How does God Guide Us?

How does God communicate with us?  In the sacred books, it is said that God directly talked to the prophets like Moses, Elijah, Jacob, Jesus, and Oyasama. But how does God communicate to us now? Do we only have the written words of our sacred books to decipher and guide us?  In the Tip of the Writing Brush are written:

From tomorrow, I shall begin to request anything of you.

You must follow the words of God. 4-41

Day by day, disorders will come to your bodies. Ponder it.

God is informing you of your mistaken mind. 4-42

This cleansing will be a difficult matter,

but I say there is nothing to be called illness. 4-09

Whatever pains, sufferings, tumors,

fever, or looseness of bowel are also from dusts (paths of mistaken mind). 4-110

In summary, God may be guiding our lives by these disorders that may be inflicted on our bodies. When we reflect on these disorders, and remove greed, arrogance, and self-love from our minds, our hearts will become pure, and the illness will be returned back to God.

God’s Loan

As alluded to in previous posts, God shows guidance through illnesses and disorders of the body. In the Tip of the Writing Brush is the following verse:

If you have borrowed something from another, you will need

to pay interest. Return it quickly with a word of thanks. 3-28

My interpretation: Something borrowed is the illness from God. The interest is the pondering and purification (removal of greed, arrogance, and self love) of your mind. Then we return the illness back to God (recover from the illness), and with our prayer, thank God for the guidance.

In summary, if the illness or disorder is God’s guidance, the infliction goes away with our pondering and purification of our mind. With this purification (no greed, arrogance, and self love), our future becomes joyous.

God’s approval?

Do you sometimes  wonder if God approves of what we are doing or thinking? Suppose we can find out God’s approval or disapproval. In the Tip of the Writing Brush is the verse:

In distinguishing between Kara (evil mind) and those of Nihon (pure mind),

fire (body) and water (mind) will be brought in to make the distinction 2-47

This terse  verse has a profound meaning. If this is true, one can literally communicate with God.  God uses the body in distinguishing how we are using our minds. If our thoughts and actions are adverse, illness is place upon our bodies. If our thoughts and actions are exemplary, health is placed on our bodies.  This is God’s guidance for us to ponder over these inflictions, and eliminate greed, arrogance, and self love from our minds.

But is this happening today, or is this the future to come? We have a special prayer asking God to distinguish our minds so that the joyous world can occur one day sooner. With the sincerity of our prayers, hopefully God can begin to help us sweep greed, arrogance, from the minds of all mankind.

The Perfect World

In the Tip of the Writing are the following verses:

Illness and pain throughout the world; you do not know

that these are the road signs or guidance of God 2-22

There is nothing in this world that should be called illness.

Whenever there is a disorder of the body, ponder deeply. 2-23

Verse 2-22 states that disease or discomfort on our bodies may be God’s guidance that we may have greed, arrogance, and self love in our minds.

Verse 2-23 is stating that there should be no such things as illness or suffering in our bodies. It is only because we have the thoughts of greed, arrogance, and self love in our minds that God places these illness on our bodies. It is with this parental guidance, that we should ponder these inflictions, and try to eliminate these evils from our minds.

In summary, in the perfect world, there should be no illness. But in the perfect world, there will be no greed, arrogance, and self love in our minds. God hastens for this perfect world!

The Joyous Life

The following  are verses from the Tip of the Writing Brush.

Looking all over the world and through all ages,

various paths of life exist also. 1-45

Over steep mountains, through tangles of thorns, along narrow ledges and

through brandished swords, if you come, 1-47

Yet a head a sea of flames, and a deep abyss,

you will arrive at a narrow path. 1-48

After following the narrow path step by step, you will come to a path.

This is the trustworthy main path. 1-49

Verse 1-45 is stating that each path of the mind leads to different outcomes, like suffering or joy. If you entertain evil, you will suffer. If you entertain good thoughts, you will have joy.

Verses 1-47 and 1-48 is stating that most people have taken the evil path (greed, arrogance, and self love).  so they are reaping their end result of suffering. But if they continue forth to have faith in God despite their suffering, they will find the true path.

Verse 1-49 states that when they take the road to this true path (path without greed, arrogance, and self love), they will find the joyous life.

In summary, take the narrow path (path without greed, arrogance, and self love) to have a joyous life.

Good and Bad Seed revised

This is a continuation of my previous blog on planting the seeds.

For a man to have a joyous future, requires one to plant the seed of happiness. What is this seed? This seed is any  effort or thought that helps others. One must have a pure mind like water, and guard against the weeds (greed, arrogance, and self love) which may take over the mind. We must also put sincerity (fertilizer) in. This sincerity comes from knowing that all mankind was created to live a joyous life.  This seed or act germinates into joy in the future.

But what happens if we plant a bad seed? What is a bad seed? A bad seed is any act or thought that hurts others. A bad seed develops from a clouded mind that has been polluted with greed, arrogance, and self love. This seed develops into suffering in the future.

You can imagine one’s life as planting seeds as we go through life, with each seed germinating in the future. It is with this knowledge that a sinner (“bad person”) can have a joyous future, and a good person can suffer in the future. Let me explain further.

As with the law of nature, we can not change it. We can not change the future of what has been planted. A bad seed planted with bring forth suffering, and a good seed with bring forth joy.  No amount of praying will change what is done. Let me further explain using a parable from the New Testament.

Remember the story of the Pharisee and the publican. They both prayed to God, but God accepted the prayer of the publican. The Pharisee prayed to God that he had followed God’s commandments, and given to the church, while the publican acknowledge his sins and asked to be forgiven.  At that moment, the sinner was good. He had planted the seed of joy in the future. But were all his other bad seeds he had planted rooted out because of his repentance?  No, they would all have to germinate as to the laws of cause and effect.

As to the Pharisee, his prayer was not sincere at the moment, causing a bad seed to be planted. But would all his good seeds in this past be rooted out because if this incident. No, like the publican, his seeds  would germinate also in the future. In the case of the Pharisee his good seeds would germinate in joy. Unfortunately the bad seed would germinate afterwards also.

This is the reason we all can be saved and have a joyous life. No matter how evil our past, if we plant a good seed now, it will germinate in the future as joy! Continue to plant good seeds.

Planting Seeds

Have you ever started a garden? It requires much work. For a seed to sprout, and grow into a healthy plant requires one to plant the seeds, water it, remove the weeds, and fertilize. The following is an analogy between the development of a plant to the development of a joyous life in man.

For a man to have a joyous future, requires one to plant the seed of happiness. What is this seed? This seed is any  effort that helps others. One must have a pure mind like water, and guard against the weeds (greed, arrogance, and self love) which may take over the mind. We must also put sincerity (fertilizer) in. This sincerity comes from knowing that all mankind was created to live a joyous life.

If we continue to plant the seeds of good deeds with all these ingredients combined, the joyous life without suffering  will be one day sooner: but if we share these seeds and ingredients with others, the joyous world will become one day sooner.

The Pharisee and the publican

In our daily lives, when we put more effort, we expect to be rewarded. For example, when we study more than anyone else, we expect to get into prestigious colleges. When we work hard at work, we expect to be promoted. Some would even apply this to our religions. If we follow the tenets, we will be rewarded by God. But will we be rewarded? The following are from the new testament.

There is a parable about a good landowner who grows grapes. One day he went down to the village to hire laborers to work his fields. In the morning he hired a few laborers for a specific amount per day. In the afternoon he did the same thing. Before the sun went down, he hired a few more laborers. At the end of the day, he gathered the workers together to pay them for their efforts. To the surprise of everyone, he paid the same amount of money to all the laborers, even though some had only worked only an hour. To the dismay of the workers who started early in the morning, they started to complain of the unfairness of the good landowner. To many people reading this story, it does not appear to be fair. But God may have a different perspective?

Another parable is about the Pharisee and the publican. 18:10Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 18:11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 18:12I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I get. 18:13But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner. God accepted the publican’s prayer, but did not accept the Pharisee’s prayer.

Both of these parables go against the righteousness or fairness of man. But why does God have a different perspective of the situation? May it be that some tasks we do for our own profits and advancement, like the workers in the grape vineyard, or our efforts for our education and work. Some follow the tenets of the church for their own salvation, and not the salvation of others. This may have been the situation of the Pharisee. In the Tip of the Writing Brush, is the following

If you clearly know this origin,

you will always be assured, wherever you may go. 10-48

If only I have taught you the origin clearly,

you will understand everything I say. 10-54

The origin represents the beginning of mankind. God created mankind to live a joyous life.  This is what we must believe in our hearts when we pray to God. This may have been lacking in the heart of the Pharisee, and present in the heart of the publican when he confessed of his sins. In summary, take care of others, and God will take care of you!

Mind and Body

It is difficult for some people to associate disease and illness on our bodies to the way we use our minds.

In the Tip of the Writing Brush are the following verses.

Indicating no one in the world in particular,

I say to you that the evil in the mind causes disorders of the body. 5-9

Through a disorder may come to the body,

I am making a distinction in each of your minds. 11-4

I shall make everything in the mind of each of you

clearly manifest on your body. 12-171

Jesus even believed in the association of evil in the mind and disease of the body. The following are verses from the New Testament.

9:1And he entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city. 9:2And behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven. 9:3And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. 9:4And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 9:5For which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Arise, and walk? 9:

10:1And he called unto him his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of disease and all manner of sickness.

It is with these illnesses that God is distinguishing how we are using our minds. God wants us to remove the evils (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our minds. When we realize our errors of the mind (sins), we are cured of our illness. It is the pure heart that God wants. A verse from the bible:

6:19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal: 6:20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 6:21for where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.
