The Entire World is a Mirror

How can we explain the suffering in the world today? Why can’t God who created man stop these sufferings? In the one of Heaven’s Truth (Tenrikyo) sacred books is the following:

If I say “causality,” you probably do not understand it. The entire world is a mirror. Although all human beings go through births and rebirths, each way you have used your mind is accurately reflected to your body. Understand this well.                              Osashizu  February 15, 1888

Summary: What we sow, we reap. By our good thoughts and behavior today, we have the ability to create a joyous future. We control our own destiny. What occurs in the world, is a reflection of all of our minds.

Imagine a World…….

What would happen if there were no greed, arrogance, and self-love in the world? There would be no crime, no wars, no military, no courts, etc. Imagine the trillion of dollars that we can save; and use these savings to improve society. Imagine the world without hunger or poverty. Imagine the education systems throughout the world that will produce inventions and cures that the world has never known. This will be a heaven on earth.

In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki) foretells of the day that all minds of the world will be purified of evil (greed, arrogance, and self-love). When this happens, it is predicted that mankind can live forever if she or he wanted to in a joyous world.

By this salvation given to the mind of sincerity,

you shall be freed from illness, death, and weakening. 3-99

After that, you may stay as long as you wish,

without illness, death, or weakening. 4-37

Further, after the passage of long years,

there will be no aging at all. 4-38

Imagine a world without greed, arrogance, and self-love. Can you imagine what the world will be like?

The World Does Not Understand

In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), there is a quote, “We see but we do not understand”. What is it that we do not understand? We do not understand the principle of causality. Good thoughts and actions result in joy; evil thoughts and actions result in sufferings. Can our suffering and joy be the result of our past actions and thoughts? Can our thoughts and actions of today bring upon an effect in our next lives? We often see the effect of our actions on others, but can they also bring upon an effect to ourselves in our next lives? What we sow, we will reap.

We see joy and suffering and we see good and evil behavior. Yet we do not understand the relationship. We do not understand that we control our own destiny by our actions of today. For those who hurt and cause sufferings to others, beware of the dangerous paths that await you in your next lives. Remove evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) from your hearts today, and guarantee joy in your future lives. You control your own future!

In Search of God

Is searching for God like searching for Big Foot? Is it a useless endeavor? Where do most people go searching for God? We go to the source, like the ancient sacred books that tell about the creation of the world by God. We go to religious scholars that translate these books, and many go through a mediator (church) in communicating with God. Can we really say that we have found God?

Does God have a physical form that we can see, or is God something like a spirit that is omnipresent? Some say that God created mankind in his image, while others believe God is an invisible force. Many times religions have concrete images of past prophets that they worship, but they have no images of God.

Could God be an enormous spirit, soul or conscious that envelops the universe, which includes mankind? Can we all be made from this enormous conscious or soul of God? Is it possible that our innermost heart (soul) was originally pure like that of God? In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), it is said that evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) has attached to our innermost heart (soul). When we sweep our mind of these evils, we begin to remove the impurities attached to our hearts (soul); and we become one with God. We become spirited with God.

Searching for God in this Universe may be a useless endeavor. We must search within ourselves; the existence of God may be found within our innermost hearts (souls). We only need to remove greed, arrogance, and self-love to find God.

Our bodies are loaned to us from God

In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki) , it is said that our bodies are God’s possession, and it is the mind or conscious that we are free to use as we wish. God gives us freedom to use our minds to use our bodies that has been loaned to us.

I shall teach you step by step that mankind is

God’s possession (body). Ponder, and look at it. 3-40

This mankind, you are all part of God

Our bodies are all lent to us by God. 6-120

But how are we using our mind? There are people today who have been corrupted with evil (greed, arrogance, and self love). Their minds cause them to damage their bodies, but also the bodies of others. They are damaging God’s possessions; they are hurting God. For those who kill or cause suffering in the name of God, you are not only hurting mankind, you are killing God.

There is no one who is evil

How do we deal with evil people? The Western world is attempting to deal with terrorists that are causing suffering in this world. What happens when we begin to eliminate or imprison them? The more we are successful in eliminating them, more people appear to replace them. In our communities, no matter how hard law enforcement attempts to eliminate the gangs, they continue to increase in membership. Could it be that the body becomes infected with evil? Is evil something that can be transmitted from one person to another like a virus? And if evil is transmitter, can it also be eradicated? In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki) is written:

Among all mankind, there is no one who is evil.

It is only a bit of dust stuck on. 1-53

What are these dusts that become ingrained in the soul? In the Book of Prophecy is the following:

These paths (dusts) are miserliness, covetousness, self-love,

greed, and arrogance. These are the dusts. 3-96

It is these dusts that we must eliminate. It is not the body we must eliminate. In the Book of Prophecy, it is said that God will begin to eliminate these dusts from mankind. God has given us a special prayer to help mankind understand these dusts in our minds, and also to help us remove these evils from our minds. It is God that will eventually eliminate the evils in the world so that all mankind will live a joyous life. We must ask God to help us by prayer.

What if

What if? What if the entire world believed in heaven? What if the entire world believed in causality and reincarnation? What unlikely scenario would be the best for mankind, a belief in heaven, or a belief in reincarnation?

If we all believed in heaven, some people would still be killing and hurting each other to get into heaven; some people would be good and giving for the purpose of getting into heaven. Heaven appears to be a reward for the life on this earth. Sometimes earth becomes the battleground. We compete against each other to enter heaven.

If we believe in causality and reincarnation, fear will prevent some people from committing atrocities to others; some will be good to guarantee a better future in the next life. Peace and joy on earth appears to be the goal if one believes in reincarnation and causality, a heaven on earth. As opposed to a belief in heaven, we help each other to make the earth better.

Which concept heaven or reincarnation would be better for the world? Something to ponder about.

Illness May be God’s Blessing

It is said in the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki) that God will provide miraculous blessings. Many would think of these blessings as exorbitant riches (material), and joy (spiritual). But these blessing are illnesses on our bodies. How can illness be a blessing?

Have you ever had a headache or illness that took control of your life, where financial, marital, and every day problems that once stressed your life became secondary. Where the only concern was the excruciating never-ending pain. Where you would do anything to lessen the pain. Where God became an option to pray for relief. When the pain finally subsided, how it felt good to be pain free and alive. But of course, for most of us this feeling is temporary; and eventually our thoughts return to our previous ways.

It is said in the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo) that illness maybe God’s guidance to purify the mind of evil (greed, arrogance, and self love). It is said that God can see the misplaced thoughts in our minds. If one believes in causality and reincarnation, these evil thoughts and action result in suffering in our next lives. God sees the dangerous paths of our minds, and places illness to guide us now. If we purify our minds, then joy will unfold in our next lives.

So the next time, an intense headache or illness occurs, ironically it may be God’s blessing. Purify your minds of greed, arrogance, and self-love. God may be guiding you.

The Universe is the Body of God

In the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki) it is written that the universe is the body of God. Our bodies are part of the universe, so we must all be part of God. Our bodies are lent to us from God. Yet there are people who try to control, hurt, and abuse what is not theirs. Look at the abuse of women and the oppression of people in general. They are trying to control God’s possessions, and this is not possible.

Why is this not possible? No person can live in his or physical body forever. We must eventually return our bodies to God. What happens to these people who cause suffering to others when they leave their physical bodies? What process does God have to teach them the price of taking possession or abusing God’s property? Look out, the Jihadist and murderers of the world; God may have different plans different from your expectations. Suffering and obstacles may await you in God’s body (universe). We must take care of our bodies, and the bodies of others because they are loans from a loving God.

For those who suffer now, the removal of evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) will guarantee joy in the future by the principle of causality. If we all in the world remove evil from our minds, the world will settle with joy, making the body of God (universe) healthy. If we are all spirited, God will be spirited.

If the minds of the world are spirited in all matters,

the mind of God, also will be spirited. 4-20

The Appropriate Prayer

How appropriate are our prayers. I remember when I was in school, I prayed after my tests. Was this an appropriate prayer? I would think that God would not be able to change the answers to the test. Thinking about it now, it would have probably been more appropriate to pray before my test, or even during the test. I think many of our prayers fall into this category. We pray after the event.

It is the same with our health, sufferings or obstacles in our lives; we pray for what is occurring now. But what caused these sufferings? Should we not pray that God help us remove these factors that cause our sufferings. Some would say that we are talking about pathogens, or even our oppositions that inflict sufferings. But we are talking about factors that are completely different.

We are talking about evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) that cause our sufferings. If we believe in causality and reincarnation, our evil actions and thoughts of today bring upon suffering or obstacles in the next life. It is with this thought that we ask God to help us remove these evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) today so that our future will be void of sufferings and obstacles. God cannot help us remove the past evils that we have committed, but he can help us remove the evils in our minds today, thus preventing suffering in the future.

Evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) sweeping, save us please, Universal Saving God.
