The Path to Heal the Sick

I was talking to a co-worker who was telling me about her migraine headaches, how painful and how restrictive her life was because of this intense pain she has been suffering since she was 15 years old. In my mind, I was thinking that God could potentially cure her with our salvation service. But if I were to come out and introduce our religion, what would she think, and what would my co-workers think about me. What would happen if God could not heal her? How many of us are in the shadows, scared to spread our religion. This is a religion that promises to heal the sick that doctors and medicine can not heal. This is why we must understand the teachings of God. We must go back to the Origin (basics), and study the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki). God tells us that he has already opened a “Path” to our salvation. We must first go through this path, and then share it with the world. We have the potential to heal the sick; but more important, to bring upon joy to the whole world. Where do we find out about this path; and what are the steps necessary to complete this path? The answer is contained in the Book of Prophecy.

Some people believe that our religion is the ultimate and final religion that will save the world. But why does church membership not increase? Why does God not help bring new people into our churches? In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki), it is said that God will begin to work, but there are no places, or people to convey God’s truth. The following is from the Book of Prophecy:

Though I desire to go forth quickly,

I cannot go out because there is no path. 2-13

This path I wish to make quickly,

but there is no place else to open it. 2-14

What do you think this talk is about?

I am hastening for the places where God’s truth is conveyed. (Need churches to teach the prayer) 2-16

Why do we need churches? What would happen if God begins to work his blessing, but no one understands these blessings when they are revealed? We need people that have true sincerity, have the courage and commitment to spread God’s truths and explain these blessings. God’s truth conveys a path that leads to a joyous life.

God’s “Path” involves the following sequences to complete. (1) The process of purifying one’s mind of evil (greed, arrogance, and self love), (2) praying (Joyous Service) with true sincerity to save others, (3) receiving God’s blessings of potential new members to save, and (4) teaching them God’s truth so they can live a joyous life.

Ponder over why the path does not go to completion, and then ponder why church membership does not increase. Where is the obstruction in the path?

This path if you truly think about it

ponder over it from your innermost heart. 2-15

This path initiates with the true sincerity (without greed, arrogance, and self love) of the individual. This is the” Key “to our special prayer. When God accepts our sincerity, he brings individuals to our churches so we can heal them, and conveys God’s truth. God has given us this special prayer to save others; but the sincere mind (key) may not yet have formed to initiate and complete our special prayer. Remove greed, arrogance, and self love from our minds.

We need people that have true sincerity, have the courage and commitment to spread God’s truths and explain these blessings when God reveals these blessings to the world.

This path if you truly think about it

When God ascertains our sincere mind and commitment, God will then answer our prayers and will bring us individuals to teach them about these blessings that were bestowed on them.

This “Path” refers to the process of praying (Joyous Service) with true sincerity, receiving God’s blessings of potential new members, and teaching them God’s truth so they can live a joyous life. Ponder over why the path does not go to completion, and then ponder why church membership does not increase. The path starts from within. Sweep greed, arrogance, and self love from your minds for the prayer to be effective. A sign (Joyous Service) for a sign (God’s blessings).

Is God a Democrat or Republican?

In the Heaven’s Truth Religion (Tenrikyo), we believe that mankind is inherently good; but evil (greed, arrogance, and self love), from our environment has gradually accumulated in their hearts. We believe that we can sweep these evils from our mind, and return to the original purified mind. There are other religions that believe that mankind is inherently evil; and advocate strict laws and regulations in controlling the actions of mankind. They restrict the growth of the individual mind, and their ability to grow spiritually.

Comparing politics to religion, in politics the Democrats believe that mankind is evil, and that the government needs to pass laws to regulate their behavior. They attempt to put forth myriads of laws that attempt to protect the indigent and the downtrodden from the supposedly unscrupulous and greedy entrepreneurs. Billions of our taxes are targeted to the poor because they believe that the affluent will choose selfishness over generosity. The poor begin to believe that “Government” will take care of them; and they begin to oppose and despise the affluent that ironically fund the government.

The Republicans believe that government should take a lesser role in the lives of the citizen. They believe that capitalism allows the affluent to take care of the less fortunate and the poor. They believe that man is inherently good. The accumulation of wealth and knowledge will trickle down and be distributed. This gives everyone, the ability to go from rags to riches. It supports the theory that true joy is shared joy.

Evil is like Dust

How difficult is it to change one’s behavior, like the suppression of anger? How difficult is it for one to resist anger when confronted with obstacles? God compared these evils of the mind to dusts that accumulate on physical surfaces. When dust is light, it is easy to wipe away; but when dust has accumulated, it is very difficult to clean. If you have a ceiling fan, you will easily understand this analogy. This is why it is difficult to change a person who has heavily accumulated evil, like anger or greed. To remove these evils will require much vigilance and effort by the individual.

To the disappointment of many religious people, the acceptance of God does not eliminate the evils in our minds. It is through God that we can change our mindset. God helps us sweep these evils away. How does God help us remove these evils? The Western religions may say that God tests us; while the Eastern religions believe God guides us by causality (karma). But at the end, it is the individual that must sweep these evils by him or herself.

It is not surprising that some who claim to have found God regresses at times where others find fault in the person. It is not the teaching that does not stand, but it is the accumulated dusts that often make it difficult for the individual to purify his or her mind when challenges or suffering occurs. In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki), God tells us that this path is a very difficult path; but he promises that the rewards are great!

True Sincerity as the Truth of Heaven

True sincerity is a mind that accepts sufferings and inconveniences in life with joy and without worry. The path of true sincerity is a difficult path. Who among us can accept suffering and inconvenience with joy? How can we accept the actions of those who want to hurt us, even when we realize that they reflect what we ourselves have done in previous lives due to causality (karma, innen)? Who can accept the rejection of someone who once loved you? How can one not show anger, disdain and disappointment? How can we not feel sorry for ourselves, succumb to our self-pity, and lash out to the people who we feel cause our unhappiness; some when faced with inconvenience try to seek solace in drugs, and other illicit activities.

In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), God confirms that the path of true sincerity is a difficult path; because suffering and inconveniences have a tendency to bring out the worst in us. But if we accept these self-inflicted inconveniences with joy, we can by the law of causality produce a better future. By our actions and thoughts of today, we create our future. The narrow and difficult path becomes a broad and easy path of God’s blessings. But who among us has the strength and faith in overcoming these adversities?

Retribution, the spark of evil

Retribution is the spark, which fuels evil. Evil is greed, arrogance, and self-love. In the Heaven’s Truth Religion (Tenrikyo), the foundress of the religion, Oyasama once told a follower that when we sometimes confront evil, it is sometimes prudent to retreat to fight another day. She told the follower that confronting evil may place one in jeopardy of obtaining the evil, like evil as a contagious bacteria or virus. For example, when one confronts evil, sometimes anger, hatred and grudge bearing arises in the mind of the person. Anger and animosity both originate from evil.

So what does one do when confronted with evil or anything, which one does not agree with? As always it is prudent to tell the person; but to confront him or her may produce evil in oneself. If one believes in a “Powerful Good God”, why not let God deal with the evil person. If one believes in causality and reincarnation, let this process take care of the person. But in today’s world, we see retribution for past actions from events that happened centuries ago. We have a mindset to take matters into our own hands, justifying it as God’s work. Often times, creating evil in our own minds, and continuing the cycle of evil and suffering.

In the Heaven’s Truth Church, we have a prayer that asks God to help sweep away the evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) of the world. It is God who helps to sweep the evil in the world. We are only his messengers.

Causality as the Truth of Heaven

Why is causality so difficult to understand? This is a concept that what we do today will affect us in the future, even in our next lives if one believes in reincarnation. Cause and effect is utilized in science and medicine. It is utilized in law enforcement to solve crimes. It is studied extensively in psychology.

In religion, why is the origin or genesis so important? In the Heaven’s Truth Religion, we seek the “Original causality”, or why God created mankind. We believe that God created mankind to live a joyous life. In essence we find God when we seek the original causality.

Yet today without knowing the concept of causality, many believe that they can behave and act without any consequences in the future. They do not know that what they sow, they reap. We see joy and suffering; and we see good and evil in the world. Could there be a relationship? Heaven’s truth may be the law of causality.

A Prayer for God’s Workings

In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki), God tells us that he will begin to work in saving all mankind. Even the date of January 26, 1887 is given as the special day. God promises that he will do “Marvelous workings” to save mankind. Many of us would think that marvelous would mean benefits like financial or worldly gains; but in the Book of Prophecy, it appears that marvelous refers to God placing illness on our bodies. How could illness be marvelous and benefit us?

It is said that God will begin to begin the process of helping mankind live a joyous life. Illness becomes God’s tool in informing us that we are using our minds contrary to God’s intentions. God uses illness to help us remove these evils from our minds. But how does he place illness on us? God gives us a glimpse of our future lives by entering us and comparing our minds with the pure mind (Oyasama) at the creation of mankind. When evil is present, God places illness on our bodies. Illness becomes God’s guidance. These illnesses that God places, requires a special prayer (Joyous Service). But why does God require a prayer in initiating his miraculous workings (placing illness)?

In the Book of Prophecy, God states that he has given us a special prayer, and opened the portal to save all mankind. This should mean that our religion should be increasing in membership. But our church membership does not increase. Who of us has the true sincerity to pray (Joyous Service) that God will place illness on others; and who of us have the courage and faith to heal and teach them when God places them in front of us. What is the use of God placing illness on people if there is no one to heal them and tell them God’s teachings? This is why our prayer (Joyous service) must be sincere for God to accept it. We must know what we are praying for, and have the faith and strength to heal and inform others when God answers our prayers. When this happens, God’s promise will be realized. A prayer for God’s marvelous workings (verse 17-74).

A Prayer For God’s workings (verse 17-74)

In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki), God tells us that he will begin to work in saving all mankind. God will begin to perform marvelous salvations. Even the date of January 26, 1887 is given as the special day. But we do not see God’s workings today.

God uses illness to help us remove these evils from our hearts. Evil refers to greed, arrogance, and self love. God will begin to show the world that our minds reflect what happens to us in our future lives. God gives us a glimpse of our future lives by entering us and evaluating our minds. When evil is present, God places illness on our bodies. Illness becomes God’s guidance. But why does God require a prayer in initiating his miraculous workings (placing illness)?

In the Book of Prophecy, God states that he has given us a special prayer, and opened the portal to save all mankind. But our church membership does not increase. Who of us has the true sincerity to pray (Joyous Service) that God will place illness on others, and even to those we love; and who of us have the courage and faith to heal and teach them when God places them in front of us. We in the church must know what we are praying for, and have the faith and strength to heal and inform others when God answers our prayers. When this happens, God’s promise will be realized. A prayer for God’s marvelous workings (verse 17-74).
