OFUDESAKI PROPHECY

Some of you may disagree with me, but I believe that the first two chapters of the Ofudesaki summarize all the teachings, and prophesy of God.  I will give you a couple of examples.  The first two chapters differ from the rest of the Ofudesaki in that they were both written in 1869. Chapter 3 is not written until 1874, which is a delta of about 5 years.  The early two chapters predict the physical demise of Oyasama and her daughter Kokan (see image). In verse, 1-61 of the Ofudesaki, the word parent refers to Oyasama who wanted to continue to train Kokan. The following is from the Ofudesaki and the Life of Oyasama.

This child, 2 years, 3 years, you wish to train,

You are saying. But God has detached.  1-60

Ponder, the parent how much she may desire,

God’s detachment, this will not come true.  1-61

On September 27, Kokan passed away for rebirth at the age of 39. On being notified, Oyasama returned to the Residence by rickshaw. She went straight to her bedside, stroking her lifeless body and said, “What a pity! Come back soon.”

OFUDESAKI 8-18

Interpretation:
The beginning truth, is that human bodies were created to live the joyous life. All the instruments from the ancient oceans were utilized to create a body, including the mind that the soul could occupy to enjoy this joyous life.

Illness is God’s Guidance to help one understand the heart

The concept of the heart is very difficult to understand. God even tells us in the first verse of the Ofudesaki that we do not understand the heart.  It is the energies of our own hearts that punishes or rewards us for our actions. God tells us that God has been only been observing us since the creation of human beings.  We reap what we have sowed because of our own hearts. God saw all the sufferings in the world and descended from heaven to teach us how to prevent future obstacles and illnesses that are delivered by our own hearts.

How does God convince the world that there is a heart (soul) in each of us that regulates our own behavior?  In the Ofudesaki, God even tells us that since there are so many people that do not understand the heart and what it does, it will be a mountainous challenge even for God. What would be the best way to help people understand the heart?

God wants to show us what our own heart do. To convince people, God will begin to place illness as guidance to people, so they can understand what their own hearts do for them naturally. God will begin to enter their bodies, and evaluate what dusts or evil thoughts are in their minds.  Comparing Oyasama’s mind to theirs, God will begin to place illness on their bodies, depending on how much dust is contained in their mind.  God is showing them their fate in this lifetime. A loving God that wants people to only have joy calls this guidance.  This is like the movie Christmas Carol, where Ebenezer Scrooge is shown his future by the ghost of the future.

But this is only a piece of the procedure to save the world. What would be the use of God’s guidance if people cannot understand the guidance given to them? This will be unjustifiable! I understand people that criticize and get angry toward me, for telling them that God places illness. This is why God tells us that for God’s blessings of guidance to occur, we need to go out first and spread God’s teachings. We must go out to inform people what God will begin to do. Tell them that God will begin to give out illness as guidance to help them understand the heart. This is explained in chapter 14 of the Ofudesaki. The spreading of God’s truth is called hinokishin in the Mikagura-uta.

When the spreading of God’s truth is completed, the performance of our special prayer, the Joyous Service, brings upon God’s blessings of guidance to the people we have spread the truths to.   But this is only the beginning of our work, as we must reinforce the concept of the heart to these people who come to our places of worship to be healed from their guidance.  We must teach them to purify their minds by understanding the heart, and then teach them the Joyous Service, so they can save others.

The Mind, Body, and Heart

If reincarnation exists, what are two qualities of you that God will want to save for your next life? God tells us that we have free will to think, so God will construct a system that will not change our way of thinking.  More specifically, our evil thoughts or dusts will be maintained from the previous life.  Looking at the image, Step 3, depicts the heart combining with the mind to restore the previous dusts of the former life. The same mindset will be the first quality that God will save. What will be the second quality of us that God will want to save? God tells us that from acting on these evil thoughts, we bring upon demerits that will be released as fate. Since we created these demerits out of our free will, I believe God will hold us responsible for our actions.  So the second quality saved will be our demerits and merits that we have earned.  I believe that the heart collects these demerits (step 4), and eventually releases these demerits as fate (step 5) when opportunities arise. So upon our physical death, our hearts carry our evil thoughts or dusts, and also the demerits that were created by acting on these same thoughts, to our next physical existence.  Does this seem fair?

Some will say, that it is not fair that we carry our demerits from the previous life, since they cannot remember what they have done?  But unknown to them, they also have the receipts for these demerits in their present minds.  These receipts are the dusts or evil thoughts that fabricated these demerits.  These dusts are regret, covetousness, self-love, greed, and arrogance. Each of our demerits is connected to one or more of these dusts.

Some will say that if we carry our fate from our previous lives, life is pessimistic and sad.  But God tells us that these obstacles (fate) are reminders that we have dusts in our minds. God tells us that when obstacles occur in life, we must not blame others but reflect on our own minds. This is the way we eliminate these dusts in our minds. God compares this to digging a root. We all know how difficult it is to dig a root.

Most of us would prefer to not go through any major obstacles in life. Would it be possible to eliminate fate?  In one of the scriptures, God tells us a major catastrophe can become a minor incidence if we follow the teachings. How is this possible?  As you remember acting on these evil thoughts caused these demerits. We cannot go back in the past and change our behavior; but we can attempt to eliminate the evil thoughts that initiated the demerit. This is almost like going back in the past to erase our actions.  Yes, when obstacles occur in our life, instead of blaming others, if we ponder our own minds, we can begin to eliminate our evil thoughts. If this happens, maybe the catastrophic fate or fates connected with this or these thoughts will also be eliminated or lessened.

OFUDESAKI 8-17

Interpretation:
God is talking to the early followers who have a difficulty understanding what God is saying. Even today, it is difficult to change the mindset of people. We can see it in the world today, where we often refuse to hear or see the opposition’s point of view.

Open the Portal to Settle the World

When God descended from heaven, God requested the Nakayama family to accept a request to make Oyasama the shrine of God. As Oyasama was a shrine, she was a portal to God. To pray to God, people would direct their prayer to her direction. The authorities made it difficult for people to pray, especially as the police often took her to prison later in her life. The restrictions from authorities, and even her followers, hindered the people from visiting Oyasama. All these situations made it extremely difficult to pray to God. As it was extremely difficult for the early follower to pray; it was almost impossible for people who were far away from the Residence.
Why is the date, January 26, 1887 so important to the world? This is the day Oyasama’s body ceased to function, but her soul returned to the Origin. The Origin is the location where human beings were created. We believe that Oyasama was the first parent in the creation. This is the location where the temporary Kanrodai is located now in Ojiba.
On January 25, 1887 God gave the following question to Oyasama’s followers, as she lay in bed from her illness:
“Should I open the portal, or close the portal to settle the world?”
I believe the portal refers to the Kanrodai. This became the Shrine of God when Oyasama’s soul returned to this location. Remember Oyasama was the Shrine of God when she was physically present on earth, and I believe still serves the purpose at the Kanrodai. It is my interpretation, that God compares our minds with the pure mind of Oyasama at this location, when our prayers are directed there.
At the time of the inquiry by God, her followers only wanted Oyasama to be saved from her illness; but unknowingly gave permission for her physical demise, by responding that they wanted God to open the portal to settle the world.
God responded to their request by returning her soul to the Origin, where now the whole world has access to Oyasama and God, and where the teachings can spread to the world.
By this world changing occurrence, the Joyous Service become effective, where God and Oyasama at the Kanrodai, begins to help us sweep evil from others. All these workings of salvation come forth because of the early followers response to God’s question, Should I open the portal, or close the portal to settle the world.
With the opening of the portal/Kanrodai, the mechanism to settle the world is in place. All we need to do is to follow the instructions in the Ofudesaki!

How the location of the Kanrodai was identified

On the location of the Kanrodai, many people believe that God told the early followers to sweep the Residence with brooms to find the location of the Kanrodai. The church headquarter translates verse 8-82 as:

Walk over where you have swept,
You will come to a standstill. There, the Kanrodai 8-82
But is this what happened? The following is from the Ofudesaki as I translate these important verses:
Kono hashira hayaku ireyo to omoedomo
Nigori no mizu de tokoro wakaran 3-9

This pillar, quickly to put in, I am thinking.
Because of the muddy water (dusts in the minds of the early followers), the location cannot be found.

Konosaki wa atchi kotchi ni mi ni sawari
Tsukihi teirri o suru to omoe yo 8-81

Hereafter, there here, bodily disorders will appear.
God, to give guidance, think about it.

Kitaru nara waga mi sawari to hikiyawase
Onaji koto nara hayaku soji o 8-82

When you come, compare your disorders.
If the conditions are the same, quickly begin sweeping the minds.

(Soji shita) (tokoro o aruki) (tachidomari)
(Sono tokoro yori) (Kanrodai o) 8-83

When you have swept (the mind), walk the place, and will come to a stop.
That place, will come the Kanrodai

Except for one individual, they stopped at this location because they had pure minds like the mind of God and Oyasama.

One may wonder how the early followers purified their minds. Verses 3-10 and 3-11 may give you an understanding of how this was done. Did this involve our hearts? God in the first verse tells us we do not understand the heart. Remember the instructions to save the world, are all in the Ofudesaki

Translations resulting in two different paths

There are some of us that believe that all we have to do is believe in Oyasama, and perform the Service for God to purify our own minds and save us. They depend on God to do this. For instance, many believe that we are asking God to save us when we sing the words “Ashiki o haroute, tasuke tamae”. There are others like myself who believe that God descended from heaven to teach us how to purify our own minds. After understanding God’s teachings, we purify our own minds.

The translations or interpretations of verse 7-95 and 7-96 show these two beliefs.  My word for word translation, God is telling us that we must sweep our own minds by what comes from our own innermost hearts. Our fate comes from our hearts, as the heart collects our evil actions, and distributes them as fate when opportunities develop in our lives. When these obstacles (fate) appears in our lives, we should not blame others, but instead ponder our own minds for evil thoughts or dusts.  God tells us that when we do this, we can eliminate our evil thoughts from our minds. Remember these are the same thoughts that created our fate, by our acting on them in the past, many times in our past lives. God depends on us to sweep our own dusts away.

The Church Headquarter translation implies that God will sweep our dusts or evil thoughts away. We depend on God to do this for us. God tells us that by performing the Service, God will sweep our dusts away. This makes perfect sense, we perform the Service, and God sweeps our evils away.  But is this what the Service is for?

In Verse 7-96, God tells us that when we purify our minds and become spirited by pondering what comes from our heart, God wants us to perform the Service. Why does God want us to perform the Service when our minds are already pure and spirited? Could it be that by performing the Joyous Service, we are asking God to help others sweep evil thoughts from their minds. It makes sense; we are spirited so we want others to be spirited. We are asking God to save others!

Evil sweeping, save them please, Namu-Tenri-0-no-Mikoto.
