We have sinned

The first step in our salvation is to admit that we have sinned. In many religions, admitting sin reveals our fallacy as human beings, and also is a way to apologize to a higher being. It can also be a cathartic remedy to release our guilt. But will the admission of our sins bring upon our salvation, as many of the religious leaders want us to believe?

In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), it is said that God does not want our apologies for our past indiscretions. It is our positive acts and thoughts that God wants when confronted by obstacles or sufferings. But many of us will fall prey to evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) when faced with adversity and temptation. We continue to apologize and seek forgiveness for our sins from a forgiving God.

It is this mind of joyous acceptance, no matter what obstacles or suffering that is placed in front of us, that God desires. This is truly a difficult path to salvation. Who among us can accept hatred or anger directed toward us without retribution? Who can accept suffering with joyous acceptance? In the Heaven’s Truth Church, we accept these sufferings or obstacles as a result of our past indiscretions or sins; but we can also build from these obstacles, by reacting positively. This positive response by the principle of “Causality will bring upon joy in the future. Causality reminds us that we have sinned, but it also gives us an opportunity to purify our minds of evil.

A sign for a sign

It is said that God made a world, which is self-sufficient. You can see this in the abundance of resources that keep human beings alive. Many of these are run by intricate cycles like photosynthesis and the Krebs cycles. The world is run by autopilot without God’s assistance. Suffering and joy occur in the world without God. The atheist in the world may be partially correct in their belief of a nonexistent God.

But suffering of human beings should not exist in a self-sufficient world. It is because of his love for his children that God has revealed himself since he created mankind millions of years ago; and has given us a special prayer to eliminate the sufferings in the world. The following is from the Book of Prophecy (Ofudesaki):

At this time quickly begin the Hand dance (prayer).

This is a signal for a miraculous occurrence. (God’s workings) 1-15

Step by step, the prayers will assemble.

Taking this as a signal, I shall begin my workings. 4-14

This talk, if the signal (prayer) brings upon its effect (God’s workings)

know that everything proceeds in this way. 17-74

It is said that this is the first time that God has revealed himself since he created mankind. The prayer that God has given us signifies the beginning of mankind. What does the beginning of mankind signify? It is said that God created mankind to live a joyous life. Our prayer then asks God to help us create this joyous life, which was the cause of the creation of mankind.

It is said that when God accepts our special prayer, God will begin to show others that our thoughts and behaviors are reflected back to us in as joy or sorrow. We have the ability to live a joyous life if we remove greed, arrogance and self love.

It is with this special prayer that we ask God to help the world understand this important concept of causality, that will help the world understand the cause of joy and suffering.

Evil sweeping. Save them please Universal Saving God

Sweeping away evil

In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), we believe that there is no one who is essentially or inherently evil. It is only because a bit of dust has stuck on. These dusts are said to be arrogance, self-love, greed, miserliness, covetousness, anger, hate, and grudge bearing. These evils have pervaded our minds, and cause the sufferings in the world.

These evils are easily spread, like the infectious diseases that weaken the human body. The dusts of arrogance, self-love, and greed are easily transferred from mind to mind. Look at past history, where nations, and religions have committed atrocities against humanity. Good intention people were infested with the evil of arrogance; and they sincerely believed that their actions were in accord with God. Look at the recent financial crises, where greed and self-love caused turmoil in the world market. Look at the religious extremists who are so arrogant to believe that God is on their side.

Once the infectious diseases caused havoc on the human race causing death to millions; but with the discovery of microorganisms, scientist were able to control these once deadly infections. It is the same with these evils in our minds that are imperceptible to most of the population, like the once invisible microorganisms. We must first acknowledge the existence of these evils of arrogance, greed, and self love that causes suffering in the world. Once the cause of suffering is known, then we must pray to God, to help eliminates these evils from our minds.

Sweeping away evil, please save them Universal God

How do we remove evil

I hear on the news concerning what should be done to combat the terrorist. Many political analysts on one particular channel suggest finding and killing of all terrorists. But can all evil in this world be eliminated by death? Look in the past. The world has killed Hitler, Stalin, and other evil leaders, but cruel and evil people continue to emerge. If we believe in the everlasting soul and reincarnation, these souls continue to return with their baggage of evil. We definitely cannot annihilate evil people; it does now work.

Can a person be evil by genetics? Is evil a learnt trait? In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), we believe that there is no one who is evil. It is only because the dust of evil has invaded his or her mind.

Among all mankind, there is no one who is evil.

It is only a bit of dust stuck on. 1-53

These dusts are arrogance, self love, and greed. They permeate the mind, and make man evil. Evil is a learnt trait, that can be detached from the soul.

It is not the body or soul that we must eliminate, but it these evils of arrogance, self love and greed that we must attempt to remove from these “evil people”. But how do we remove these evils from their minds? We can try to reason with these people, but without God’s help, it may be fruitless.

It the Heaven’s Truth Church, God has given us a prayer that will help others remove evil from their minds. We need God’s assistance to help the world remove evil from their hearts. It is this special prayer that will eventually purify the minds of the world. Lets give prayer a chance!

We control our own destiny

The path to purify our minds is a very difficult path. Many will stumble on this path. It is to remove evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) from the mind no matter what life puts in front of you. By the principle of causality, this will erase a past sin, and bring forth joy by this positive response. Per chance, if we respond negatively to what appears, even though we may erase a past indiscretion, we continue to set forth a path of future suffering.

Who among us can accept someone’s anger directed toward us. Many of us succumb to these obstacles and will respond with anger and hatred. By our negative response we continue to accumulate the negative energies that will eventually come back to us as sufferings and obstacles. But if we continue to respond with kindness, we eventually eliminate the negative energies that result in future sufferings.

These sufferings and obstacles are not God’s tests to test our faith, but it is caused by our past thoughts and actions. Some may wonder, why they suffer so much in spite of their faith in God; but the law of causality is immutable, what one sows, one reaps. But there is hope in that our positive actions of today will bring forth joy in the future. We control our own destiny. God gives us choice.

How to receive God’s blessings

In the Heaven’s Truth religion, it is said that the soul of an emperor is equal to a soul of a peasant in the eyes of God. Even the souls of the early instructions used in the creation of mankind were treated with no special considerations. It is a religion that advocates equality in both race and gender. The soul of every human being is dear to God who created mankind.

It is only when our minds become clouded with greed, arrogance, and self-love that we begin to think that we better than others, and begin the process of separation. We see this in race, religion, politics, and sex. Everyday there is racial tension, religious persecutions, government corruption, and the abuse of females. We not only begin the process of separation from others by these evil acts; but we also separate from God.

Only when we realize that we are all children of God, can we expect blessing from a concerned, patient and loving God. What are these blessings? Some may expect entrance into Heaven. In the Heaven’s Truth Church (Tenrikyo), we believe that these blessing will be a joyous life for everyone in the world. To receive these blessings, we must find what we have in common to unite, than to find our dissimilarities to separate. How do we do this? We must remove greed, arrogance, and self-love from our minds. When this happens, God blessings of a joyous world is guaranteed.

A RELIGION TO SAVE ALL MANKIND

WHY DO SOME SUFFER WHILE OTHERS HAVE JOY? HOW DO WE FIND JOY?

BY REMOVING GREED, ARROGANCE, AND SELF LOVE FROM ONE’S MIND WILL CREATE JOY IN THE FUTURE. BY WHAT PRINCIPLE DOES THIS OPERATE?

WE MUST FIRST UNDERSTAND CAUSALITY. CAUSALITY IS HEAVEN’S TRUTH. IT IS A PROCESS OF PURIFYING OUR MINDS.

UNDERSTANDING CAUSALITY OPENS THE PATH TO JOY. CAUSALITY EXPLAINS WHY WE SUFFER OR HAVE JOY. WE REAP WHAT WE HAVE SOWED. THIS PROCESS GIVES US THE ABILITY TO CREATE A JOYOUS FUTURE; BUT IT ALSO CONTINUES OUR SUFFERINGS IF WE IGNORE THIS PRINCIPLE.

GOD WILL BEGIN TO HELP THE WORLD UNDERSTAND CAUSALITY. WE HAVE A SPECIAL PRAYER ASKING GOD TO HELP OTHERS UNDERSTAND CAUSALITY. THIS WILL HELP THEM REMOVE EVIL FROM THEIR HEARTS.

OUR BELIEFS:

We believe in the law of causality and reincarnation. Good thoughts and actions result in joy.  Evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) thoughts and actions result in suffering and inconveniences in the future.

God will begin to shorten the time lapse between the cause and effect, making the relationship easier to understand now. God has given us a  special prayer that will make this possible. With the acceptance of our special prayer, evil (greed, arrogance, and self-love) thoughts will be revealed as illness or disorders on those around us. God gives them a glimpse of their future by this guidance. With these illnesses, God gives us the ability to heal these disorders; and God gives us the opportunity to teach them about causality and true sincerity

OUR MISSION:

To eliminate greed, arrogance, and self-love from our own minds, thus making our special prayer receptive to God.

To pray daily with our special prayer (Joyous Service), asking God to help spread the truth of causality to the world. God will enter others and show them the relationship between the mind and the body. God will shorten the time interval between the cause and effect. Their minds will be revealed on their bodies as illness. God will give them a glimpse of their future.

To heal the people whose minds have been revealed when God guides them to us; and teach them about causality and true sincerity. True sincerity is a mind that ponders over these suffering and obstacles, and accepts these inconveniences in a joyous manner. This will by the principle of causality bring forth joy in the future.

OUR GOAL:

TO REMOVE EVIL (GREED, ARROGANCE, AND SELF LOVE)  FROM OUR HEARTS DAILY.

TO PERFORM AND SPREAD OUR PRAYER TO HELP THE WORLD UNDERSTAND CAUSALITY AND TRUE SINCERITY.

What makes us special

What makes human beings different from all other species in the world? We have the ability to reason. When a crime occurs, we attempt to collect data from the past in trying to solve the crime. When there is a car accident, we try to recreate the accident in trying to solve who was at fault. We attempt to find the cause of the effect. Yet when it comes to suffering and obstacles that we face, we refuse to believe that these could be caused by our past actions. We often blame others for our sufferings. Why is it so difficult to believe in causality?

Many of us have a difficulty finding fault within. It is difficult to admit that we have sinned. How has an innocent child sinned? Why do I suffer when I know I have been generous and good? Why do the evil prosper, is there no causality for them? These are the questions that may obscure the understanding of causality.

The answer to understanding causality may be reincarnation. Many of the effects may not sprout until our next lives. But why would God place a shield separating the cause and effect? If God would punish immediately after the evil action, the person would not perpetrate further evil due to fear. The fear of retribution will prevent the evil action. It is like a tyrant who rules his people. Fear prevents his people from committing crimes; the actions do not come from the heart.

When people are able to understand causality, they will realize that the removal of evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) will bring forth joy in the future. Suffering and obstacles are a result of our past actions. If we confront them and accept them without blaming others, we can bring forth joy in the future. Causality gives everyone the opportunity to have joy in the future. But without understanding causality, these suffering or obstacles can continue to bring upon our negative responses of evil (greed, arrogance, and self love). The evil responses will by the principle of causality bring upon suffering in our next lives, and the cycle of suffering continues in the world. In one of our sacred books, there is a quote about the sufferings and joys in the world:

Look at how causality (suffering or joy) is working in the world, and you will see the journey (cause) taken before. January 30, 1892 Instructions (Osashizu)

Many of us see suffering and joy but we do not understand their cause.

The Blame Game

It is easier to blame others, than reflect upon the actions of oneself. Look at the Jessie Jacksons, and the Al Sharptons of the world. Their message to the African Americans is to place blame on the whites for all of their problems. Instead of uniting people, they separate people. Instead of finding similarities, they find differences. Instead of looking within to find answers, they continue to look outside.

Instead of following people who try to divide us, lets listen to the people who try to unite and find similarities among us. Look at Jesus, Buddha, Gandhi, and Oyasama. These were people who united people. Whether we believe in heaven or heaven on earth (reincarnation), we are all God’s children. It is said that God disapproves of people who try to divide and separate.

Understanding Causality

Some say that God is not responsible for the sufferings that occur in the world. The principle of causality explains why we suffer or have joy. God has created a world where causality appears to reward good thoughts and behavior, and penalize evil thoughts and behavior. The following is a quote from the Osashizu:

If I say “causality,” you probably do not understand it. The entire world is a mirror. Although all human beings go through births and rebirths, each way you have used your mind is accurately reflected on your body. Understand this well. February 15, 1888

Sometimes we think that we must punish the evil, but God already has a system that takes care of injustice. Sometimes we think that we must tell others about our good deeds, but God already has a system to rewards the benevolent. Understanding causality reveals why we suffer or have joy.
