This is a verse that initially caused me much confusion
(wakaru you) (mune no uchi yori) (shiyan seyo) (hito tausketara) ( waga mi tasukeru) 3-47
Tenrikyo Church Headquarter translate this very differently. This is the word for word translation:
To understand the workings (of God’s guidance), the soul interior what comes from, ponder do it.
A person if saved, one’s own body to save.
The first part of the verse is talking about pondering what comes from our own soul to purify our minds. It is our own fates that come from our own soul. When we ponder the negative thoughts in our mind, and do not act upon them we can purify our own minds. When the mind is pure, we are saved. Only health and joy will appear from one’s own soul. This is what the second part of the verse is saying.
The Tenrikyo Church Headquarter translates the last part as:
If one saves other, one’s own body is saved. 3-47
But one has to save oneself before they can save others.
