending on what surrounds our eternal soul.

The soul is who we are. The soul is an amalgam of positive energies; by itself it brings upon joy to ourselves because of these positive energies.  There is “Good” in everyone because of our original pure soul; but our souls have accumulated negative energies around them; this is why we suffer. Let us further explore the soul/heart.

The soul is an individualized ethereal positive energy source from God that enters our borrowed bodies at birth or shortly after; and it leaves our lifeless bodies at death to return to heaven. During our earthly stays, it collects our evil thoughts as negative energies; and it eventually releases the negative energies back to us as sufferings.

The eternal soul carries our negative energies. These energies transform into our former thoughts and also manifest into sufferings, temptations, and inconveniences that come back to us as fate or illness. When the soul enters our bodies after birth, the negative energies around the soul converts back into our former thoughts, and permeates our minds; death does not erase our evil thoughts. This will explain the origin of anger in innocent children. Our evil thoughts do not disappear with the demise of our bodies; the soul carries them until we are able to remove them from our minds. These negative energies surrounding the soul also manifest into sufferings, temptations and inconveniences that come back to us as fate or illness. The biblical proverb, “We reap what we sow” would appear to be true.

By these inconveniences that the soul delivers, they help us eliminate evil thoughts from our minds; these inconveniences work to remind us of the evils in our minds. These evil thoughts are greed, arrogance, miserliness, covetousness and self-love. All other evil thoughts are derived from or a combination of these five categories of thoughts; for example anger and hate are derived from arrogance. These evil thoughts when placed into action causes sufferings to others; but unknown to most of us, they also brings upon suffering back to the perpetrators of the evil actions as a result of the soul.

How does the soul eliminate evil from our minds? If we calm our minds and ponder; and do not act on our existing evil thoughts when faced with what the soul metes out (sufferings, inconveniences and temptations), these thoughts from our minds  gradually subside. Our minds  becomes pure, and the evil surrounding our souls are eliminated. This results in a pure soul void of negative energy, which brings upon a joyous life for the individual.

For many people, the purification of the mind will be a long process, dependent on the amount of negative energy they have accumulated around their soul, which is also equivalent to the amount of evil thoughts in their mind. These sufferings that the negative energies manifest will test their resolve of not taking action on their evil thoughts. But if they continue to control their evil thoughts by not acting on them, the evils in their mind will be eliminated.  There is a saying that from  knots (sufferings),  buds (opportunities to remove evil thoughts) will sprout if we understand the soul.

But suppose we do not understand what the soul does? If we act on our evil thoughts when the soul distributes its negative energy, others will suffer and our minds will continue to produce more negative thoughts. This increases the negative energy surrounding our pure soul, causing the soul to bring upon more suffering upon ourselves.  From  knots, knots will continue to sprout if we do not understand the soul. Do not ignore the manifestations of the soul. This is why we must not blame others for any inconveniences or sufferings; they are manifestations of our own souls. We must look within our minds to understand why the soul brings upon sufferings, temptations and inconveniences.

It is this  soul/heart that will continue for eternity, inhabiting sometimes imperfect bodies, and  sometimes producing unimaginable sufferings; but it is the soul that brings upon these conditions by releasing these negative energies surrounding it. This religion explains how to remove these negative energies surrounding the soul, so we can uncover the pure heart/soul and live the “Joyous life”. The following verse summarizes the path of the soul/heart.

“In the world’s path, you can do whatever you want and get away with it, so long as no one sees you do it. But in the path of the heart/soul, it all comes to bear on yourself”

OUR BELIEFS FROM A RELIGIOUS PERSPECTIVE:

God descended from heaven to teach us about the soul.  He encouraged the early followers to remove evil thoughts from their minds, often placing temporary illness on their bodies to help them understand the relationship between the mind, body and soul.

God told his followers that shared joy is true joy. We can not have true joy while others suffer. We must share these teachings with others. He gave them special instructions to bring others to our places of worship. God told his followers that he would begin to place illness on others in relationship with the evil thoughts in their minds to help them understand the soul. God gives them a preview of what sufferings they may endure if they continue to harbor evil thoughts. This special guidance is what makes this religion so unique. We pray for the salvation of others!

This guidance as illness is only initiated with our special prayer (Joyous Service) that God has granted to us.  When people we have introduced the soul come to us to be healed, we further explain the soul and God’s teachings.  They are then healed and are able to understand the soul; and begin to purify their minds. This process of purifying the mind, spreading the truth, and praying continues until all mankind is purified of evil in their minds. God hastens for the day that all minds of the world are pure. When this occurs, there will be heaven on earth for all of God’s children.

OUR PATH:

To continue to purify our minds of negative thoughts ( sin/evil ) when confronted with temptation and sufferings manifested by the soul.

Evil sweeping. Save them please, Universal Saving God .

To heal the people whose minds have been revealed when God guides them to us; and teach them about the soul (heart), causality and true sincerity. True sincerity is a mind that ponders over suffering and obstacles that the soul delivers, and accepts these inconveniences in a joyous manner. This will make our minds pure and spirited; and by the principle of causality will bring forth joy in the future due to the pure soul (heart).

GOD’S PROMISE:

All mankind will live a joyous life with everyone helping each other.

WHAT WE ASK YOU TO DO:

Please share this website with others and tell them about the soul/heart.

Tenrikyo /The Soul has no Color

Racist people do not realize that they have common factors that they share with other racist people regardless of the color of their skin. They all have the thoughts of arrogance, and self love in their minds. Bigots do not realize that it is not color of the skin that binds or separates them from other people; it is their evil thoughts that they have in common with other racist people, regardless of color.

It is not the distinction of skin colors which God judges; but it is the thoughts in our minds that God distinguishes and categorizes to determine our fate. For the racist out there, beware of your future path because it has no relationship on appearance; but it does, on the state of the mind. Purify your minds of greed, arrogance, and self-love, because the soul has no color.

Tenrikyo /Heart and Soul

In the Ofudesaki (Tip of the Writing Brush), God tells us that we do not understand the heart (soul).

Looking all over the world and through all ages,

I find no one who understands the heart (soul). 1-1

Uncovering the heart may reveal the mysteries of life. The significance of this verse, as it is the first of over 1,000 verses in our sacred book cannot be ignored. So what is the soul, and its relationship with our lives? Why does God want us to understand the heart (soul)?

On a side note, let me discuss a molecule called Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). It is the building block of the human body. It contains all the information needed to construct our bodies. Who could of imagined 100 years ago, that we could possible construct human organs, or even a whole individual from a molecule called DNA! From this perspective, can there be an entity like the DNA molecule in our bodies that can predict our fate, and explain the happenings in our complex world.

I am introducing the heart (soul) as it is described in the Tip of the Writing Brush (Ofudesaki) and the Osashizu (Devine Instructions). It is not clear if the soul is the physical fist sized heart in our bodies, or an intangible entity of energy that is described in our sacred book. The heart is said to be a pure positive source of energy derived from God that brings upon joy; but the heart has another function of collecting our negative thoughts that come from our minds. These negative thoughts are greed, arrogance, miserliness, covetousness, and self-love. These evils are sometimes called dusts in our religion. For some, the soul becomes covered with these dusts of evil derived from the mind; and for others the soul is unencumbered, and brings upon only joy.

The heart or soul like the DNA molecule stores our information. Like the DNA that stores our genetic makeup, our hearts stores our disposition. We reap what we sow. Every negative thought is delivered to the heart (soul). What becomes of these negative thoughts that encircle our souls? God tells us that they determine our fate.

The unencumbered pure heart only brings upon joy, while each dust surrounding the heart eventually is detached from the heart. The detached dust manifests into suffering or inconvenience. We reap what we sow. Our soul continues to remind us of our state of mind.

For some, the repeated episodes of suffering, pain, temptations and inconveniences derived from these dusts may bring upon more evil from their minds. They do not understand the soul. But for those who understand the soul (heart), they may decide to calm their minds and not act upon their negative thoughts when confronted with adversities. This will eventually eliminate the evils originating from the mind. By this process their souls will eventually shed the dusts surrounding it, and become restored to it pure form.

It is interesting that the heart is one organ of the body that usually is free of cancer. Can the physical heart be the soul or pure heart mentioned in our sacred books? It is something to ponder about!

Tenrikyo /An Ordinary Woman

The following is an excerpt from the Osashizu concerning the Foundress of the Tenrikyo (Heaven’s Truth) religion.

She was not a well-known person. She was just an ordinary person on a farm, a woman who knew nothing. She was no one special. But understand well the truth that it was she who taught the ultimate teaching. She never went anywhere to see things, never learned anything in particular. I (God) entered the body of this woman and spread the truth. Understand this well. Teach the members of your family. The human body is a thing lent, a thing borrowed. Each way you have used your mind is reflected in this world. You have been born and reborn into this world many times. Each way you have used your mind is shown. When you have the thought, “What a situation is this”, you should settle your mind with joyous acceptance. Everything is reflected in this world. However large your treasure, of what value is it if you suffer from illness? There may be no greater misery. Free and unlimited blessings depend on your mind. Carry this truth with you. There will be a day when blessings will come quickly to your family and to everyone. If you believe this to be true, then come seeking to Me (God).

Tenrikyo /Why Are People Evil?

What causes people to be evil? Is evil in our genes or is it learned. Why do some children become bad even though they were brought up in good homes? Could we blame the evil monsters in history on their environment?

Science will say that human beings are all made up of essentially the same composition of organic matter. Our DNA makeup is remarkably similar from one person to another compared to other species of animals. The only difference is what thoughts are in our minds. It is not the memories, synaptic connections, and gray or white matters that distinguish us from others; but it is the amount of evil thoughts of greed, arrogance, miserliness, covetousness, and self love that we have in our minds today. This is essentially what makes each of us different from another. Even between family members, we all have differences in the amount of evil in our minds. Where do these evils come from, and what do they do?

Enter the soul (heart) in explaining what we cannot explain with science as of yet. The soul is a vehicle in which our evil thoughts are carried. The soul is a positive source of energy from God that collects the negative energy of these evil thoughts that are manufactured in our minds. The soul (heart) becomes our identity, which differentiates each individual from another. The soul also tries to purify itself from these evil dusts that surround it, trying to eliminate these negative energies blocking the pure soul. These evil dusts carry our fate, and materialize as suffering or inconveniences. We reap what we sow. From these sufferings, we can calm our minds of the evil in our minds, and not take action when these knots occur in our lives. When this happens, eventually these evil thoughts will not be manufactured in our minds. Our souls will eventually become pure again. For some people, this purity of the soul takes time because of the amount of dust on their soul. For others, they will continue to suffer because they cannot understand the heart (soul) in relationship to causality and reincarnation.

When does the soul enter the developing fetus and influence the developing mind? When does the negative dust surrounding the soul enter the mind of the child, restoring the mind to its previous stage and identity?   When does the child lose his or her innocence? When does life start? These are all good questions that may bring upon answers to why people are evil.

God wants us to understand the soul.

Looking all over the world and through all ages, I find no one who understands the heart (soul).  Tip of the Writing Brush 1-1

Tenrikyo /Why Cancer of the Heart is So Rare

It is interesting that cancer of the heart is a rare occurrence. Can we find the answer in religion? In the Heaven’s Truth Religion (Tenrikyo), God tells us that mankind was created from Heaven and earth. God used the instruments or creatures of the sea and the pure heart of God in creating mankind. We all have the pure heart of God in each of us.   But whether God is actually talking about the physical fist size organ as the heart, or an abstract nonphysical entity, often describes as the soul, is unknown.

But ever since the first sin, our pure hearts (souls) have become surrounded by our evil thoughts of greed, arrogance, and self-love. God tells us in our religion, these dusts are what prevent our pure hearts from bringing upon joy. These dusts surrounding our hearts also bring upon disease like cancer, which can spread to all parts of our bodies. These dusts also develop into sufferings and misfortunes upon oneself. Again one must wonder why the heart is not prone to the malignant cells that ravage many of our organs. Could it be because the heart or soul is from God? If this is so, is the following verse from the Ofudesaki (Tip of the Writing Brush) relevant?

Among all mankind, there is no one who is evil.

It is only a bit of dust stuck on. 1-53

If this is true, the evils that we must destroy are the thoughts of greed, arrogance, and self love. We must eliminate these thoughts from our minds, and from the minds of the people we think to be evil.

God wants us to understand the soul.

Tenrikyo /We Do Not Understand the Soul

In the Heaven’s Truth Religion (Tenrikyo), these evils or sins are the thoughts of greed, arrogance, miserliness, covetousness, and self-love.

Each individual soul was once said to be pure, only manifesting joy for the individual; but for many of us, the evil thoughts of the mind have surrounded the once pure soul (heart). These dusts (evil thoughts) prevent joy from emerging from the innermost soul. In contrast, these dusts surrounding the soul manifest into sufferings and inconveniences that are prevalent in the world today (karma, causality or innen). How do we remove these dusts surrounding our souls? We must stop the production of these dusts, which originate from our minds.

God tells us that if we calm our minds when suffering, temptation, or inconveniences occur, and do not act on our evil thoughts; these thoughts will gradually disappear from our minds, and our souls will become pure again. But to eliminate these dusts is very difficult because many of us do not understand why we suffer or have joy. We do not understand the soul. We need the strength to calm our minds when adversity or temptations that arise from karma occurs. This is especially true for those that have much evil surrounding their souls. It is the manifestation of these evils that tests our resolve. For many of us, we will be tested many times before our souls become pure due to the amount of evil surrounding our souls. For some, there will be many regressions as they succumb to their evil thoughts.

It is this understanding of the soul that God has descended from Heaven to teach. God will begin to work and begin to place illness and pain as guidance today. This is like God giving us a little inconvenience today, in order to prevent a great calamity in the future. He wants us to understand the heart (soul). What we sow, we reap. This parental guidance from a loving God is what separates this religion from all other religions.

Tenrikyo /Reincarnation and Causality

I am a proponent that for every action, there is a reaction. I believe this theory for everything that occurs in this world. This includes sufferings, misfortunes, as well as joy and happiness. I realize that for some people who are suffering, this will be difficult to comprehend because they are not aware of or are not yet able to comprehend the universe as it relates to them. This is a concept of reincarnation and causality (karma, innen).

The Concept of causality may propose that we suffer today because we are bad. Nobody wants to be labeled as bad, and many skeptics will certainly refute this for this reason; they will say that it is like God labeling people bad with a scarlet letter. This will also incorrectly send a message that the people who are not experiencing suffering are good people.

But I believe that Cause and effect have no time limitations. The effects of our actions may not develop until the next lives. We have all sinned, whether we know it to be true from our own memories, or from past lives which we have no recollections. For this reason, we do not know what waits around the corner, whether it is good or bad news. Causality warns the world, that we eventually reap what we sow. Some will say that our soul keeps account of our credits and debits, releasing them at opportune times as joy and suffering. But it is time that makes the relationship between cause and effect irrelevant. We cannot connect the effect to the cause. We do not understand that God’s justice always prevails in this world.

Enter a new religion that states that God has descended from Heaven to help mankind understand causality. God tells us that he will begin to work because he sees the path of suffering in the world. God will begin to place illness as guidance. God will begin to shorten the time lapse between the cause and effect, making the relationship easier to understand. That illness or suffering is God informing you of evil (greed, arrogance, and self-love) in your mind today. God gives you a glimpse of the future by this guidance.

This guidance is what makes our religion so unique to other religions that also believe in reincarnation and causality. Again it is our behavior and thoughts today, which determines our happiness in the future. We determine our own fate.
