WE MUST FIRST UNDERSTAND CAUSALITY. CAUSALITY IS HEAVEN’S TRUTH. IT IS A PROCESS OF PURIFYING OUR MINDS.
UNDERSTANDING CAUSALITY OPENS THE PATH TO JOY. IT EXPLAINS WHY WE SUFFER OR HAVE JOY. WE REAP WHAT WE HAVE SOWED. THE BLAMING OF OTHERS COMES TO AN END. THE ANSWER TO WHY ONE SUFFERS OR HAS JOY COMES BACK TO ONESELF. THIS PROCESS GIVES US THE ABILITY TO CREATE A JOYOUS FUTURE; BUT IT ALSO CONTINUES OUR SUFFERINGS IF WE RESPOND NEGATIVELY TOWARD ANY INCONVENIENCES OR OBSTACLES.

We believe in the law of causality and reincarnation. Good thoughts and actions result in joy. Evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) thoughts and actions result in suffering and inconveniences in the future. Cause and effect have no time limitations. The effects of our actions may not develop until the next life.
With our special prayer (Joyous Service), God will begin to shorten the time lapse between the cause and effect, making the relationship easier to understand. That illness or suffering may be God informing you of the misuse of your mind. God gives you a glimpse of the future by this guidance.

To pray daily with our special prayer (Joyous Service), asking God to help spread the truth of causality to the world.
To heal the people whose minds have been revealed when God guides them to us; and teach them about causality and true sincerity. True sincerity is a mind that ponders over these suffering and obstacles, and accepts these inconveniences in a joyous manner. This will by the principle of causality bring forth joy in the future.

Why God tells us that we do not understand.
We cannot go against reasoning and expect that the world will wear our Japanese ceremonial kimonos and perform 12 difficult dances in a language that they can not understand. This religion is not a Japanese; it is a world religion that will settle the world.
We must perform the Joyous Service which God requests in our sacred book. We must translate this prayer into every language on earth, and spread it like wild fire. Besides removing evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our hearts, this Joyous Service becomes the primary impetus in God spreading the truth of causality. Remember, this is prayer to save all mankind . Please read our Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki) in its original form. Spread the prayer that God has given us! A sign for a sign (a prayer for God’s workings).

God has given us the teachings, but we do not understand. God has prophesized the initiation of salvation, and have given us the simple instructions to salvation, but we do not understand. God has shortened the lifespan of his chosen one, but we still do not understand. What is it that we do not understand?
God has said to be a spectator since the creation of mankind. We have witnessed so many evils and sufferings since God’s creation. We have also observed good and joy throughout history. The world continues, vacillating between suffering and joy, and between evil and good. Could there be a cause/effect relationship?
In many religions, a chosen one is sent by God, breaking the long period of God as an observer of his children. This person is said to have a mind as pure as God, and teaches God’s truth. But due to man’s selfishness, God’s truth are not understood. God’s prophecy of their demise to hasten the salvation of mankind then comes to fruition. The chosen one then begins to work with God to hasten man’s salvation.
The similarities of the religions end here because it is the truth that we do not understand. What is God’s truth? Many confuse it with the world’s truth.
In the Heaven’s Truth religion we believe that God created all mankind to live a joyous life. We are all God’s children and we are all brothers and sister; and God loves even the one’s that do not understand his heart now. It is prophesized that all mankind will be purified and live a joyous life. It is with this prophecy that he has given us a special prayer to ask God to sweep evil from the minds of all mankind. It is God that will help us to remove evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) from the minds of the world. It is with this special prayer (Joyous Service) that will initiate the salvation of the world.
In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki), it is stated that since the creation of mankind, God had been a spectator. There is a date in history that God began to help mankind. This important date is January 26, 1887. This is the day that Oyasama, the parent of all mankind passed away. What makes her physical absence so important in God’s plan to help mankind?
Oyasama, the soul of the first parent of mankind was said to have a lifespan of 115 years guaranteed by God. She communicated through God the teaching of the Heaven’s Truth Religion (Tenrikyo). But unexpectedly to her followers, she becomes ill. Through a mediator, God is asked what needs to be done to save Oyasama. God asks, “ Should I open the portal to level the ground or close the portal to level the ground?” The followers reply to open the portal to level the ground hoping that God will save Oyasama. On January 26, 1887, as the prayer service ends, she passes away. Her followers are at loss to what to do. A mediator is again utilized to ask why Oyasama passed away. God replies that he had done what the followers had requested. He had opened the portal to level the ground.
Let us attempt to find out what the opening of the portal means. First what is the portal? There are verses in the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki) that alludes that the Kanrodai (Pillar) may be the portal. What does the Pillar do? In the Book of Prophecy, it is said that the Pillar will distinguish between evil and good minds.
Among the high mountains, the preparation to distinguish between those
of nihon (good) and those of kara (evil) will be made also by the Pillar. 2-46
But what is this Pillar that distinguishes our minds? In the Heaven’s Truth Church, the Pillar is said to be a stand representing the location where God created mankind, specifically the exact location where human beings were created. In our religion, we believe that Oyasama was the first parent of mankind at this location. Her mind is said to be pure. The above verse states that God will utilize the Stand in comparing our minds to Oyasama’s pure mind. Again, God emphasizes that this process of purification of the mind has not occurred yet, but prophesizes that it will soon occur in the future.
In the Book of Prophecy, it is also said that Oyasama and the Kanrodai are the same. They represent the purity of the mind at the creation of mankind.

This is because the Parent of Nihon (Oyasama) exists 10-22*
While physically present, Oyasama was said to be the shrine of God, where people directed their prayers to receive God’s blessings. In the Book of Prophecy, God continues to request the followers to perform the special prayer (Joyous Service) with a mind of true sincerity (without greed, arrogance, and self love). But the early followers were indecisive to perform the prayer due to their concerns about the safety of Oyasama. Authorities had continued to imprison her in her latter years for the performance of the prayer service for the salvation of mankind. Many in the Tenrikyo Church believe that God shortened her life by 25 years, so that her followers could perform the prayer without worrying about the authorities taking Oyasama to prison. But can we not also speculate that her soul now has returned to the location of the Kanrodai, where now God can compare the minds of the world with Oyasama’s pure original mind. The prediction of verse 2-46 now becomes real. The Portal or the Kanrodai is now opened as requested by the early followers. Our sincere prayer toward the Pillar now becomes effective. God begins to purify the minds of the world.
With our sincere prayer toward the Pillar, God begins to bring people to us by distinguishing their minds with Oyasama’s pure mind. If evil is present, God then enters them, and places illness on their bodies.
Kara (evil) and Nihon (good) in distinguishing them,
fire and water (illness) will be put in to distinguish them. 2-47

With our sincere prayer, God brings people to us, so we can teach them about causality, or how our minds reflect what happen to us. We heal their illness and teach them our special prayer (Joyous Service) toward the Pillar. This continues until the whole world becomes spirited.
On this important date of January 26, 1887, Oyasama returns to the original location of the creation of mankind fulfilling God’s prophecy, initiating the salvation of all mankind. God had opened the portal to level the ground.
*It is also interesting to note the similarities of the confiscation of the Stand by the authorities, and the imprisonment of Oyasama by the authorities, both situations causing God’s anger.
The path of true sincerity is a very difficult path. Who among us can accept suffering and inconvenience with joy? How can we accept the actions of those who want to hurt us, even when we realize that they reflect what we ourselves have done in previous lives? Who can accept the rejection of someone who once loved you? How can one not show anger, disdain and disappointment? How can we not feel sorry for ourselves, succumb to our self-pity, and lash out to the people who we feel cause our unhappiness?
In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), it is said that the path of True sincerity is a difficult path because we cannot avoid what we have done in the past. We reap what we have sowed. But if we accept these self-inflicted inconveniences with joy, we can by the law of causality produce a better future. By our actions and thoughts of today, we create our future. The narrow and difficult path becomes a broad and easy path of God’s blessings.
I see in the news of people who want to eradicate cancer and illness. But how do we eliminate illness? Is it through scientific research and discovery? Science and medicine play a part in the eradication of human suffering. For example, the discovery of antibiotics and vaccines has decreased human sufferings.
But if we believe in higher being, it is God who made the discovery of antibiotics and vaccines possible. Could these scientists have discovered these medications without God? What makes God give us these blessings? In the Heaven’s Truth Religion (Tenrikyo), it is the reflection of the world’s minds that God evaluates to give these blessings.
If we believe that our minds reflect the physical world, then we should be placing emphasis on the purification of our minds of evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) in the eradication of disease. When the minds of the world become pure, then cancer and disease may no longer exist. Science and medicine are important; but the path to cure cancer may begin with the purification of our minds.

What if we advertised and spread only the meat of the teaching? Spread the truth of causality; spread the prevention of the dusts, and most important, spread the Joyous Service.
What if we advertised on the billboards of the world, on radio and television stations, and in newspapers? What if we directed our limited financial resources on advertisements? In Chapter 14, God encourages us to inform others of our special prayer.
What if we perform the Joyous Service with sincerity (without greed and arrogance) in a language we could understand? Would God then give us the blessings that are promised in the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki)? Would more people begin to understand causality?
In the Book of Prophecy, God continues to warn us that we do not understand? Even the children of the chosen one (Oyasama) did not understand. They did not understand the significance and the power of the Joyous Service in settling the earth.
Unfortunately in religion, ceremonies and tradition usually supersede the purification of the mind. Even today in the Tenrikyo Religion, the leaders of the church require that we perform a rigorous ceremony, dressed in ancient Japanese attire, and performed perfectly in Japanese for God to give his blessings. We are not too different from the cultures that sacrificed animals to appease their Gods. We believe that God needs to be praised and offered our sacrifices (ceremonies) before his blessings are granted. But does God need our praise?
The Joyous Service differs from any prayer on earth. It asks God to help others understand causality, and helps them understand why we suffer or have joy. It brings people to us so we can help them purify their minds of greed and arrogance. It is a prayer asking God to help others. It is a self-perpetuating prayer that supposes to bring understanding to the world. Like a fertilizer, which brings upon an abundance of crop, this prayer brings people to us, so we can teach them God’s truth. It is a prayer that we need to spread to the world in every language.
What if we begin to concentrate on our special prayer? Will we then receive God’s blessings?
In the beginning, God created the world. God felt lonely; so heaven and earth as a model, God created husband and wife. At first there was goodness and purity of the mind, and there was joy and happiness. But as new generations appeared, evil began to appear; and suffering and unhappiness also began to appear in the world.
We see suffering, and joy in the world. We also see evil and good. Can there be a relationship? In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), it reminds us to understand causality, and react to it in a positive way when we confront it. Suffering, and illness do not control us; our reaction to these self-directed inconveniences determines our future. We control our own future lives. If we do not understand causality and react inappropriately to suffering, we may not know what kind of people is on the same path in our next lives. Beware of your future. Remove greed, arrogance, and self love from your hearts to get on God’s path of the joyous world.

Throughout the sacred books, God reminds us that we do not understand? What is it that we do not understand? We do not understand the concept of causality and reincarnation. God also tells us that without understanding causality, one cannot begin to understand the purpose of life, or why mankind was created.
Why are we so reluctant to accept this important concept? Causality explains why we suffer or have joy. Causality plays no favors to any race or religion; we reap what we sow. Causality tells us that we have all sinned in our previous lives. Our souls are not pure. Many of us are born with the excess baggage (evil) from past lives. These evils (dusts) sprout to cause suffering.
To many, the concept of causality is negative and dark but they are wrong. Yes, we must accept the consequences of our past actions; but causality gives us the opportunity to create joy in the future. If we think and behave good today, we have the ability to guarantee a joyous future. We are in control of our future lives.
What has the belief in heaven in the afterlife created in the world today? What would happen if everyone believes in causality? There will be peace on earth.
