In the Book of Prophecy (Fudesaki) is the following verse:
Ponder over this talk, all of you in the world.
There is no mind the same as another. 5-7
Even between parent and child, husband and wife, and siblings,
their minds all differ from one another. 5-8
God is talking about the amount of greed, arrogance and self-love in our minds. But what determines how much of these undesirables we have in our minds? Some scientist would say that hormones or chemicals in our brains are the ingredients that make us greedy, arrogant and selfish. When we act upon these undesirables, the body produces more of these chemicals or hormones; but if we resist these urges caused by these hormones, we reduce the production of these chemicals. For example, if we submit to our greedy desires, our bodies produce more of the chemicals, which make us greedier.
The question arises on how we remove these undesirables or evils from our minds. First we must admit that we have these undesirables like greed, arrogance and self-love in our minds. We must admit to our sins. We must then have strength to resist these urges by leaning on God. With resistance, these urges become less, and our minds become more pure of these undesirable chemicals.
But what happens when the mind is overflowing with greed, arrogance and self-love? What is the effect on our bodies and our future? Hormones are chemicals, and these chemicals can be converted to electrical energy in our minds. Let us postulate that these undesirable hormones are converted to negative energy. These negative energies eventually disseminate to other parts of our bodies and may cause illness or cancers. Many in the scientific community accept this concept of the mind affecting the body. But is there another organ or entity that collects these negative energies? In the next blog, I will discuss the “soul” as a collector or filter of these negative charges.
Let us now change directions, and talk about the controversial subject of the soul. Hopefully we can come back to the previous subject of the mind, and relate it to the soul. The soul or the innermost heart is said to be a positive energy source from God; some will say it is a part of God, originating from the pure mind of God. In the Book of Prophecy is the following verse:
To God, each of you, one and all, is a child of mine.
I am filled with love for you. 8-61
But the innermost heart of everyone of you
Has accumulated piles of dust (evils). 8-62
Science postulates that negative charges are attracted to positive charges. The soul, which is all positive energy, attracts the negatives charges created in the mind. The innermost heart or the soul of most people is surrounded by these negative charges. The soul is like a filter that attempts to collect all of our negative energies of the mind. But what happens to these negative energies that surround the soul? What is the fate of the soul and negative energies upon death of the individual?
Many people believe that the body will decay, but believe that the soul will continue. But where will the soul go? Edgar Cayce, the clairvoyant believed that we have all lived in many mansions. In many religions, reincarnation is believed to be true. Even early Christians are said to have believed in reincarnation.
If reincarnation exists, we take our pure soul and surrounding negative charges to our next incarnation. These charges carry our distinct urges, temperament, and selfish traits. These charges are transmitted from the soul to the developing mind, and are converted to chemicals or hormones that eventually negatively influence the developing child. We carry our sins to our next incarnation. This is why our minds all differ.
Besides causing illness, what can these negative energies that surround the soul cause? Karma says that these negative energies can also be released out of the body, and come back to us as suffering or inconveniences. We may have to reconsider what causes natural disasters. It may not be global warming, but it may be the increase in the release of negative energy from our souls?
How do we eliminate these negative energies that surround our pure heart. First we must admit that we have greed, arrogance, and self-love in our minds. We must admit that we have sinned. We must resist these evil urges when they develop in our minds, and not carry them out. When we continue to resist these temptations, the pathway of these evils will be broken, resulting in less negative charges surrounding our souls. Eventually with determination and hard work, our soul will be free of these negative charges, and our minds will become spirited.
