Many people think that my only purpose is to criticize the existing religion of Tenrikyo. For example, my son and I attended a Tenrikyo seminar on the Ofudesaki, in Los Angeles. I had attempted to distribute my English translation of the Ofudesaki at this seminar. I remember the cold angry mean look of the Bishop of the church as my son and I were escorted out of the church grounds.
Tenrikyo people are good people, but I know that they are not following the instructions in the Ofudesaki, their most sacred scripture. I would say that compared to other religions, my views and church leadership views are not much different. But on the important issues like how to purify our minds, and how to spread it to the world, we differ. We also do not understand our prayer of the Youki-tsutome, and what we are asking God to do with ths prayer. These reasons are why God’s teachings of saving the world are not spreading to the world.
In the Ofudesaki, God gives us the instructions to purify our own minds, so only health and happiness will appear from our own souls. God also tells us how to spread the teachings to the world. But unfortunately throughout time, customs and ancient beliefs have contaminated God’s teachings. We must go back to the Ofudesaki, and understand God’s intentions.
Again my intention is to spread the teachings that are in the Ofudesaki. One can get a copy of my translation, which is word for word at Amazon.com. It is a red colored book titled Ofudesaki. 多くの人々は、私の目的が既存の天理教を批判することだけだと思っている。例えば、ロサンゼルスで開催された天理教の『おふでさき』セミナーに息子と参加した際、私はそこで自作の英語訳版を配布しようとした。教会から追い出される際、教会の司教が私と息子に向けた冷たく怒りに満ちた冷酷な視線を今でも覚えている。
天理教の人々は善良な人々ですが、彼らが最も神聖な経典であるおふでさきの教えに従っていないことは承知しています。他の宗教と比較すれば、私の見解と教会指導部の見解に大きな違いはないと言えるでしょう。しかし、kokoro (mind)を清める方法や、それを世界に広める方法といった重要な問題では、我々は意見が異なります。また、我々は「陽気つとめ」の祈りを理解しておらず、この祈りを通じて神に何を求めているのかも分かっていません。これらの理由により、世界を救うという神の教えが世界に広まっていないのです。
おふでさきにおいて、神様は私たちに自らのkokoro (mind) を清めるよう教えを授けてくださっています。そうすれば、私たちの魂から健康と幸福だけが現れるのです。神様はまた、教えを世界に広める方法も教えてくださっています。しかし残念ながら、時代を経て、習慣や古い信仰が神様の教えを汚染してきました。私たちはおふでさきに立ち返り、神様の意図を理解しなければなりません。
