The distorted mirror

In the world, there are some who discard science or logic, believing in faith. Faith based on reasoning and logic may be good, but faith based on human thinking may be dangerous. In the Tip of the Writing Brush is the following:

This is a world constructed on reason,

so I shall press upon you everything with the reason in verse. 2-21

In this world, there are those who are very religious, yet they do not understand God. Their religion is based on faith, and not the real world. The following is again from the Tip of the Writing Brush:

Though I have gathered many and varied trees,

those that are like a distorted mirror will not do. 3-50

Like a distorted mirror, their minds cannot see the true image.  They ignore what is real, and seek what may not be real. It may be time to open our eyes and see the true world that God has given us.

Finding the “Origin”

When people have problems, they try to find the cause. When you go to the doctor with an ailment, they attempt to find the source of the illness. This is a cause and effect principle. One is trying to find the origin of the problem. Could we not apply the same principle in finding out why people suffer or have joy?  Is there an origin to suffering or joy?

In our religion, there is a verse that says that we must understand the truth of causality before we can understand God’s purpose for creating mankind. Causality states that evil (greed, arrogance, and self-love) thoughts and actions cause suffering; good thoughts and actions result in joy.

The original causality was the creation of mankind. The cause was God’s intention to create mankind to live a joyous life. The effect was the creation of mankind. Finding the “Origin” (original causality), reveals a loving and caring God.  Find your “Origin”.

The Power of Money

There are some people who believe that they can prevent cancer by taking preventive measures.  One example is actress Angela Jolie, who has undergone elective surgery to prevent cancer. If we have money, can we control our fate?

In the Osashizu is the following:

You might not understand easily if I speak of causality. Listen and understand the truth well. If things happen the way you wish, that is because of causality. If things do not happen the way you wish, that is also because of causality.  However hard you try to cause something to happen, it might not happen, such is causality.  Were it possible for the power of money to make anything happen, it would be as though the one truth (causality) did not exist. Causality means that the power of money cannot cause things to happen.  August 26, 1890

Money can indeed influence the daily occurrences in our lives. But what the above passage refers to is that money cannot prevent sufferings in this world. We cannot change what we have done.  We must reap what we have sowed. The power of money cannot buy happiness!

Where was I?

Sometimes I wonder what happens when I die. I know my physical body will decompose and become integrated in the earth. But what would become of my thoughts. Would I still be able to think, or would my thoughts completely vanish? It is a disturbing thought that one might become nonexistent.

A couple of days I was looking at the family album with my 4-year-old grandson. I was showing him pictures of his mom when she was about his age.  He appeared to understand that his mom was once a child: but he asked a question that totally surprised me. He asked, “ Where was I”.

Most religions have an answer to where we go after we die; but they have no answer to this simple question of  “Where was I”.   Can death and birth have the same origin?

Why do I forget my dreams

Yesterday I had dreamed of something very poignant: something that I knew was very important in my life. But I could not remember my dream.  Sometimes I wake up, and remember a dream, but unless I consciously remind myself to remember the dream, I cannot recollect the vision later. Infrequently my wife asks me if I had a bad dream the night before. I find out that I had screamed in my sleep. But usually I cannot recollect the dream.

Do these dreams have a meaning in our lives, and why is it that we cannot remember them? Psychologist have often hypothesized that our dreams are an important part of our lives. They often alleviate the stresses and sufferings that we experience in our awakened world. It may be that these dreams are as important to us as what occurs in our wakening hours.

What would happen if we were to remember all of our dreams?  There may be an overload of our minds with information that may obstruct our daily lives.  Distinguishing between what is real and what is imaginary may become difficult.  We classify these people as psychotic.  The only problem with them is that they may not have the capacity to forget their dreams.  Is there a natural amnesic chemical in our bodies that make us forget our dreams, or is it derived from God?  Does God use this amnesic technique elsewhere in human maturation?

Believers in reincarnation would say that death also brings upon this amnesic agent or power that erases all our memories of this life. Like a dream, if we were to remember all our past lives, it would be difficult to concentrate on the present life. Reincarnation gives us a different slate (environment) to purify our minds.

The next time you are not able to remember your dream, or are unable to understand them, consider the possibility that you may have lived before. Your dreams may not only be of this life, but it may also be about the lives of your past!

Communicating with God

heaventruth's avatarOFUDESAKI-GOD'S TEACHINGS

Why are most of our prayers to God not answered? Are we not on the same frequency as God? There are frequencies that humans cannot perceive. For example, dogs can perceive sounds that we cannot hear. Is it possible that most of us are not on the same frequency as God?

This may sound silly, but could our minds produce energy or vibrations that are conducive to God. Can good thoughts generate this type of energy? Conversely can selfish thoughts generate negative energy to block our connection to God?

In the Tip of the Writing Brush, it states that our prayers must be sincere for God to answer our prayers. True sincerity is said to be the truth of heaven. Communicating with God

To have true sincerity, one must have a purified mind, void of greed, arrogance, and self-love. It is this purity of mind that God is said to accept. It is this positive energy that is transferred to God.

In our religion, we have only one prayer. This is called the Joyous Service. We pray for the salvation of all mankind.  It is said that when we pray with a purified mind, God will accept our prayers, and begin the process of saving all mankind. God will begin the process of purifying the minds of the world.  This will bring upon a world of joy, where everyone will help each other.

Eliminate greed, arrogance and self love to begin the process of communicating with God.

We do not understand

In theTip of the Writing Brush, God refers to those who have the teachings as Nihon, and those who do not have the teachings as Kara. But he often tells us that we all do not understand. What is it that we do not understand?

Our religion is special in that God has given us something very important.

About the service, first the hand dance, then the Kagura.

Thus, I have opened a narrow path. 4-74

God has given us the Joyous Service (hand dance) that no religion has. God also refers to this service as a fertilizer.

Truly let the mind be spirited and ponder.

Lean on God and perform the joyous service. 4-49

Do not wonder what this talk is about.

It is solely about the matter of the fertilizer. 4-50

This service asks God to save all mankind. But for this service (fertilizer) to be effective, the people that have the teachings must have true sincerity (pure heart)

This fertilizer, do not wonder what makes it effective.

True sincerity of the mind is what makes it effective. 4-51

When God accepts the sincerity of the prayers, God will bring upon salvation of the world as requested by this special prayer. But it is said that weeds have obstructed the path.

But weeds have gradually grown thick and the path is obscure.

Quickly, the preparation to put back the main path. 4-74

These weeds are the dusts of greed, arrogance, and self-love in the minds of the people that have the teachings. It is also our prayer that we do not understand. We do not know what we are asking God to do.

It is not surprising that our religion has not grown very much since the explosive growth of the late nineteen-century.  People in our church are more concerned about the perfection of the ceremony and the outer appearance, than in the meaning and purpose of our special prayer.

We must use this special prayer to bring people into our faith, while weeding within our church to make the fertilizer effective! When this happens, there will be another explosive growth in our church membership, and eventually the salvation of the world.

What do you think this salvation is?

It is to be free from illness, death, and weakening.  17-53

True Joy

I was viewing the top 25 athletes on ESPN, about John Stockton, a former Utah Jazz superstar. It was interesting how he became a great basketball player. Of course, practicing the game was a major factor; but he also said that his goal was not to be the best shooter, passer, or even the best player on the team; but his goal was to find a way that would make him valuable to the team. The goal of the team was the most important.

It is interesting article from a parent’s perspective on how to have your children excel in sports. Many of us have experienced the sometimes-disappointing saga of our children’s attempt at sports. We have spent endless hours and money on coaching, training, and taking our children to games. But the primary attention was focused on our children excelling. This resulted in tension and confrontations with coaches, parents and our children.

Not everyone becomes a Michael Jordan or LeBron James. These are special athletes. But even special athletes cannot win championships by themselves.  They need other players that would make their abilities come through.  It is the team that is the most important. We must teach our children talents and skills that would help the team. The individual that can help other players, becomes important to the team.

It is the same in other areas of life. It is not ourselves that we should highlight: but it is others that we must accentuate. When we help others, our lives will also improve. True joy for us can only occur if others have joy also.

If all the world comes to help one another,

God will accept all your minds. 13-38
