The Power of Reasoning

In the Tip of the Writing Brush are the followings:

This is a world constructed on reason

So I shall press upon you everything with the reason in verse. 1-21

Though I have gathered many and varied followers,

those that have minds like a distorted mirror will not do. 3-50

In this world there are people who believe in the books that were written thousands of years ago and believe from their hearts that the contents are all true. From a scientific and common sense reference, some of the contents cannot be true. It is the ability to reason that separate man from other species. These people abandon reasoning, and base their lives on their sacred books. When reasoning is abandoned, chaos and sufferings may follow. What is this institution that deprives people the power to reason?

It is religion that sometimes disregards reasoning, and requires of their congregation to have more faith on their sacred books. Faith base on reasoning may lead one closer to God; faith based not on reasoning may take us further from God. It becomes easier for the church to manipulate their congregation when faith is base on the untruth. Their church and their holy books cannot be wrong, and sometime what is wrong to most become right to these individuals. Killing in the name of God is justified. Good people become evil.

Questioning the sacred books is not sacrilegious. It is what God wants. God wants us to understand based on the truths of the universe. We must use our power of reasoning to understand the sacred books, but more important to understand what will make all mankind spirited and happy.

God will begin to work again

It is said in the Tip of the Writing Brush that God created human beings to live a joyous life. This was a herculean task on the part of God. It is said that since the creation, God has been on the sidelines looking at the joy created by mankind, but also looking at the sufferings that are created by mankind.

The religious sacred books have not alleviated the hatred, greed, and arrogance in the hearts of mankind. Today we see religions killing in the name of God. At home, we see our young people hooked on drugs and alcohol. We see arrogance in world leaders, including our own President. There is no true joy that was envisioned by God.

It is obvious that we as humans cannot bring upon joy by ourselves. We must ask God to help us. In the Tip of the Writing Brush, it is said that God will begin to work again. Remember that God has been on the sidelines since his creation of human beings. God has given us a special prayer (Joyous Service) asking God to help others attain the joyous life.

When we pray without greed and arrogance, this special prayer is said to reach God. God will then begin to work as he did when he created the world. When God begins to work, all mankind will eventually live a joyous life, with everyone helping each other.

The Origin

Why is it important to know the origin? When you want to get somewhere you have never been to, a map that gives you the direction will be a good thing to possess. To reach your destination, you need to know where on the map your destination is; but you most also know where you are on the map now, or your origin. Today a GPS will automatically locate both the origin and destination. Without the origin, reaching your destination will be impossible. Even with a map and knowing my origin, I sometimes find reaching a destination difficult.

In religion, we are also given a map. Some call this the sacred book like the Bible, Koran, or The Tip of the Writing Brush (Ofudesaki). The final destination of heaven is usually the same in all of these books. But there are different directions in each of these books in how to get to heaven. Some are fanatically adamant that their map is correct, even to the point of hurting others in protecting their books. Others go door to door with their sacred books, hoping to lead others to heaven. And there are some who for selfish purposes, show us the right road, but take the other road. Which sacred book or map is correct that will lead us to salvation?

In some of the sacred books is a chapter or text on the origin. This may be called the genesis. Like a map, we need to know the origin. In the Tip of the Writing Brush is written:

The origin may seem small, but the root (cause of the origin) is great.

In all things know the origin. 5-43

What is the cause of the beginning of mankind? In the Tip of the Writing Brush, it states that God created mankind to live a joyous life. We find that God is our creator, and God created us to live a happy life. When we know the origin, the path to our destination becomes easier. For those who seek direction, find the origin in your holy books.

Causality as the Truth of Heaven

Most people know what is right and what is wrong. Many people want to be good, but being good is difficult to obtain. If there were no inconveniences, temptations or suffering after our resolve to take the high road, it would be easy to accomplish our goal of being good. But life always brings upon obstacles that test our resolve. These may include the boss or coworker who makes it difficult for you, illnesses that cause suffering, accidents that cause emotional and physical damage, and temptations. These obstacles may obstruct our desire to be good.

What brings upon these negative events? Why do some people have more of these negative events happen in their lives? Are these God’s and the devil’s workings to test our faith? Or can these sufferings or inconveniences be the result of our own doings?

If these sufferings and temptations are the result of God’s test, then many of us will fail before our physical demise. Look at the human response to God’s test in the world today. There is anger, retribution, greed, hatred, and grudge bearing, leading to crimes and wars. We have failed God’s tests, and the devil is said to be waiting to reap the remnants of our soul.

Let us suppose the sufferings and inconveniences that we experience today are the result of our past actions and thought. For most of us, we see and feel the sufferings, but we do not understand. We do not see or recall the evil that caused our inflictions of today. We believe that we have done nothing wrong. We then go back to thinking it is God’s will, God’s test for our salvation. We do not see the relationship between our minds and our bodies.

Reincarnation may be part of the puzzle that unravels the mystery why we suffer. The evil or the source of the suffering may be found in previous lives. Causality and reincarnation gives us an opportunity to purify our minds of evil. Like a mirror of our minds, they forces us to confront our past thoughts and behavior. If we react positively to the sufferings brought upon by our past action, we can create a future that will be joyful. If we react negatively, it continues the cycle of suffering. The principle of causality affirms the ownership of our minds to use as we please. But it also affirms the effects of our thoughts and actions caused by our free will. We reap what we sow.

In life, suffering and inconveniences come in different guises. Some times, someone familiar delivers it, and other times it is delivered by complete strangers. The phrase, “don’t kill the messenger” comes to mind. We must not take it out on the messenger, but we must ponder within to purify our own minds. By the law of causality, we can create a joyful future.

For many of us, we see the suffering in the world, but we do not understand. Understand causality. The truth of heaven may be causality.

Going back to the “Origin”

I often get phone calls scams on my answering machine. Today there was a person claiming to be an agent of the Internal Revenue Service. She wanted me to call her as soon as possible before the IRS would start to take action. For me, it was easy to identify it as a scam, but what reactions would the call have on the elderly? How disappointed must God be to see his or her child who would deliberately cause suffering to others? How would this evil person feel if it was she or family that was being scammed?

In the Tip of the Writing Brush, God advises us to know the Origin. Why does God want us to go back to the creation of mankind? We believe that God had created mankind to live a joyous life. This is the original causality. Causality is the process by what the world operates by. What we sow, we reap. By also knowing the Origin, we discover our ancestry; we are all brothers and sisters. More important, we find the creator of the Universe, God. Understanding causality is the first step in the salvation of mankind.

In the Tip of the Writing Brush, it is said that God will begin to help mankind understand causality. We have a special prayer (Joyous service) asking God to help others understand causality. This will eventually purify the minds of the world, even the people that purposely cause others to suffer today.

Day of Judgment

In many of the religions, there is a day of judgment when God decides who would be saved. It is said that the dead would also be resurrected to stand judgment before God. The evil would be banished to the underworld or be destroyed. Unfortunately, if this scenario unfolds, the majority of souls will perish. But for those who believe this to be true, they warn the nonbelievers that they still can be saved; but time is running out.

In the Tip of the Writing Brush, God does not take such drastic measures. It is forewarned that God will begin to distinguish our minds, in separating the good from the evil.

What do you think this working is to be?

It is solely to distinguish between good and evil. 13-40

It is said that God will begin to distinguish how we are using our minds and reflect it on our bodies. Does this mean epidemics and plagues, or possible just minor inconveniences like the flu, or minor illnesses? Neither less, in both scenarios God is distinguishing who is good and who is evil. But unlike the finality of God’s judgment, we are given the opportunity to change. With the purification of the mind, these illnesses disappear.

Our thoughts reflecting as illness or misfortune is how causality operates in the world. Good thoughts and behaviors result in joy, and evil thoughts and actions result in suffering. But the effect of the cause is usually prolonged sometimes extending into many life times. God will begin to shorten the lapse between cause and effect by placing illness on our bodies today.

While some wait for God’s day of judgment, God may already be judging you. That illness may be God distinguishing your mind. Ponder your illnesses, and purify your minds by removing greed, arrogance, and self-love. God continues his work of saving all mankind.

Prayer to Save All Mankind

Why do most of our prayers fail? Something to ponder about.

The basics of prayer from the Tip of the Writing Brush

Remove evil from one’s mind before prayer. Evils can be called sins by traditional religions. In the Heaven’s Truth Religion, evils are called dusts. These dusts are arrogance, greed, self-love, miserliness, covetousness, anger, hate, and grudge bearing. Prayers without sincerity are said to be not accepted by God.

Pray for others. In the Heaven’s Truth Religion we have a prayer called the Joyous Service, asking God to save all mankind. Prayers concerning one self or immediate family are not necessary since God sees our true mind. It is said that when we pray for the salvation of others, we are also saved.

In summary, pray for the salvation of others with a pure mind. Why do we want everyone to be saved? It is said that when all mankind is saved, one will experience true joy.

How to increase church membership

Many religions have struggled to find out how to increase their followers. There are recent surveys that reveal that the majority of people do not attend a church. The increase in membership allows the church more revenue, and sometimes political and social power. Some religions have forced assimilation by intimidation and fear. Others have guaranteed salvation by the acceptance of their teachings. The history of religion sometimes reveals a dark side.

In the Heaven’s Truth Religion, there are three requirements that guarantee the increase in membership. The first requirement is that we pray. This is a special prayers asking God for the salvation of all mankind. We call this the Joyous Service. With the acceptance of our sincere prayer, God brings people to our churches to initiate their salvation.

But the first requirement is not effective unless the second requirement takes effect. The second requirement is that we must purify our minds of greed, arrogance, and self-love. For our prayers to bring in new members, our minds must have true sincerity. In summary, it is not by our power and influence that brings new members to us, but it is God who brings them to us by determining the sincerity of our prayers.

actually there is three requirements /revised 12/31/2018

  1. purify our minds by understanding the soul
  2. spread the teachings, especially about the soul (hinokishin)
  3. Perform the Joyous Service with a pure mind

Why we suffer

There are over 7 billion people on earth. What makes each of us so different? Science will say that we are all identical in the components that make each of us. But what makes each of us different? Is there something in the body that distinguishes each individual?

The human body generates energy from the foods we consume. This energy can be converted to many forms of energy that sustain our bodies. The mind benefits from this source of energy, forming our thoughts, which can also be considered, composed of energy. Suppose our negative thoughts produce negative energy. Negative thoughts include thoughts of greed, arrogance and self-love. These negative energies may have immediate affect on the body, like ulcers and inflammations.

Suppose each of us has within the body a positive energy force that is everlasting. Some will say this energy force originates from God and is called the soul. Some call it the innermost heart. The soul has the capability to continually attract the negative energy produced by the mind. Like the sand in the sewage systems that purifies our water supply, the soul captures our negative energies (evil thoughts), and stores them. Like a fingerprint, each soul is distinct from another. It is said that one is attracted to souls that are alike. This may explain why certain people are destined to be together and live in close proximity.

What happens to the negative energies collected by the soul? Some say that the soul purifies itself by releasing the negative energy into the environment. What effect does this negative energy have? Some say that these negative energies that are released into the environment can cumulatively be converted to intense weather conditions, and seismic movements. Pollution may not be the only culprit blamed for the change in our climates.

According to the proponents of causality, and reincarnation, these negative energies released from our bodies also boomerang back to us as sufferings or inconveniences. We reap what we sow. These negative energies come back to us in many forms. God may send it by some one we know, or by a complete stranger. Remember that energy is never created or destroyed. We create our own suffering by the amount of evil created by our minds.

There are two paths when confronted with negative energy or suffering. We can continue the path of suffering by responding negatively. This path will continue to create negative energy and suffering; or we can respond positively, and restore the positive energy of the soul. This path is not so easy because it requires us to remove greed, arrogance, and self love from our minds. This is the path to joy.
